I saw Marisol’s reference here to “Monty Python’s deliberately flawed Hungarian phrasebook” — in connection to the ubiquitous Misunderstanders of Islam — and I realized I had finally found the key: the Islamic apologists who respond to explanations of how jihadists use Islamic texts and teachings to justify violence against unbelievers and Islamic supremacism by insisting that the Qur’an can only be understood in Arabic are the victims of deliberately flawed translations! That’s right: the Arabic phrase usually translated as “slay the unbelievers wherever you find them” is properly translated “my hovercraft is full of eels”!
Now if only they could track down all the Muslims who are responsible for producing these faulty translations in the first place, and their pesky coreligionists who continually misunderstand the Arabic original, and the imams who teach these regrettable misunderstandings…
(If you haven’t seen the classic comedy clip above, be advised that it is ever so slightly risque.)
