CBS is running a story about honor killing, and Pamela Geller rightly asks: What took them so long?
Stay ahead of the mainstream media, which is increasingly just an Orwellian propaganda arm for the regime anyway. Be sure you register for our Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference on honor killings on April 29th in Dearborn, Michigan. Register here.
From Atlas Shrugs:
I am glad that CBS News is finally covering the increase in Islamic
“honor” violence and murder in the United States. It is unfortunate that
they did not mention the Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference on Honor Killing being held in Dearborn, Michigan on
the anniversary of Jessica’s death, April 29th. The enemedia
marginalizes our work and our reputations, but years later is forced to
address the very things we have been working on for years. This is a
pattern. It is also unfortunate that CBS did not mention the Aqsa Parvez Grove of Trees in memory of victims of Honor Killings worldwide. The first memorial of its kind. Or our taxi-top ad campaign designed to increase awareness of honor killing victims in the US.
The media is loathe to give our work the imprimatur of legitimacy,
but the fact is, we are marginalized because this is the work we do.
These girls have no lifeline. Child protective services won’t get involved in a “cultural issue,”
as this CBS report confirms. Further, Ms. Dahl feels compelled to run
the disclaimer by Jessica Mokdad’s complicit family and the the craven
cowards in law enforcement who are more worried about insulting the
ideology that commands such violence:Many people worry that focusing on these problems will spark increased anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiment.
Crimesider contacted a prosecutor in Michigan who worked on the case
of 45-year-old Rahim Alfelawi, an Iraqi immigrant who reportedly
confessed to murdering his 20-year-old daughter, Jessica Mokdad, in May
2011. The prosecutor, whose name Crimesider is withholding, was adamant that the case, which is listed on AHA’s website as an “honor killing,” was no such thing.“This has little or nothing to do with Arabic culture,”
wrote the prosecutor in an email. “It has everything thing to do with
male domination of women, something that transcends cultures.”He went on to write that the family does not want Jessica’s death
“used by the media to promote a continued Arab bias,” whether or not
the facts of the case showed that her father was unhappy with her
living a freer, more American style life than he would have liked. That’s what this “nameless” prosecutor” is worried about? He
should be fired. He should be worried about prosecuting this gendercide
to the full extent of the law and condemning the ideology that
sanctions and encourages it. According to Jessica Mokdad’s close friend Darwin Jiles,
Jessica was desperate to leave Islam, and she feared she would be honor
killed. Jiles described the abject terror that Jessica lived under.
Jessica did not want wear the hijab and “did not want to be of the
Islamic religion.”When Jessica Mokdad was found murdered, execution style, by her
stepfather, law enforcement described it as an honor killing. A year
later, they backed away from the “label,” fearing Muslim reprisals
similar to fears in Tampa, when the medical examiner and law
enforcement described the honor murder of Fatima Abdulah as a suicide.Mohammad Shafia made it clear that he killed his three daughters
because he thought his daughters were violating Islamic norms: “May
the devil s–t on their graves. Is that what a daughter should be?
Would a daughter be such a whore?” He also said: “God’s curse on them for generations. “¦ They betrayed Islam.“Please join us to address this horror. We will be in Dearborn on April 29th, Register: AFDI/SIOA to Host Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference in Dearborn, Michigan at Hyatt Regency
