“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” said Barack Obama, and judging by how those who tell the truth about Islam and jihad are smeared, demonized and marginalized in the U.S. today, it won’t be much longer before more stringent laws of this kind come to the U.S. as well. “Calls for more stringent laws to deter insults against Islam,” from Bernama, August 12:
KOTA TINGGI (Aug 12, 2013): The Pertubuhan Penyatuan Pembelaan Melayu Malaysia (PPPMM) today urged the government to enact a more stringent law that will deter individuals from belittling Islam.
Its president, A.Rahman Mahadi said the law was crucial in the wake of such acts being committed rampantly particularly during Ramadan right up to Aidilfitri.
“PPPMM sees the existing provisions as no longer relevant and lax. We are concerned that people will perceive the government as weak in enforcing the law and would feel provoked to take matters into their own hands,” he told reporters at a peaceful demonstration staged by about 30 people at the surau of a resort near Sedili Besar here, that was claimed to have been used for Buddhist religious activities.
He also said the Home ministry should not remain silent, “to prevent the different communities in the country from becoming disunited”.
“PPPMM wants the public particularly the young generation to remain united and to remember the social contract adhered to in the country. They must take the nation’s history to heart for the sake of preserving harmony,” he said. — Bernama
