“Atatürk monument to be removed from Istanbul square,” from Hürriyet Daily News, December 8 (thanks to Joshua):
The Atatürk monument in Istanbul’s Kadıköy square will be removed in line with an upcoming building project, private broadcaster NTV has reported.
The controversial overtaking of the Haydarpaşa building was also part of the same project, which aims to reorganize the Kadıköy square.
An extension building to a planned culture center is set to replace the Atatürk monument, according to NTV.
