And you thought Mafia Wars was annoying. “Terrorist No2 gets axe from Facebook,” by Simon Hughes for The Sun, April 26:
A second fugitive al-Qaeda leader has appeared on Facebook to spread terror messages.
Ayman al-Zawahiri has a £16.5million price on his head – equal to Osama Bin Laden, whose page was revealed by The Sun earlier this month.
Now Facebook has axed his page too – plus two more linked to the Taliban – after a Sun probe into extremist infiltration of networking sites.
Egyptian Zawahiri’s page had a photo of him with a semi-automatic rifle in the background.
Videos included a truck bombing in Afghanistan. The page could be found via a Voice of Jihad site, which included film clips calling for attacks on the UK and US.
Experts say militant groups have been scrambling in recent weeks to get on sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Facebook said: “These pages have been removed.”
