Berlin, August 30, 2011 – René Stadtkewitz, top candidate of the civil rights party DIE FREIHEIT (FREEDOM), will be the first and only German politician to speak at Ground Zero in New York on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Stadtkewitz, a longtime member of the Berlin House of Representatives, announced today that he gladly accepted the invitation from the organization “Stop Islamization of America” (SIOA) and the well-known political activist Pamela Geller.
“The three most important terrorists of the 9/11 attacks had studied in Hamburg and were also radicalized there. Germany must be made aware of this,” said Stadtkewitz. “But a year after the publication of Thilo Sarrazin’s book, Deutschland Schafft sich ab, (Germany is Eliminating Itself) nothing has changed here. We must not only openly debate the political ideology of Islam; we must also consider the political consequences of such an ideology. As opposed to President Wulffs statement in his public address on the 20th anniversary of German reunification, Islam itself can never belong to Germany.”
Stadtkewitz also intends to use the trip to consult with New York’s politicians and police officers concerning the zero-tolerance strategy in the fight against crime. “We also have to oppose the violent criminals in Berlin and the growing left-wing extremists in a fast and hard way. The current conditions are no longer tolerable.”
DIE FREIHEIT in Berlin will broadcast the memorial live from the U.S. The location will be announced shortly prior to the beginning of the event.
