Meet the old boss, same as the new boss. This is nothing more or less than a form of tribute, a jizya payment that will not help any Pakistanis and will only increase the Pakistani intelligentsia’s contempt for the West. It has been obvious for years that the Pakistanis have been aiding the same jihadists that the U.S. government has been giving them billions of dollars to fight. The New York Times reported on that at length back in 2008. And recently we learned that Ahmed Shuja Pasha, the head of the ISI, the Pakistani government’s spy service, knew the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, and apparently so did many other top officials in the Pakistani government. So what will happen to this money? It is more likely that it will go for jihad than for education.
“Ex-British premier says international donors will give Pakistan $1 billion in education aid,” from the Associated Press, March 29 (thanks to Kenneth):
ISLAMABAD – Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says international donors have pledged to provide Pakistan with about a billion dollars over the next three years to help it provide education to millions of out-of-school children.
Now a United Nations special envoy on global education, Brown said Saturday in Islamabad that the global community will partner with Pakistan in financing the biggest education expansion in the country’s history.
Pakistan recently doubled its education budget, from two to four percent of its gross domestic product.
Brown says the goal is to provide education to more than 55 million people over ten years old who are illiterate in Pakistan.

Stephen, not being an American I am not sure I understand what does “putting knife in this…(or that)” mean.
A Canadian friend here can’t figure it out either, although to my Danish/Polish ear you guys are using the same language (he doesn’t think so). He suggested something like “putting a fork in it”, but wasn’t sure. Care to enlighten me on that?
I wouldn’t be so intrigued if you haven’t have called the comment “brilliant”. But wouldn’t you be intrigued too if I met your comment with such high compliment and then proceeded to tell why I think so – in Polish?
So, in case that wasn’t a sarcasm, do let me know quickly the meaning of the expression. I am afraid you have awakened the sleeping giant of my vanity.

Brown is the latter and a haggis sucking one eyed dhimmi surrender monkey into the bargain.
It takes a socialist like him to blank out the fact that if as a person you’re committed to surrender to Islam and it’s demands, what use do you have for knowledge as we in the west know it ?
If 64% of Muslims coming out of school in Copenhagen are illiterate after 10 years schooling in the west, maybe there’s a problem with MUSLIMS.
MAYBE they should all stop sleeping with their sisters and first cousins.

All countries are corrupt, even Christian ones! So rather than have the Billion dollars end up in the pockets of the ruling elite or worse, give the cash to NGO’s like World Vision or Save the Children. BTW, Pope Benedict XV approved of Save the Children Fund in 1919 shortly after it was founded in England.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
All countries are corrupt, even Christian ones!
What matters is how corrupt each is, which always goes to the why and how of the corruption. On this, Moslems take the cake. Their corruption is that of world takeover, and of Ulema subsidieary takeover of individual lives within a population in order to be able to operate a kleptocracy. The big bonus to the Ulemics is that, not only do they get the money and the girls, they get to be pious about it.

I have never understood the logic behind British politics. They throw billions of pounds in aid at hostile peoples who want the destruction of Western civilization; yet they have a subtle irrational dislike of Eastern Europe, which is much closer to the West in terms of history, culture, religion and love of peace.
There is something truly perverse about making a long tradition of helping that which obviously can’t be helped while treating your own European kin with indifference or disdain. Go figure – but then, when trying to understand Britain’s sense of priorities, maybe we should adopt the approach that “no sense makes sense”.
SAMMY says
You have a great idea there about the needs of Eastern Europe who indeed are Christian and of like culture. But the same problem. How to get the Billion dollars to those who need it. Their Governments, and according to a previous comment, even NGO’s, are not trustworthy. I repeat, I’ll give my Billion dollars to that needy woman with three kids who I see every day at the Salvation Army store and the Food Bank. Will she be surprised!
Reality Check says
Thank you. The problem is I didn’t make myself clear enough – I do not want the billions of British pounds to be diverted onto Eastern Europe. What I want is a clear and simple understanding of the fact why Britain tends to obsessively focus on peoples that obviously don’t appreciate its help and are still as backward in mentality as they were when the help first started. As far as I’m concerned, Pakistan and its ilk are a quagmire for billions of pounds that could have done much more good elsewhere.
Britain’s traditional obsession with helping what can’t be helped can only be described as total insanity and Einstein’s definition of insanity fits perfectly with what Britain does: “… doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Say, isn’t Brown the guy who set the Lockerbie bomb mass murderer free? Even though Islam is a religion hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists, the mass murderer was met at the airport in Tripoli by a huge throng of Moslems weeping tears of appreciation, admiration and joy.
Apparently Brown didn’t catch that part. Now we see him throwing taxpayer dollars to Moslems through the NGO conduit, that, in the hands of the Sharia Meissters running Pak, will only result in the unlikely further worsening of education.
Bet he feels good about himself, though. But should the taxpayers?
Charli Main says
Most of the “education” will be done in mosques and madrassas learning Jihad and the rest spent buying Chinese weapons for the “educated” to practice the Jihad they have learnt.
Of course, none of the money will be spent on educating Pakistani women.
Pakistani women asking for education usually get a few Taliban bullets in the back of the head.
Wellington says
Several commenters above have, quite understandably, expressed wonder (as well as disgust) as to why Britian’s elite, as exampled by Brown and Cameron, continue to remain so clueless about Islam. I would posit that there are two reasons, which actually are only one. Here they are: 1) the attraction, going back many generations, for some Brits “to go native” and 2) rampant political correctness and multiculturalism (pc/mc).
The first is really nothing more than an anticipator of the second, an early form of pc/mc in effect, before it was ever described as such. And, of course, this also helps to explain the foolish inability by many British elites over many generations to comprehend that Eastern European nations need far more sympathy and aid than does the non-Western world. After all, Eastern Europe is still Europe, now isn’t it, and this doesn’t really allow for “going native” or for pc/mc to kick in.
thomas_h says
hey Wellington, my friend
”After all, Eastern Europe is still Europe, now isn’t it, and this doesn’t really allow for “going native” or for pc/mc to kick in.”
It is more like a silly romantic dream of communion with the noble savage.
Eastern Europe is not brown enough and therefore, even if adequately savage, not sufficiently noble.

There is also the energy issue, Europe including the uk needs oil. Lots of oil (and some gas) that comes from islamic countries. Until alternative fuel sources (and/or fuel) are found, the ruling elite shall continue to give in to the demands on islamic countries (realistically, gulf states especially saudi arabia). The first industrialised (semi-industrialised) non-islamic country that could defy this islamic nonsense that has permeated this world would is one that is completely energy independent. Burma, though not an industrialised country, is taking a stand against islam/islamic-supremacists/islamic-violence. She has plenty of oil.

Instead, all non-Muslim majority-nominally-Christian countries that currently give “aid” to Pakistan should have been telling Pakistan that until and unless Asia Bibi was declared innocent and released from prison and, with her family, allowed to leave Pakistan and proceed to her country of asylum of choice (Australia, Canada, New Zealand all suggest themselves as suitable locations – I’d be more than happy to welcome this courageous Christian sister of mine into my country), and until and unless all *other* persons currently accused of ‘blasphemy!!!!’ were similarly declared innocent and released and the non-Muslims among them allowed to leave Pakistan free and clear with their families, ALL foreign “aid” these countries were proposing to give to Pakistan would be cut off, full stop, zilch, nada.
Might be worth a try.
Frankly, what needs to happen is a complete full stop to 1/ “aid” to Islamic Pakistan 2/ trade with Islamic Pakistan (yep, they do sell stuff – rice, cheap clothes, I’ve seen the rice in the supermarket, labelled ‘product of Pakistan’, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole); and 3/ all admission – into *any* non-Muslim country anywhere – of Muslims from Islamic Pakistan. Time to cut them off. Shun them.
Aardvark says
“I’ve seen the rice in the supermarket, labelled ‘product of Pakistan’, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole”
I apply that principle to ALL foods I buy in the supermarket. Most packets include a ‘country of origin’ label. Anything that says ‘Product of xxxx’ where xxxx is a mohammedan country goes back on the shelf. Preferably underneath a packet that says ‘Product of Israel’.
dumbledoresarmy says
The Christian charity, “Barnabas Fund”, supports small *Christian* church-run primary schools in Pakistan. These teach *the children of Christians*; many of them from very, very poor families. Not sure whether they take other non-Muslim children. Possibly they would.
They do this because the children, if they attend the state schools, are subject to continual and nasty mistreatment and are constantly pressured to convert to Islam; this from both the Muslim teachers and from their Muslim fellow pupils.
The UK government would do some good if they quietly handed Barnabas Fund some of this ‘education aid’ money to help it create more of those little Christian schools (whose educational standard is pretty high despite their shoestring budgets) and perhaps found ways of assisting other non-Muslim minorities in Pakistan to educate their children within an Islam-free learning environment. Since those minorities are mostly the poorest of the poor, engaged in the lowliest of jobs (making bricks, sweeping the streets), they surely qualify as priority recipients.
In the long run these people will probably be driven out of Pakistan; but if they are, then if they have already had a decent primary education, they will be much better able to assimilate and contribute wherever they ultimately find refuge.

Sounds like the usual Brown stuff that desperately needs to be wiped off and flushed or better still washed off.

This sort of thing would be disgusting and foolish enough under any circumstances, but that such “tribute” is being given no-strings-attached while Pakistan systematically abuses, imprisons, and murders non-Muslims there makes it all the worse.
