“War is deceit,” said Muhammad, and Ased Abdur-Raheem, formerly (and currently in the mainstream media, ever anxious to protect the image of Islam) known as Nicholas Teausant, took his words to heart. “don’t get me wrong I despise america,” he wrote on Instagram, “and want its down fall but yeah haha. Lol I been a part of the army for two years now and I would love to join Allah’s army but I don’t even know how to start.” When he thought he had found a way, he ended up getting arrested. One may hope that while he is in jail he ponders on how Allah could have allowed that, and realizes the evil of the course he was on.
“Interview with Nicholas Teausant on March 14,” from News10, March 17 (thanks to Omar):
On March 17 the U.S. Department of Justice arrested Nicholas Teausant, 20, of Acampo, Calif., for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. News10 interviewed Nicholas Teausant on March 14 at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton regarding a controversy involving a man who was wearing military clothing on campus. Teausant identified himself as a member of the Army National Guard.
“Complaint: Nicholas Teausant told informant he hated U.S., would kill his own mother,” by Kristopher Anderson for the Lodi News-Sentinel, March 17 (thanks again to Omar):
An Acampo man facing a terror charge wrote that he despised America and would kill his mother if necessary to fulfill his ambition to harm the U.S., according to a complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
He also aspired to attack the Los Angeles subway system, the complaint said.
Nicholas Teausant, a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and current student at San Joaquin Delta College, appeared in a United State District Court in Washington on Monday, where he was charged with a single count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. He agreed during the hearing to be returned to Sacramento to face the charge.
Following his arrest late Sunday night, the U.S. District Court released a copy of the complaint filed against Teausant, detailing plans to bomb a Los Angles subway, see America in a state of civil war and join al-Qaida.
The complaint paints a portrait of an increasingly disaffected young man who grew bent on harming the U.S.
Teausant first voiced his desire to join al-Qaida on May 31, 2013, when he wrote on Instagram, “don’t get me wrong I despise america and want its down fall but yeah haha. Lol I been a part of the army for two years now and I would love to join Allah’s army but I don’t even know how to start,” according to the court documents. That post was referenced below a picture of Teausant standing in front of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineering Sacramento sign.
Three months later, Teausant wrote an online post asking for help obtaining a “lone Mujahid pocket book,” which is a how-to guide for becoming a “lone-wolf terrorist,” according to the complaint.
On Oct. 3, 2013, the FBI launched an investigation into Teausant’s activities, using an undercover law enforcement officer and a confidential civilian informant who received financial compensation.
During the next several weeks, Teausant corresponded frequently with the civilian informant, via text messages and in person meetings in Stockton, about his desire to fight in Syria with an al-Qaida spin-off organization called the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
On Oct. 20, Teausant asked the informant if he could “get them to the places they needed to go,” the complaint said.
Days later, Teausant’s desire to fight overseas escalated after reading articles on Inspire, an al-Qaida magazine, the court said. He reportedly texted the informant, “we HAVE TO DO SOMETHING NOW!”
Teausant stated his goal was “maximum fear and a maximum blow to the U.S. government so he could watch it tumble and fall in the wake of a civil war,” according to the complaint.
Teausant and the informant corresponded less and less over the coming weeks, but on Nov. 18, Teausant told the informant, via text, that he’d met two “brothers” and was making plans to “start a Free aid program in the US for the western branch,” court documents report.
On Dec. 5, Teausant asked the informant how to acquire a firework “with the biggest boom and the one that’s also compact” from Chinatown, the complaint said. Teausant later texted the informant, “Don’t go to LA Anytime … Please trust me on this … and if you do go don’t use the subway.”
In a phone call later that day, Teausant revealed that during a weekend camping trip with seven people, they discussed “hitting” Los Angles on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, specifically targeting the subway in Los Angles, according to the complaint.
On Jan. 4, during an face-to-face meeting, Teausant told the informant that the plan had been “tipped off” when someone was arrested by the FBI through contact on Facebook, according to the complaint.
“All these red flags are like popping in my head,” Teausant said, which caused him to terminate contact with those individuals, the informant reported.
During the conversation, he said he’d recently gained custody of his infant daughter, but arranged custody so that if he “disappeared” his mother would have parental rights while he was “off doing what (he needed) to do,” according to the complaint.
Teausant added that he wanted to bomb his daughter’s daycare because it was at a “Zionist reform church,” the complaint states.
Teausant also talked about his plans to fight in Syria with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the informant reported. He said Teausant planned to travel to Canada via Greyhound, then fly to Syria, where he could train with fighters to shoot properly.
When the informant dropped Teausant off at his home that day, Teausant said that if his mother were to “jeopardize something that I had going, I would do what I needed to do.” Teausant added, “If I needed to, I would kill her. I love her, but she’s still a kufar (infidel or non-believer),” according to the complaint.
The informant said he suggested tying her up instead, but Teausant replied, “it’s just easier to put a bullet in the head” because “if you tie someone up, then you got to worry about them screaming …”
During the coming weeks, Teausant said he would travel to Syria during his spring break so the trip wouldn’t look suspicious, according to the complaint.
On Feb. 1, during a meeting in Lodi, the informant said his “mentor” was interested in speaking with Teausant about traveling to Syria, but the mentor was concerned Teausant’s blog was “too vocal,” according to the complaint.
The court documents say a video, which was later removed, depicted an American soldier in Iraq standing in front of a dead Iraqi. The video later shows the same American soldier beheaded, with a caption that reads, “This is why you don’t mess with us.”
Teausant said that once in Syria, he had no plans to return unless President Barack Obama was dead, Congress was gone, and there was “anarchy and chaos,” the complaint said.
The complaint reports that Teausant intended to make a video for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, but said he wouldn’t cover his face. He would be “the one white devil that leaves their face wide open to the camera.”
Teausant said that his desire was to be a “commander … in front of every single newspaper in the country,” and on the FBI’s top 12 most wanted, “because that means I’m doing something right,” the complaint said.
On March 7, during a meeting at a park in Stockton, the informant’s “mentor” — who was actually an undercover law enforcement officer — granted Teausant permission to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, and instructed Teausant to purchase flight tickets, according to the complaint.
The following day, Teausant told the informant he needed to sell his laptop in order to use the money for a ticket. The informant arranged for Teausant to sell it to a “friend,” who was an FBI special agent.
While some information was deleted, a significant amount of information, including Inspire magazine articles and searches for “how to build a bomb,” still remained, the complaint said….
