Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Nigeria: 53 murdered as armed Muslims enter church during service, lock doors, slit throats of those trying to escape

Feb 2, 2014 5:11 pm By Robert Spencer

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike at their necks…” — Qur’an 47:4

An update on this story. “Nigeria: death toll rises in Boko Haram attacks,” by Carey Lodge for Christian Today, February 1 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

The number of fatalities resulting from attacks in Nigeria on 26 January has risen to at least 138.

Islamist terror group Boko Haram, officially labelled a ‘Foreign Terrorist Organisation’ by the US government in November last year, is suspected to have coordinated the violence.

‘Boko Haram’ translates as ‘Western education is sacrilege’. The group has ties to Al-Qaeda and is responsible for over 2,000 deaths in Nigeria since 2009. Its leadership has declared it aims to cleanse the country of Christians, eradicate Nigerian democracy and replace it with an Islamic state guided by Sharia law.

On Sunday, armed militants attacked a church in Adamawa State in the north-east of the country. They locked the doors before the end of the service and shot at the congregation, slitting the throats of those who tried to escape. They also detonated bombs before going on a four hour rampage, burning houses and taking hostages from the village.

Initial reports recorded 22 casualties. However, that number has now risen to 53, with dozens more wounded.

Comment was sought from Bishop McManus because he is such a big supporter of “interfaith dialogue” with Muslims, each of whom, no matter where found in the world, follow the same book. But a spokesman said that the bishop was “indisposed” (likely from having “bent his elbow” the night before – ed.) and couldn’t comment. Maybe the bishop will do some dialoguing with his Muslim friends before he himself experiences murder taking place while he conducts one of his Masses.

I wish I had more time to study Pope Francis’ history in detail including in Argentina.
I don’t expect to hear Pope Francis make any bold statements against Islamic doctrine of course because the MSM and CAIR folks would throw a tantrum and put up a smoke screen. Still I keep hoping that what appears as cluelessness is a part of a strategy of offering ‘dialog’ to prevent being quickly labeled as Islamophobic should he dare say anything critical.
His recent Time and Rolling Stone covers are on the one hand disturbing, yet if should he actually decide (a big if) to make a stand today, the LEFT and CAIR would not be able to dispute his PC credentials.
If only we could get the mainstream media to force the issue and ask him why he is not taking a more active stand to support fellow Christians.

Jay Boo: Pope Francis reminds me of Pius IX, who started out with liberal intentions but, when bitten by them from the 1848 revolutions onwards, did a 180 and became a reactionary. Verdict still out here, of course, but I would opine here to the effect that I prefer a Western leader (like a Pope) who knows the way things are from the get-go and who doesn’t have to learn on the job. Benedict did. Francis, it seems, doesn’t.

Thanks, PJG, for that link to the Quadrant article. I read it with great interest.

Seems Francis likes neither Marxism nor capitalism and wants “a third way.” Well, all the third way attempts have proved bogus. No economic system ever devised by man has been as successful for the greatest number of people in a society as has capitalism. But, and this is a big “but,” capitalism, like democracy, must be suffused with a moral order or it quicly becomes a sham version of itself. So often when criticism of capitalism occurs, what is really going on is a criticism of capitalism gone bad, and the criticizer cannot distinguish between the two. I wonder if Francis can. I rather doubt it. The problem does not lie with capitalism per se but with a lack of ethics.

I particularly was dismayed by Francis’ association, since his pontificate began, with Leonardo Boff. Whatever’s the matter with the Third World, it isn’t anything someone like Boff can fix. Liberation theology is so flawed from the get-go. For instance, as the article mentioned, its conviction that capitalism is a zero-sum game, that if somone is making money, then someone else must be losing it. I’ve had many students over the years think of capitalism this way and my response to them was that to think such a way means that you simply don’t comprehend that it’s not the case that you have a pie of certain size and that’s it, that some get a piece and others don’t. Rather, it is the case that it is an ever expanding pie that all can partake of if a society has four things: democracy, capitalism, a proper moral order (count out Islam here) and an enlightened legal system (count out Islam here too). Any society with all four of these can prosper. Minus one or more of these and a society will fail, only the degree of failure being a variable. I don’t think Francis gets all this. I know the liberation theology folks certainly don’t.

Thanks again for the article. It was well worth the read.

Another indispensable key to appreciating the merit of capitalism is to dispense with Perfection: to strive to be better, not perfect. As George Will said: “Capitalism requires a certain amount of suffering.”

All other systems for organizing society economically veer toward either of two opposite extremes: Piratical gangsterism or Utopianism. Islam, as usual, is unique in embodying the ideal of, and trying to pursue, both of those extremes simultaneously.

        Wellington,

I am getting impatient with Francis too. He does not “get” islam the way Benedict did. Much too much talk about an Israeli – Palestinian peace deal.

Francis has become a darling of the left because of his hinting on a softer Catholic stance on gay issues.

Benedict called islam out on the barbarism of conversion by the sword. Lots more world leaders need to call out islam on everything this moon god excrement “religion” stands for. Not all about just a few terrorists.

Still amazing to me how asleep most of the world is.

That would be a strategy no less clueless, strangely ignorant of the prevalent irrationality of the PC MC Mainstream which damns you if you do, and damns you if you don’t, and only accepts nothing less than Correct Conformity. It’s long past time for us to be walking on eggshells for fear of what the PC MC might think of us.

The liberals by and large support the killing of Christians in the U.S. Many of the liberals live vicarously through this death cult I expect. They would rather see christians killed than survive that’s how insane most liberals are in the U.S. I expect Islam will defeat the West some day, though it won’t happen in my life time. How can the west win a war when half their populations support this kind of insanity either directly or indirectly through ignorance. Liberals pose a major threat to the survival of western civilization just like islam.

DO THEY KNOW SOMETHING WE DON’T? 😉

    Of course they do.

Silence is complacency which eludes to silent approval.

This sort of daily ongoing violence would never go unanswered or reported if it were muslims on the receiving end.

The general public is totally clueless regarding the war that Muslims are waging against Christians and Jews, Hindus and Buddhists and nonbelievers all around the world. If they deleted the Islamic symbol from that silly bumper sticker, it might actually work; but not until then. As long as Islam is part of the equation, that sentiment is total nonsense.

I totally agree that anyone in danger of attack by violent Islamists should be armed & capable of defending themselves. But those Nigerian Christians may not be able to afford to buy guns, and machetes are a poor match for AK-47s. The Islamists are armed by fellow Muslims with oil money, but no one is arming Christians or Buddhists or Hindus in these danger zones. There needs to be an organization that provides weapons for endangered non-Muslims in places like Nigeria, Egypt, Syria, the southern Phillipines, southern Thailand, etc.

Muslims are not without shame until they turn to the Quran.
Then Muslims who still have a shred of decency are reminded of their ‘Profession of Faith.’

The Quran is meant to breed witnesses who stay complicit to rationalize sins.
This is to help dehumanize the so called infidels
Otherwise Muslims must admit to each other what all Muslims know is true
Muslims manufacture a willful indignation to sin from their disgrace
and that of their false prophet too.
Islam is founded on infidels not on the ‘Allahu Akbar’ God.
Allah is merely a pathetic stage prop.

I am a member of the Parish Council of the congregation to which I belong.

A couple of meetings ago, we were discussing a Safety Audit of church premises that had recently been undertaken (we have a lot of elderly members, so assessing the state of things like steps and railings is very apposite and necessary). Fire safety and fire evacuation procedures also came up, of course.

After we had spent some time reviewing what the congregation is supposed to do in the event of a fire breaking out while we were all in the building, I said, “And what do we do if someone barges into the building and starts shooting at us or throwing grenades?” ( I refrained from including the further descriptor: “while shouting allahu akbar”).

Tableau. The only people who weren’t totally shocked were the other two members of Council who work or have worked as primary-school teachers, and are therefore familiar with the concept of “lockdown” and procedures re the sudden appearance of a dangerous person or persons in premises/ on the grounds.

We didn’t discuss further, but at least the question was raised and maybe people went away with a burr sticking in their brains.

It’s a serious question. I will have to raise it again, somehow. My particular parish church is in a city suburb; on a main road; our church, like many in Australia, is completely open to the street, with neither a gate nor a fence; anybody at all could walk in at any time, during the service, and would not likely even be noticed approaching. A car could drive in and park literally in front of the main doors – which is very convenient for the elderly and infirm, and for the hearse at funerals, but could also be very convenient for persons of ill intent. And there are mosques a couple of suburbs away, in two directions; only a short drive, a matter of maybe five to ten minutes.

Every church – and every synagogue, and every temple, every visibly non-Muslim place of worship – in every country that, although majority non-Muslim, has a large-ish colony of the Ummah or Mohammedan Mob proliferating in their midst, has to now ask itself the question: what do we do if, one day, someone – or more than one – yelling allahu akbar, bursts through the door from the street and starts firing at us? Or a strange car parks in the front driveway..and goes boom.

Muslims have beaten up vicars, on church grounds, in the UK, in the heart of London; Muslims have smashed church windows with rocks; Muslims have barged into at least one church in France, that I know of, and hurled handfuls of gravel at the (mostly elderly) worshippers; in Australia, during the so-called Cronulla riots, Muslims burnt down a church hall, and fired at cars in the car-park of another church, while a service was going on.

Sooner or later, there will be an attack on Christians *within “the West* that will be as violent and brazen as the attacks that have already happened in Pakistan, Iraq, Northern Nigeria, Egypt…

Jews have already been attacked – Mohammed Merah’s murders of four people, three of them small children, in the grounds of the Jewish school in Toulouse, being the most egregious example.

Places of worship and schools constitute “soft” targets, here in the west and in many places beyond the West. Jews, in the West, already, are pretty security-conscious around their synagogues; but I doubt that Christians, or Hindus, or Buddhists are even barely aware that they might one day be attacked, right *here*.

Anyone here who serves on the equivalent of a Parish Council – or for that matter, a Parents’ and Citizens or a School Board – needs to start asking the sort of question that I asked.

Synagogues in Turkey resemble armed fortresses — yet that wasn’t sufficient to stop muslimes from blowing up two synagogues on the same day, killing 26 people in the early 21st century. The sentences for those muslimes convicted of conspiring to blow up two synagogues and murder 26 people ranged from 3 to 6 years.

It is much harder to be a Christian, we are called on to love those who hate us to pray for those who want to hurt us. So I do pray for all those who murdered those innocent people. I pray that God,Jesus Christ saves their soul.
