Watch for the howls of indignation from Islamic supremacists and their Leftist allies over the “Islamophobia” that WSU officials displayed by coming to the commonsensical conclusion that a note written in Arabic, expressing hatred for America, and giving a date and a time still in the future might be an indication of a coming jihad attack. Why, the writer of this note merely meant that he was going to pray extra hard at that hour that America would turn from its wicked ways. Jihad is an interior spiritual struggle, after all.
“Note written in Arabic puts officials on high alert at Westfield State University,” by Jeanette DeForge for The Republican, November 30:
WESTFIELD – Westfield State University officials and area police were put on high alert Tuesday after a note written on a napkin in Arabic was found on a table in the dining commons.
University officials contacted local and state police and state police notified the FBI, said David A. Procopio, spokesman for the Massachusetts State Police.
The note read: “America is the worst country in the world. I hate America much. November 30, 2010, 18:00.”
There was no threat in the note but the 6 p.m. time caused concern because it was found at 2 p.m., Procopio said.
“It could be some expression of their opinion about the U.S., which they are welcome to do under freedom of speech,” he said.
Two high school playoff games were scheduled to take place on campus, so police and university officials agreed to increase security. Extra state troopers attended the game, and two troopers from the Explosive Ordinance Device team attended, Procopio said.
University officials activated the Emergency Response Team and assigned extra campus police to patrol. Westfield Police also provided additional security, according to a campus spokesman.
“Fortunately 6 p.m. passed with nothing happening,” Procopio said….
