SAN ANTONIO “” Federal prosecutors announced that a Somali man with terrorist connections and who supported the killing of non-Muslims has been sentenced in San Antonio to eight years in prison.
They said Friday that 29-year-old Abdullah Omar Fidse was sentenced the day before on one count of conspiracy to obstruct an immigration proceeding and one count of conspiracy to make a false statement during a terrorism investigation.
Fidse and a woman were detained when they attempted to enter the U.S. in the South Texas town of Hidalgo in June 2008. Authorities monitored their conversations while they were detained and learned they intended to falsify their testimony to immigration officials. Other conversations between Fidse and an undercover source revealed he supported violent jihad and admired terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.
