CNN reported on April 22 that “Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has told investigators his older brother Tamerlan was the driving force behind last week’s attack and that no international terrorist groups were behind them, a U.S. government source said Monday….Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, wounded and held in a Boston hospital, has said his brother — who was killed early Friday — wanted to defend Islam from attack, according to the source.”
But nearly three months later, PBS — without mentioning that statement — is hoping that the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will shed more light on the motive for the bombing.
If Tsarnaev had said that he and his brother carried out the bombing because they wanted to “defend Christianity from attack,” do you think PBS would still be scratching its head and wondering why they did it?

The blasts left three people dead and more than 260 injured. But within five days the key suspects were flushed out and tracked down, one of them killed, the other subsequently captured. They were brothers of Muslim Chechen background who’d sought refuge in the US with the rest of their family, as children in 2002….
KERRY O’BRIEN: The surviving suspect, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, last week pleaded not guilty to 30 federal charges, which could mean the death penalty or life imprisonment if he’s convicted. Hopefully the trial will also shed more light on the motive behind the bombing….
