Libelblogger Charles Johnson is getting as desperate as he is self-obsessed; yesterday Jihad Watch reader James told me that of the top 24 posts at the time at Little Green Footballs, fully 10 were about…libelblogger Charles Johnson.
A concomitant obsession appears to be with defaming those whom he has betrayed when he decided that the global jihad was not nearly as serious a threat as…creationism. His chief target is Pamela Geller, who has today posted a video of a demonstration in Britain.
Johnson falsely claims that this was a British National Party video, and that therefore Pamela endorses the BNP — and drags me into it also:
You may remember that Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer recently tried to smear me with an accusation that I was “linked up” with neo-Nazis, after they discovered a link to LGF on an obscure Canadian white nationalist website (on a page that also had links to CNN, Fox News, and lots of other mainstream news sources).
Of course, I have no control over who posts a link to LGF.
Reading Comprehension Alert: I didn’t say that the libelblogger was “linked up” with neo-Nazis — rather, that they had linked to him. And he knows they also linked to mainstream sites because I said so in the original post. You’d think a sharp tech guy like Johnson would get the difference between linking to someone and being linked to by someone, but apparently he isn’t as sharp as all that.
That post, in fact, was about the absurdity of reading too much into blog links — since Johnson first decided that I must be a villain because of a couple of blog links. But the point, as I should have guessed, eluded the keen minds over at LGF — Charles Johnson from the beginning of this controversy has been anything but fair-minded or interested in accuracy and truth, and he is just getting worse.
His post continues:
On the other hand, Pamela Geller has made a very deliberate choice to associate with and promote the most disgusting, vile fascist parties in Europe, including the BNP, the National Front, and the Vlaams Belang. And she continues to viciously attack me for pointing it out, even projecting her own disgusting associations on me in an act of deliberate deception.
Johnson lies again: Pamela Geller replies here. That’s gonna leave a mark, as they say.
Then he drags me in again:
Why does anyone continue to link to Geller, Spencer, or the equally ugly Gates of Vienna (who also make no secret of their support for fascists of all stripes, and is Geller’s source for this story)? If you”re a blogger, you should consider what it does to your credibility by supporting these people and their extremist agenda.
Why does anyone continue to link to Charles Johnson, who continually defames me and others with false claims that we support fascists? I have declared my opposition to the BNP and the National Front many times — and as far as the Vlaams Belang goes, have simply pointed out that his “evidence” that they are fascist at all is tenuous at best. If you’re a blogger, you should consider what it does to your credibility by supporting Johnson and his agenda of character assassination and defamation.
Johnson, of course, relies heavily on fellow libelblogger Kejda Gjermani’s guilt-by-association pieces purporting to establish that I am a “religious supremacist.” Since this is supposed to be a “hidden agenda” of mine, it is impossible to respond to — no one can prove that he doesn’t hold various positions secretly. But it is also ridiculous: I travel around the country giving talks calling upon people to defend the freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, equality of rights of all before the law, and the concept of non-establishment of religion. It would be extremely odd behavior to devote one’s life to building up what one actually wishes to destroy, and this demonstrates the paranoia and absurdity of the Johnson/Gjermani line.
In closing: many sent me a post by Elder of Ziyon, saying that the details of this blog war were not important, and that we should both cut it out. This is like saying Poland should cut it out and get along with Hitler’s blitzkrieg. Johnson has libeled me repeatedly, and is manifestly trying to destroy my reputation. I am going to respond as necessary.
UPDATE: James tells me that Johnson has characterized this present post as my “raving like a lunatic” — without, of course, responding to any of my substantive points. That speaks for itself, and ought to be clear to everyone outside of LGF sycophants.
