Remember: as the Ayatollah Khomeini said, There is no fun in Islam. The most prestigious championship match in the world has to give way before the Soldiers of the Pure.
By the way, Sky News, about those “Soldiers of the Pure”: Pure what? Why don’t you tell us?
“Badminton Team Quit Over ‘Terror Threat,'” from SkyNews, August 9 (thanks to all who sent this in):
England’s badminton team have pulled out of the World Championships in the Indian city of Hyderabad because of “a specific terrorist threat” against the event.
The eight-strong squad have withdrawn following reports of a threat by the Muslim extremist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The team, including Olympic silver medallist Nathan Robertson, were due to play from Monday.
Badminton England chief executive Adrian Christy said the decision to quit was “incredibly tough”.
He said: “After the Olympic Games, this is the most prestigious championships in the world but we were not prepared to risk the safety of our players, coaches and staff in what we felt could have been a very volatile environment.
“This was an incredibly tough decision and one we didn’t take lightly.”
Lashkar-e-Taiba – which is Urdu for Soldiers of the Pure – is a Pakistan-based organisation fighting against Indian control in Kashmir….
