“Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013
More fruitful “dialogue”: “Mortar round hits Vatican embassy in Damascus, say sources,” from AFP, November 5:
A mortar round hit the Vatican embassy in Damascus on Tuesday morning, damaging the building but causing no casualties, a diplomat told AFP.
“A mortar round fell this morning at 6:30 am (0430 GMT) on the embassy rooftop, causing only material damage,” said Giorgio Ghezza, counsellor at the papal nunciature.
Mortar rounds have frequently hit areas of central Damascus, and President Bashar al-Assad’s regime accuses rebels positioned around the capital of firing them.
