On this edition of my ABN Jihad Watch show, I interview Mark Tapson, a Hollywood-based writer and screenwriter and a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, on the depiction of Islam and Muslims in Hollywood feature films, and how it has been affected by 9/11 and the trumped-up hysteria over “Islamophobia.”

What refreshing commentary. Love the new sight. Been following you since 9/11/01.
kuffar geoff says
It seems that when we speak of the 9/11 tragedy nowadays, we have to indicate which year.

I’ll get to the program later. For now, here is an egregious example of the subject matter in “2 Guns” (starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lhE29Bu1K0
You’re sure to get the feeling that Whites = simpletons/racists and Islam/Muslims = misunderstood victims. The worst part of it is when Denzel’s character drives off, leaving one of the “simpletons” prostrate.
Shame on Denzel and Mark for allowing the scene to be written, let alone produced.
Now, could that scene have been “inspired” by, say, one of the producers–a Jordanian by the name of Motaz M. Nabulsi? I would just about guarantee it.

Pretty scary when their victim-card propaganda gets promulgated thru Hollywood. If they succeed, can you imagine the blow it will deal to American freedom fighters and, in a nutshell, our politico-cultural reality? This is getting increasingly bizarre!
Bettina says
Just browsed at the MPAC (Muslim Political Action) website. It’s disheartening how civic and civilized they sound, and how they’re using all our democratic phrases and sound bites to promulgate their treacherous fifth-column agenda of Muslim supremacy. Makes me want to vomit. If you have a minute, check it our yourselves — ugh!

Mark’s remark about the leftist desire to be dominated is accurate. I see this among Jewish leftists who hate the whole idea of Jews having power. Their mentality is stuck back in the ghetto, where the necessity of passivity and appeasement was seen a virtue. These sad people project that attitude elsewhere, and will tend to oppose any expression of national self-assertion or self-defense. It’s time for them to liberate their minds and get out of their self-imposed exile.

No mention though of Argo although I didn’t watch every second of the clip.
In Argo, American exceptionalism is played to the extreme and except for the Canadians no other country is willing to help.
This flies in the face of the historical record which shows that the New Zealand ambassador was a key figure in the escape.
In fact the Ben Affleck character overslept on the morning of the flight and had to be woken up by the Ambassador (Chris Beeby).
The Affleck character had in real life been on a bender the night before.
So much for the monastic, do-gooder, never deviate from the path of truth, CIA operative.

Additionally, ‘The Great Escape’ and ‘U571’ depict British/Commonwealth war exploits with no US involvement whatsoever.
Why was Steve McQueen inserted into The Great Escape? US money insisted on an American hero.
U571 wasn’t captured by the US Navy. It was sunk in the closing stages of WW2 by an Australian aircraft.
The actual U boat capture that obtained the naval codes was by a British submarine and occurred before the US entered the war.
Don’t be surprised if Muslim money/influence requires a positive spin on Islam. US money has been at the same game for years.

Stealth Attack Double-Standard Multiculturalism in North Carolina
(Michael Palin in the Sahara) has been on the PBS line-up all week.
It portrays Michael Palin ‘befriending’ Muslim tour guides in North Africa as he travels and respectfully examines their Islamic & Bedouin cultures.
His sometimes pandering display is tolerable and expected until he reveals the full depth of his willingness to grovel in submission to Islam with a stop at the place where he and his fellow actors filmed “The LifE of Brian” because of course, no groveling to Islam would be complete without mocking Christianity.
Lengthy scenes of “The LifE of Brian” are shamelessly replayed in stark contrast to his earlier reverence to Islam.
If PBS is so willing to sneak this by then the have absolutely no good reason not to show
(THE INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS) all week long as well.
Vote Yes to PBS showing (THE INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS) all week long as well.

PBS is inadvertently illustrating a key difference between islamic culture and Western culture. “The Life of Brian” is allowed to exist in Western culture and people are allowed to enjoy it if that is their type of humor. There is no equivalent to “The Life of Brian” in islamic culture. We Westerners (and some lucky islamics) live in a much richer and diverse culture due to our tolerance.
Islam destroys diversity.

Criminal complicity similar to whitewashing the Nazis in 1935.
Suggestion to Hollywood: realistically depict the Shi’ites in one film, the Sunnis in the next. Film makers are on the front line of the war between truth and falsehood, freedom and slavery. Islam is slavery.
The life of Mohammed should be accurately depicted in film, the film shot in absolute secrecy and released simultaneously in every country . Mohammed’s absolute depravity and savagery should be depicted in gory detail.
We should immediately stop buying their oil.

Hollywood is the lady of pleasure and Muslims are the “Yahyas.” If the Yahyas can bankroll it, the Yahyas will get what the Yahyas want. After all, it is show business–where principles are illusory.

Even fairly decent films like “Captain Philips” have to bend over backwards with noting how “deprived” the Somali pirates are.
The first “Iron Man” film was not perfect, but was pretty good—one of the main villainous groups was clearly modeled on the Taliban. By the third film, though, there was a muddled mess that somehow implied that Muslim (not that they ever used the word) terrorism was somehow trumped up by the West. Shameful.
“Argo” has probably been the best of the bunch re recent films—they fudged a bit on details, but the broad outline was spot on. Also, it *enraged* the Mullahs, and that’s never a bad thing.
For the most part, though, Hollywood has steered clear of depicting Jihadists at all—just as they did of Nazis *even after WWII had started*.
Kudos to Edward G. Robinson and Warner Brothers with their “Confessions of a Nazi Spy”, which finally broke the ice.
Will Hollywood finally come around this time? With the chokehold of “political correctness”, I’m not sure I’ll be holding my breath…
