This happens almost every day, and yet Islamic groups have absolutely no programs in place to try to prevent Muslims from misunderstanding their beautiful, tolerant Religion of Peace that respects the People of the Book. Now, why is that?
“Fairfax man accused of trying to smuggle cash for terrorists,” by Scott McCabe for the Examiner, June 5 (thanks to Benedict):
A Fairfax County man was arrested in a years-long sting in which he believed he was smuggling cash into Lebanon for the Hezbollah terrorist group, according to charging documents unsealed Tuesday.
Mufid Kamal Mrad, 64, of Vienna, was charged with attempted money laundering and bulk cash smuggling. If convicted, Mrad faces up to 20 years for the money laundering charge and up to five years for the bulk cash smuggling charge.
Mrad was released on his own recognizance by a federal judge in Alexandria. Mrad could not be reached by phone Tuesday.
According to charging documents, FBI agents began investigating Mrad as early as May 2008. Law enforcement officers used a longtime confidential source to record numerous telephone and face-to-face conversations in which they said Mrad discussed smuggling cash in the tires of used cars shipped overseas.
“[I]n a spot where your creator would not suspect. Your father’s father will not discover them,” Mrad said, according to charging documents.
Mrad claimed drug dogs cannot smell money when its hidden inside a car tire, and he could smuggle up to $2 million in his Volvo, charging papers say.
Mrad also claimed to have moved contraband, including money, through the Lebanese embassy using a diplomatic pouch, and in return he received hashish from Lebanon in the same manner, documents said.
On March 2010, the confidential informant met with Mrad at his home and hid 10 packages made to appear to be bundles of $10,000 each, wrapped in duct tape, inside a Jeep Cherokee, documents said.
Mrad then helped the source arrange to have the car towed to the Port of Baltimore to be transported to the Port of Beirut, charging documents said.
Mrad asked again whether the money was going to Hamas or Hezbollah, according to the document, and the source replied Hezbollah.
“I know they are for Hezbollah!” Mrad replied, documents state.
On Feb. 3, 2012, Mrad met with a second confidential FBI source at a Fairfax restaurant and patted the source to check for a wire, authorities said.
Mrad then talked about placing money inside cars for Hezbollah with two Shiite men….
