Profound wisdom. “Switzerland bans al-Qaida for another 3 years,” from the Associated Press, December 5:
The Swiss government extended a ban on al-Qaida through 2011 on Friday.
Islamic militant groups – and specifically al-Qaida – pose a threat to the neutral country, the government said in a statement.
The Swiss law against al-Qaida came into effect two months after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. It forbade any activity or propaganda supporting the group, led by Osama bin Laden.
The ban must be renewed every three years.
Exactly: why ban al-Qaeda in perpetuity? Maybe three years from now al-Qaeda will have changed its mind about this whole resurrecting-the-caliphate thing, and simply want to live in Switzerland in peace, skiing, yodeling, and eating chocolate all day?
