These Islamic jihadists are from a group that calls itself Tawheed wal Jihad. Tawheed is the Islamic concept of absolute monotheism, and jihad is the Islamic doctrine of warfare against unbelievers. Yet the one thing that Western analysts routinely discount in their analyses of jihad terrorism is the religious motivation, despite the fact that the jihadists themselves constantly explain themselves in terms of Islam.
“Egypt upholds death sentence for 14 militants,” from Reuters, February 10:
CAIRO (Reuters) – The Egyptian presidency upheld the death penalty for 14 people convicted of attacking police in North Sinai in 2011, signalling the army-backed authorities’ determination to press a campaign against Islamist militants.
The condemned men, all from the Tawheed wal Jihad (“Monotheism and Holy War”) group, were sentenced in 2012 to hang for killing three police officers, an army officer and a civilian in attacks on a police station and a bank in the town of el-Arish in 2011.
Deposed president Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood did not sign off on the implementation of the sentences during his one year in office, which ended when the army deposed him after mass protests against his rule.
Mursi’s overthrow has triggered a wave of attacks on the security forces in North Sinai and further west in the towns of cities of the Nile Valley and Delta. The state has declared that it is in a war on terrorism.
Militant groups flourished in North Sinai in 2011, expanding into a security vacuum left by the collapse of state authority after the downfall of president Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
The army is waging a campaign there to reassert state authority. The military has said 16 hardline Islamists were killed in North Sinai air strikes last Friday….

The truth is that’s the way to follow when dealing with troublemakers, enemy of humanity, adherents of islam.
When will we in the west would learn something from such examples. I fear it’ll be too late by then.

In general and by nature I am against the death penalty. In fact, there was a time when I was ABSOLUTELY against it.
Islam caused me to revise my thinking on this.
And if you think about it, that is pretty momentous, because it is extremely rare for a person to change a fundamental belief, and usually takes a major event to cause that. Mine was becoming aware of the reality of dehumanizing, misanthropic Islam.

Unfortunately when Brotherhood members die violently they become instant martyrs.
Founder Al Banna was assassinated and Qutb executed and both are revered more as dead martyrs than they were alive.
It’s that fateful morbidity of Islam where they say ‘you love life, we love death’ at play and it really doesn’t get more extreme than that.
Hitler thought along similar lines, telling Sixth Army head Von Paulus who had requested permission to fall back at Stalingrad that they must hold to the historic honour of that army and fight to the last man.
That martyrdom obsessed insanity eventually cost him the war.

That’s why I keep saying: Egypt is the ONLY country I’m aware of that is SERIOUSLY fighting Islamic terrorism.
Terrorists must face justice and if convicted, they must be EXECUTED.

The snake is swallowing its tail, the autocratic klepto cultural Moslem eating the truly religious one. I root for the former, they are as good as Islam can be. Somebody needs to watch the activists who would dare to act on the Bad Book, the commands of the Holy Ko-Ran.
And the billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars we give them ain’t a gift, it is in exchange for cleaning the pant soilings from their religion, make sure it doesn’t run out of their leg and onto innocent Infidels.

I don’t know of *anyplace* that has made Islam illegal, Bob.
And while France *is* fighting Jihadists in Mali, Hollande is also urging the French at home to “embrace Arab (i.e., Muslim) culture”.
The fact is that there isn’t any country that is really standing up against Jihad in a consistent manner. And Egypt itself is still persecuting Christians, has a FGM rate in excess of 90%, and considering Shari’ah as the basis for the new constitution.
As the Alarmed Pig Farmer noted, the kleptocratic authoritarian brand is preferable to the full-on Jihadist, but it would be a mistake to believe that any Muslim country is truly rejecting Islam.

Whenever you see that word “Tawheed”, usually inadequately translated as “Oneness” or “Unity”, you should perhaps think “The Blob” or “The Void”.

that’s 30 terrorists/militant murderers down.
there are certainly occasions where the death penalty is warranted.
i hope they start to protect the Copts and other minorities in like fashion.
this is the only way. its all they respect. here in the west, these 14 would have choked the legal system beyond all reasoning.
Egypt, in this case, and hopefully many others to come, youre doing it right.
and there will be many more to come.
this is really heartening. Egypt expelled the Moz Brotherhood and now seem to be aiming for secularism. just wonderful.
other Islamic nations would do good to follow this example. in secular government and dealing with these criminals against humanity.
unfortunately it may be only Tunisia, (hopefully at least) but India, mostly Hindu can take a leaf from this.
i will enjoy seeing what Egypt (again, hopefully) does with its expats fighting in syria.
its interesting how the population has had a taste of Islamic rule, were fervent about it at first, then realised it s not the way to go.
real reform and clear stance. just excellent. of course, time will tell and maybe it will change again, its a volatile place. but Egypt enjoyed a long period of secular rule ending not so long ago. Keep this up, Egypt, and take your place amongst other decent societies.
we can only hope.
we’ll never see it in the west unfortunately.

I also oppose the death penalty for several reasons, but jihadists are not civilian criminals committing crimes, they are soldiers in the army of Allah. They should be dealt with the military way, whatever that is…

I’m looking forward to the trial of Mohammed Morsi. Hopefully, it’ll come out how much the muslim-in-chief in the WH is involved and then watch the sparks fly!
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
Don’t count on it. The military junta that is thankfully in charge is also on the U.S. taxpayer money payroll. Look for the trial to deftly sidestep anything that would impugn the unimpugnable Prez Barack Hussein. Morsi might shout the truth from his defendant cage, but that will be shrugged off as the bleatings of a self-interested mad man.

Nice to see one of the Muslim Countries with the courage to face down Religion. There will be NO freedoms or rights until people start separating religion from Government. The problem with all the Muslim Countries is that they are mostly tribes. No sense of a bigger entity to call a State or Country.
