Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Malaysia plane’s “religious” Muslim co-pilot spoke mysterious last words just before signalling systems were shut off

Mar 17, 2014 11:18 am By Robert Spencer

FariqAbdulHamidMainstream media stories are all reporting that Fariq Abdul Hamid was “religious” as if that were an indication that he couldn’t have been involved in the plane’s disappearance. The fact that Osama bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki and Khaled Sheikh Mohammed and Feisal Shahzad and Abdulhakim Mujaid Muhammad and John Walker Lindh and Adam Gadahn and a host of other Islamic jihadists living and dead were or are “religious” never seems to occur to these “journalists” — or maybe they just don’t want it to occur to you.

“Missing flight’s co-pilot was religious, not reckless: family,” by Niluksi Koswanage for Reuters, March 14:

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – Friends and family of the co-pilot who flew the missing Malaysia Airlines jet said the 27-year-old was religious and serious about his career, countering news reports suggesting he was a cockpit Romeo who was reckless on the job.

Fariq Abdul Hamid, who joined the national flag carrier in 2007, was helping to fly the Boeing 777 whose disappearance on Saturday has turned into one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries.

There has been no trace of the plane carrying 239 people nor any sign of wreckage as the navies and military aircraft of more than a dozen countries scour the seas across Southeast Asia.

Australian media reported that Fariq and a pilot invited two women to join them in the cockpit on a flight from Thailand to Malaysia in 2011, where he smoked and flirted with them.

Jonti Roos, a South African living in Melbourne, confirmed to Reuters that the incident took place but said she did not feel that Fariq behaved irresponsibly.

Malaysia Airlines said it was shocked by the allegations in the report, which was based on photos of the apparent cockpit meeting and an interview with Roos.

Smoking has been banned on almost all commercial flights since the late 1990s. Cockpit doors have been reinforced since the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington and passengers have largely been barred from entering the cockpit during the flight since then.

The report also angered some of Fariq’s friends, some of whom took to social media to rebut the report first aired by Australian Channel Nine’s A Current Affair program.

Fariq, first officer of Flight MH370, had clocked a relatively few 2,700 hours of flying.

He had wanted to become a pilot from his school days, said a relative who asked not to be identified.

“He is a good student. He worked very hard to get where he was. His parents are so proud of him,” said the relative, who had visited Fariq’s family home for prayers in the outskirts of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

Fariq and his family are Muslims, like a majority of people in the Southeast Asian nation….

“Malaysian jet mystery: Last words from Malaysia plane believed from co-pilot: airline,” from Gulf News, March 17:

KUALA LUMPUR: The last words spoken from the cockpit of the Malaysian passenger jet that went missing 10 days ago were believed to have been spoken by the co-pilot, the airline’s top executive said Monday.

“Initial investigations indicate it was the co-pilot who basically spoke,” Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya told a news briefing.

The last message from the cockpit – “All right, good night” – came around the time that two of the missing plane’s crucial signalling systems were switched off.

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and his first officer Fariq Abdul Hamid have become a primary focus of the investigation into the fate of Flight 370, with one of the key questions being who was controlling the aircraft when the communications systems were disabled.

The last signal from the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) was received 12 minutes before the co-pilot’s seemingly nonchalant final words.

ACARS transmits key information on a plane’s condition to the ground.

The plane’s transponder – which relays radar information on the plane’s location – was switched off just two minutes after the voice message….

‘Religious’ Muslim? You mean one who believes in Sharia law and the re-establishment of the caliphate, the end of democracy, free speech, women’s rights, and minority rights? Ah…a jihadist.

They are finally admitting what we are saying…the pilot is a ‘religious’ MUSLIM (not a religious Seventh Day Adventist or Buddhist).

A ‘religious’ Muslim is a jihadist.

That is nonsense. Among 2.6 billion Muslims, there are remarkable differences. Few Sufis engage in violence, the Ahmadis renounce jihad, and the majority of Muslims are peaceful by nature and practice. To make sweeping remarks like yours is to abandon any rational discussion based on facts. Many Muslims are pious, but they don’t think jihad is a proper modern expression of their faith. Rashad Ali has recently published a super monograph on how many classical jurisprudents within Islam showed that continuing jihad was not the only option. You should read it and a lot more besides, because Islam is a nuanced affair and ignorance o;n our side doesn’t help to advance a serious debate.

Your use of ‘nuanced’ gives you away as a Leftist clown! Also, the number of Muslims world-wide might be around 1.6 billion, but not your estimate, 2.6 billion.

However, the number of Muslims, millions of whom probably have moral standards much higher than their thieving, murdering, pedo pseudo-prophet’, is not the point.

The point is that Islam’s teachings and doctrines command Muslims to ‘kill the infidel wherever you may find them’, and to ‘fight until Islam prevails over all other religions’. And it’s the teachings and doctrine that matter, not individual Muslims who do not follow them to the letter.

Furthermore, Al Qur’an says that those who do not fight, literally, are closer to ‘unbelief’ than to belief. And unbelievers are considered to be apostate and are up for murder according to the four mainstream Islamic schools of jurisprudence.

And as for the Ahmadis who have renounced Jihad, what is happening to them? They are being murdered as fast as their pious brethren can manage.

It’s wire-wigged, baggy-trousered, red-nosed clowns like you that betray us all with your crass stupidity!

          @Buraq,

I’ve read there’s some dispute as to whether amadhis have renounced the concept of jihad in its entirety, or just certain aspects of it. In any case, I wouldn’t trust them, because their holiest man is still a lying, mass murdering, Jew hating SoS.

“Many Muslims are pious, but they don’t think jihad is a proper modern expression of their faith.”

So you’re arguing that there are moderate Muslims. So instead of 1.6 Billion who believe in Jihad it’s 1 Billion who believe in the principle of Jihad.

Who cares. You’re splitting hairs. The point is the Qu’ran clearly teaches Jihad against un-believers.

“Rashad Ali has recently published a super monograph on how many classical jurisprudents within Islam showed that continuing jihad was not the only option.”

Whoever this person is doesn’t matter. The 4 schools of Islamic Jurisprudence ALL teach Jihad against unbelievers. Rashad Ali sounds like a lone voice in a sea of Islamic law advocating Muslims to fight all unbelievers until Islam is the dominant religion.

        Mar 17, 2014 at 2:47 pm

Dear Denis: The problem with Islam is that it is a rigid “WORK’S RIGHTEOUS THEOLOGY” where by one must EARN their admission to “paradise” ( which consists of eternal carnal pleasures of things forbidden on earth – wine, multiple sexual partners,72 virgin young girls and maybe young boys as well) etc. At no time during life is there any certainty of this paradise, and one must wait until the Day of Judgment to find out if your good deeds out way your bad deeds (sins) and there by gain admission to heaven
The pecularity with Islam that makes Islam very dangerous for nonmuslims (and even muslims) them selves, is that JIHAD against unbelievers counts as good works! In fact the ONLY way to bypass this requirment that your good deeds out weigh your bad deeds is that you die while waging war against the unbelievers ( who may be muslims but just not your kind od muslim -shia vs sunni etc). This is why young men and women are raped by older jihadiis so that as they cannot possibly do enough good deeds during there life time to atone for such transgressions they agree to die as suicide bombers.

2.6 billion muslims right? All muslim countries are so backward that it will be impossible to go further back in time. They will NEVER allocate resources to keep any good record of their population, because it is not important to them. Who cares if Ali has two kids or twenty. Do you know how many baby girl fetuses they terminate ? Everyone is alarmed about the unnatural disproportional ratio of boys to girls born in Muslim countries and in some it is about 60 to 40. Current gestimate of the Muslim pop is 1.2 billion. Here is something that you forget to mention: over 800 million Muslims are illiterate. Again JWatchers don’t look at the context in which his family said he was religious. It was in response to the news reports which showed that he invited several women (not his relatives) into the cockpit of his plane when they were not authorized to be there. They are emphasizing his religious morals because people are insinuating he may have been up to something with those women in the cockpit. His family is trying to say that he isn’t a playboy.

He doesn’t have a beard and if he was really religious (practicing), he likely wouldn’t take this job since he would most likely miss praying time with all the flights he makes.

With our PC population here in the US and in Europe we have doomed ourselves unless we wish to become less PC which to my eyes is the only way to save ourselves.

There are two types of troll: 1) the kind that do one-time drives-by tossing a load from their colostomy bag out the window at our establishment to plop on our doorstep then speed away with brakes squealing; 2) the kind that stick around to try to blow clouds upon clouds of noxious smoke of obfuscation in long-winded sophistical replies to other commenters who valiantly take time out to refute them. “Denis MacEoin” would be of the #1 variety.

It certainly appears that way, Voegelinian—and yet, his issue, as you noted, most closely resembles #2…

(Really, I know this is beneath me—I just couldn’t resist…)

For anyone wanting to get a handle on Islam in Malaysia and in Indonesia, both of which are routinely touted as “tolerant” and “moderate” Muslim countries (never mind that more than a third – 38 percent – of the total population of Malaysia is not Muslim at all), I recommend the sections on Malaysia and on Indonesia in V S Naipaul’s book “Among the Believers” (1981) and in its follow-up, “Beyond Belief” (1998). (The sections on Pakistan and Iran are also very illuminating). What is clear from the second book “Beyond Belief” is that in the course of 17 years all four of the countries Naipaul described in the first book – Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia – had all become (and were still intent on becoming) more heavily Islamised than they had been when Naipaul first visited …and in the process, were being morally, politically, socially, economically and environmentally degraded.

And for further reading on Indonesia, there is also Dutch scholar C S Hurgronje’s “The Acehnese”.

I recommend you actually check on the background of the authors like Naipaul and Hurgronje before humiliating yourself by recommending their books. I doubt you even read the books except excerpts quoted by other people.

Naipaul is a well known mysoginist, wife beater, and spent most of his time degrading ALL non-western societies regardless of religion and praising the west as superior to colored black and brown peoples.

Hurgrongje only had issues with the Acehnese because they resisted the Dutch while he had no problems with Javanese Muslims and he was even friends with the Arab Grand Mufti Sayyid Uthman of Indonesia.

Anyone want to get a handle on the violent, racist, mysogonist, women beating V. S. Naipaul, checked these articles out.

He said some very unflattering things about NON MUSLIM third world countries in Africa and the Carribean to in addition to his repulsive behavior. In fact, all of his works insult non-westerners in General and support neo-colonialism. He is basically a brown sahib and a supporter of western racism against even his own people,

And FYI C. S. Hurgronje just wrote crap about Acehnese in particular since he was fighting them, he didn’t have any problems with Javanese Muslims and he was even friends with the Arab Grand Mufti Sayyid Uthman of Indonesia, calling him an ally and asking him for advice on Islam.
