Holi, the Festival of Colors, is a popular Hindu festival that people celebrate by sprinkling others with colored powder. But as we have documented many times here, Muslims don’t look kindly upon infidel celebrations: fatwas go out annually warning Muslims not to celebrate Christmas or offer Christians Christmas greetings, not to celebrate Valentine’s Day, etc. It is likely that Mohammed Rashid thought that by being sprayed with colors he was being tainted with Hindu idolatry, and so he struck out against the infidel offender. “O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him)” — Qur’an 9:123.
