Iran nuke top dog: “Iran got more than it gave”; its commitments “temporary and non-obligatory”

Feb 26, 2014 4:27 pm By Robert Spencer

We all know that Iran is moderate now, and that, entranced by the negotiating wiles of John Kerry, voluntarily agreed to give up its nuclear program and rejoin the world community of happy, prosperous nations marching confidently into the future. We must believe this on pain of charges of “Islamophobia.” Yet the Iranians are open and gleeful in avowing how they wrung concessions from the West and their nuclear program is galloping ahead; they know that there is nothing they can say that will hurt the deal, because the Western press won’t print anything that reflects unfavorably upon Barack Obama.

“Iranian Nuclear Agency Spokesman Kamalvandi: Iran’s Commitments Are ‘Temporary and Non-Obligatory,'” from MEMRI, February 21:

In a recent TV interview, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said that Iran had “got more than it gave” in the Joint Plan of Action, signed in November by Iran and the 5+1, and that Iran’s nuclear commitments were “temporary and non-obligatory.” “The commitments made by Iran can be retracted,” he stressed.

Following are excerpts from the interview, which aired on IRIB1 TV on February 21, 2014:

Behrouz Kamalvandi: [The West] is trying to achieve, through sanctions and negotiations, what it could not achieve by means of threats. This is obviously impossible.

[…]

Regardless of what some Western countries think, time is not on their side. They think that since the sanctions are still in place, time is on their side. Undoubtedly, time has been, and will continue to be, in Iran’s favor. They sought to use time to accomplish their goal of curbing our nuclear program. Since they could not dismantle it, they sought, at the very least, to curb it. This never happened.

From 160 centrifuges, or maybe even less, we have now reached 19,000 centrifuges. This is in terms of quantity. The leap was much greater in terms of quality. The West knows this full well. This does not appear in the media.

Economically, these sanctions were hollow. Some people thought that these sanctions would be paralyzing. These sanctions may have been annoying, but certainly not paralyzing.

[…]

The commitments made by Iran can be retracted. These were voluntary commitments.

[…]

In the Joint Plan of Action, Iran got more than it gave. This has been the case so far. The main reason for this is that the other side has de facto accepted that Iran can continue its enrichment, even though the purpose of all the U.N. Security Council resolutions and sanctions was to get Iran to freeze its uranium enrichment. This is our most important achievement.

Secondly, Iran’s commitments are temporary and non-obligatory.

    When I heard these pronouncements from Russian Communists, I took them somewhat seriously.
    Now that I hear it from an arrogant horse’s ass, I’m not quite convinced.

    19,000 centrifuges is a lot of danger to the personnel. It is hard to believe the safety of the operators is assured in these labs. I think Iran is putting the health of thousands at risk. The destabilizing of the region will result in a lowered standard of living and more health effects and economic depression in the surrounding area. The enrichment has no purpose in power generation, since fuel pellets can be purchased from many countries.

    Since Iran is intent on using nuclear bombs on other countries I think a preemptive strike really is the only option left. WTF is the world waiting for, the bombing of Israel, do they really think they will get Israel before Israel will castrate them?

    Signed paper is only good for one thing because Iran is too full of Shi’ite

    Video clip with comics and music

    There are certain historically bad decisions made throughout history. Neville Chamberlain declaring peace in our time after meeting with Hitler in Munich is one. Granting Iran sanctions relief without firm concessions to dismantle its nuclear program is another. What the West forgets and why this is such a bad deal is that we are conditioning an agreement on the “hope” of compliance from a nation whose leaders answer to the word of God as interpreted by the supreme leader. At best that seems whimsical. At worst it’s very naive. Any agreement needs to call for concrete demonstrations of compliance; otherwise you can never ensure real change. Iran has never demonstrated it can follow through on agreements and unless it does so now, agreeing to lift sanctions on a promise is absurd.

    Talk about rubbing your face in it. it is really laughable that talks continue while Iran continues snubbing the west and espousing hatred toward it. What a comedy this is; except for one thing, when they get a bomb they will use it on Israel first. Why in hell shouldn’t we believe in what we are hearing. Are we that bloody stupid that ignoring their threats is the best option, or suffering selective hearing problems.

    Fancy the Great Satan just sitting back and copping this on the chin. I don’t feel comfortable being on the side of such fools and wish like hell Iran does something that will get us off our arse and finally deal with these fanatics.

    I don’t think another 9/11 would do it either. The US will probably take responsibility for it by blaming it on their foreign policy and all those sanctions that have pushed Iran into a corner.

    The world is getting sillier by the day. Is the west on valium?

    Underneath this, Iran is not targeting the world’s only innovator but the region in general, the House of Saud in particular. HOS is aware that while Iran stares down at Israel, its old Safavid gun is pointing at them, for two reasons. 1. It privately claims that HOS was complicit in their inclusion in the ‘axis of evil’ that demonized them to the corner they are in. 2. The old 7th century beef of managing worship. Mecca is the ultimate prize towards which it agitates via its Shiite diaspora.

    Iran thinks there are no conditions under which the US would retaliate following a first strike. They could not be more wrong about that. When they finally do build their first nuke, I hope that the President will make this abundantly clear to them.

    Any so call “negotiations” between Obama’s boy, Kerry and the officials of Rouhani, Ayatollah Khameni and the mullahs who have supreme power is Iran will have the outcome that at its very best will be nothing bur actions of futility. At its worst will be a total disaster. For the disingenuous officials of these ruling Islamic clerics really do know who to dissimulate. They will engage in the Islamic doctrine of Taqiyya. Which is the teaching of in Islam that lying and deception is a good thing as long as its done for the good of Islam. The those Islamic fanatics who have all the power in Iran are so irrational in their mad Islamic quest to obtain W.M.D. that in the religious delusion they must actually believe that they not only have the right to have but to use nuclear weapons. Thus in any dialogue the dictators of Iran will try to get as much sanctions lifted as possible. This is not to, as they claim , to make life more easy for the people of Iran but that the rulers of Iran may in a more easy way get the materials they need to construct nuclear weapons. For in the mad and irrational kind of Islam they have a strong belief in a coming Islamic messiah, they call this character the Twelfth Imam or the Mahdi. which they believe will come and then set the whole world “right” in an Islamic way.Nevertheless , first this Mahdi to come thing in the Middle East need to get worse and not better. That is where W.M.D. come in.So ,in others words,in order to hasten the coming of this Mahdi they they want to have and then use W.M.D. Furthermore, they also want W.M.D. because they hate the State of Israel, which they call the little Satan. They hate the United States, which they call the great Satan. Also they hate all the other countries of the West and all the non- Muslim people in them. Moreover, at a group lecture that I attended in which the guest speaker was a doctor who was in times past an Iranian citizen, a Muslim, and a Hezbollah member who is now a Christian and an American citizen was asked near the end of his lecture,during the question and answer part. “What about the new Obama deal that was so far made with Iran ? ” The speaker answered “It is a disaster. It’s a disaster for Israel, it’s a disaster for the Iranian people,it’s a disaster for America, it’s a disaster for the Middle East and a disaster for the world.”

    Iran’s NOISY BRAZENNESS is surprising at first glance.

    Normally, after getting the better of the other guy in a negotiation in business, a lawsuit etc., a wise person will try to enjoy the gain QUIETLY.

    The NOISE Iran continues to make indicates that they have a personal lock on the Obama administration, perhaps through a mixture of

    (a) BRIBERY (through Valerie Jarrett – who grew up in Iran and empathizes with it – Obama’s corrupt money man Nadhmi Auchi – billionaire from Iran’s colony Iraq);

    (b) political sympathy among FELLOW TOTALITARIAN POWER-WORSHIPERS;

    (c) terrorist INTIMIDATION – Iran’s Revolutionary Guards are known to have cultivated an extensive network of sleeper cells in the West. Malia and Sasha Obama will not want to spend their entire lives in witness protection. Iran’s NATIONAL SOCIALIST MULLAHS have all read and internalized “Mein Kampf” and can be VERY PATIENT.

      And this makes them, to me, that much less trustworthy, although they could not be too much less trustworthy to begin with. We have an Administration that is either needs glasses or is purposely trying to weaken the US, you decide for yourself.
