He was no threat, but no one bothered to explain why he had Molotov cocktails in his apartment. And that makes sense. The only people who would want an explanation are greasy Islamophobes, and they have no rights that anyone is bound to respect. And now that Akhshabi is dead, we will never know if he had a jihad attack in mind for Atlanta or anywhere else. The incident will be forgotten — until a jihadist comes along who is a bit less inept with explosive materials.
An update on this story. “Burned Georgia Tech student dies from injuries,” by Alexis Stevens for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, March 6:
The Georgia Tech graduate student burned over 90 percent of his body last month died Thursday, the Institute said.
Saamer Akhshabi was burned in a Feb. 4 explosion inside his apartment, where investigators found a suspected Molotov cocktail and several plastic bottles filled with gasoline and kerosene. Akhshabi, 26, was transported in critical condition to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died early Thursday, Georgia Tech shared with the campus.
“We have worked closely with other law enforcement agencies during the investigation of this tragic incident,” Robert Connolly, interim police chief for Georgia Tech, said in an emailed statement. “The FBI has relayed that, to date, they have not developed any information or evidence indicating criminal intent in this investigation.”
Investigators determined that Akhshabi was not a threat to the Georgia Tech community, Connolly said. But no information was released regarding why Akhshabi had the explosive materials.
Akhshabi was studying in the College of Computing at Tech, where he had attended since 2009, according to his web page. He was scheduled to graduate in May. Prior to moving to Atlanta, Akhshabi completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Tehran in Iran, his native country.
“Saamer’s initial prognosis was very bad, but he fought for more than a month,” Zvi Galil, dean of the college of computing, said in a story on the Institute’s website. “Our faculty and students visited him regularly, often staying for hours at a time. This was an excellent, promising student, and all of us in the college deeply mourn him.”
The College of Computing is raising funds to help Akhshabi’s parents return his body to Iran.
White Pride says
Tragic? You make it sound so innocent. He clearly had plans to to cause severe harm to someone. That makes him a terrorist.
Kalliope says
It is tragic.
This young man died in bondage to a Satanic cult.
Christ does not delight in the deaths of unrepentant sinners; why should you?
Mirren10 says
”This young man died in bondage to a Satanic cult.”
Aren’t you glad he didn’t survive to have another go ?
Kalliope says
No.
I don’t feel glad over anyone’s death.
Over 90% of his body was burned. He was in unimaginable pain.
He died because of his adherence to ʾIslām.
It is too late for him to change his beliefs.
That is the tragedy.

Kalliope says
You’re raving.
And where do you see me making excuses?
Point them out, please.
I do feel pity for this man who died enslaved toʾIslām.
If he had embraced Christianity, as so many Muslims have already done, he could have turned his life around. The truth would have set him free.
My God says to love my enemies.
And I do, even though Muslims took my husband away from me.

I personally lost EVERYTHING to Jihād. Did you?
And yet, I wish to free Muslims from their death cult through the love of Christ.

Kalliope my heart goes out to you. Obviously your devastation has had an affect which none of us can really understand. However, I’ve studied islam for years. Even converted. Til I truly achieved a deep, full understanding of islam. I can tell you that ppl born and raised muslim will not reject their faith for many reasons. Islam is strict and rigid. It forbids ppl to leave islam. To do so is punishable by death. Ppl are taught superiority. Quite frankly, the way a Muslim’s thoughts are processed is different than non muslims due to a life of brainwashing by the false prophet/madman mohamed. Have you met many muslims (born into islam) who have rejected islam? I am a revert who rejected islam & I have NEVER met a living ex muslim like this. It’s beautiful that you have this hope and faith in humanity but the ugly truth is that they are taught to use these beautiful qualities against you. In the end, it comes down to this. Allah will forgive a muslim for lying to get you to convert. If u don’t convert, allah will forgive (actually reward) a muslim for sadistically raping, torturing and murdering you. It’s really considered an act of peace to them because it means 1 less nonbeliever in the world to oppose world domination by islam. Trust me. I lived it.
yaya says
Kalliope, even though I know your beautiful compassion is wasted on ppl of this cult (as I believe they’ve been tricked into serving satan by mohamed-their ideology and behavior is pure evil), I want to tell you I admire and respect your kind, compassionate, forgiving disposition. It’s exactly what we do not find in islam. To me, your attitude is that of a true christian who lives the word. Nothing but respect for you. ♥
Maria says
It is true that Muslims have been brain-washed since birth, but that does not mean that they do not know the difference between RIGHT and WRONG! If they don’t know the difference, then God Word must NOT be true because God clearly stated in His Word saying that he Himself wrote His laws in our (humanity’s) hearts, therefore, when we break a carnal rule – we feel bad/sorry! Why? Because it is against human nature to do evil – yet we do it! But, when we were little children, we were innocent, and not willing to do wrong. As we grew older, we quit listening to that “still small voice” that God put in our hearts, and chose to listen to another voice, and allowed that dark voice to live in us, then rule over us! We made the choice to entertain the rebel voice. Many entertain it too often for too long – then the soul walks in gross darkness. The reason why some Muslims do genuinely convert to Christianity, while others resist is because deep down inside, they always knew that “love” is patient and kind, and is the principle thing; that “reason” is better than “passion;” that “laws” should govern our heart and mind. As the bible says, “Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issue of life.” Therefore, if the Lord be God, follow Him; if Baal (Allah), follow him. God will soon plead with mankind during the coming “latter rain.” Then the “sheep”and the “goats” will be divided. Individually pray that you may be accounted worthy! In the mean-time defend our borders, as Israel has throughout history had to defend theirs from the “heathen” nations. Israel’s heathen enemies are also America’s enemies. “Heathen” because they know not God; as we are “unbelievers” because we know not Allah!
Kalliope says
@Champ
Thank you,
It’s really telling how people become unhinged just because I don’t express joy at a wasted life.
Kalliope says
@yaya
Thank you.
Though I too haven’t met any Muslim converts, I do know several Muslims who were won over by the genuine kindness that my husband and I showed them. At least they are willing to talk about Christianity without any hostility and without resorting to taqīyah.
Would they ever convert? Who knows. But at least it is a step in the right direction.
yaya says
I’m sure it feels that way. You’re good and kind so you see the good in your encounters and progress with them. But the odds are against them choosing their friendship with you over their obligations to their faith – and believe me, their faith directly forbids any true friendship with non believers. It’s a complex ideology and difficult for the non muslim mind to fully grasp. Quran advises to convert or kill all non believers & if they have to lie to gain your trust, their lies are forgiven, for they’re conning infidels in the name of islam. I know every individual is different & many show us what we want to see but always know that if he’s muslim, it’s probably an act when they are showing any of the traits associated with jesus. Please guard yourself. Imagine if satan had a big army on earth. What would they be doing? Raping babies? Mutilating genitalia? Teaching intolerance? Teaching supremacy of his followers? Using women & children as sex slaves? Tricking good men into lifetime slavery? Teaching that beastiality is ok as long as the animal gives his consent? Commanding us to murder ANYONE in our family who rejects islam? Raping the elderly to the point that their entrails are hanging out -as long they’re an infidel? The sad thing is that the list goes on. This is evil. This is islam. Represented by muslims.
Kalliope says
@Maria
I agree with your post except for where you stated that it is against human nature to do evil.
We are fallen creatures, and we have the propensity to commit evil – great evil. But even in our sinful state we are still connected to Our Holy Creator, which is why we also have the propensity to commit acts of great goodness. As we age we must strive and fight for our better nature, the nature of Christ.
The Apostle Saint Paul, Romans 7:18-20:
For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
A true Christian will fight against hatred and strive for a safer nation. It is not dichotomous to do both. Many people who have commented on this site don’t realize this.

Thank you for mentioning that!!! So many ppl don’t believe me when I mention the media’s fear of mentioning this!!! It’s disgusting. The people have a right to know who the criminal is & if they’re muslim. Knowing this helps us understand who we need to protect ourselves from. It helps us understand that crimes happen a lot at the hands of muslims & maybe islam is the motive!!! Perhaps? Ya think? What is everyone so afraid of??!!!

The Qur’ān:
The ravings of a demon-possessed sociopath, the list of Muḥammad’s iniquities goes on and on, with no end in sight.
Even Muḥammad knew he was possessed. He tried to commit suicide; alas, he was not man enough to end it all. He allowed himself to used by Satan, and reveled in the destruction he wrought.
The ‘Prophet’ of Pit follows the example of his demonic god Allāh, “the best of deceivers”:
Allah the Best Deceiver

Allah – The Greatest Deceiver of them All
http://www.answering-islam.org/Shamoun/allah_best_deceiver.htm
Muhammad: The Example of Ethical Behavior
http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Muhammad:_The_Example_of_Ethical_Behavior
That last link is a dozy, because it lists the Prophet of the Pit’s model Muslim behaviour in all its fetid glory: abuse, anger, theft, murder, vengeance, lust, incest, adultery, deceit.
The world is a poorer place because of ʾIslām.
WD, you are a poorer person because of ʾIslām.
You choose to follow a deceiving god.

How sad.

And you are right; Allāh is NOT the god of the Bible.
If he were, ʾIslām would not persecute Christians and Jews.
The people who say that are people with a cursory knowledge of the Bible and/or the Qur’ān.
Or trolls.
Daniel says
Proverbs 8 personifies the Wisdom of God. The parallels between this and what John writes about the “Word” in John 1 are fairly obvious.
In Proverbs the Wisdom not only pleases God, but it rejoices before Him, in other words there is a reciprocal relationship between God and His Wisdom. This Person of Wisdom also loves man and delights to be with man.
Pro 8:30-31 Then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.
Unfortunately this passage also ends with a warning. Prov. 8:36, “but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.”
This young Jihadi found death because he missed the Wisdom of God and followed a way that extols and claims to love death.

How do you get from “The FBI has relayed that, to date, they have not developed any information or evidence indicating criminal intent in this investigation.” to “Investigators determined that Akhshabi was not a threat to the Georgia Tech community, Connolly said.”
If you don’t have any information about his intent… how can you possibly make a statement about his intent?
The only thing as stupid as that statement is that the media just reports it and the public buys it. You think the obvious question would be “How do you know that if you know nothing about his intent?”

Agreed.

If he was such a nice boy, why did Allah punish him like that?
He may be punished in the hereafter right now as well. Allah always keeps a pot of boiling water and some hot molten lead on hand just in case. Of course it’s possible the boy did nothing to offend Allah, but we all know Allah gets bored and often takes his frustrations out on pious Mahoundians for no particular reason. This could be one of those times. As far as liquid explosives in plastic bottles, it is suspicious because no self respecting jihadist leaves home without at least one gas hand grenade.

I seriously doubt the the whole college is deeply mourning. College campus’s everywhere has far too many young ladies dressed in their western fashion for someone to mourn anything for long. Especially over a deranged muslim who was obviously planning to cause grievous harm to someone. Why not mourn Freddy Kruger?

But they did come to visit him….. Why would anyone visit him? I would want to know this, they may be the next threat. College campuses are a breeding ground for brainwashing, and the young mind wants to believe in something. Most are not sophisticated enough to truly understand the menace of what they are being taught. I hope this boy was conscious and without pain meds.

I’ll bet there’s a lot more to this news story that’s being suppressed (not by JW or R.S.) but by the authorities or perhaps the news media itself.
Linus Adenoids says
Agreed.
We mere readers here of Jihad Watch and of th’ Media in general can only “know” what’s right there in front of us, presented to us by writers whom we either trust or don’t. They have their sources, leaks are provided by/to those sources for a variety of interior selfish reasons, axes to grind, gettin’ even…on and on and on.
That’s why I’m always mentioning that unless we’re actually sitting in on those meetings behind those closed doors, how can we possibly “know” what’s going on?
Only by reading authoritative, peer reviewed History can we start to learn.
But the evil Catch 22 of all that is that reading History is no good to us right now with our fast moving events. So, round and round we go, always remaining really uninformed except for what we read here leaked to “authoritative sources” by……who?….exactly. We really don’t know, do we?
That’s why I mentioned the Molotov Cocktail Man’s Television Good Looks contributing to the responses posted here. Regardless of what he looked like, he had the serious makings of Molotov cocktails stashed in his apartment. He was an Iranian. Frankly, it seems that he was just another of our Muslim student visa holders resident here standing by for the perceived correct time to set off some explosions.
Caveat emptor, even here.
