Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Minneapolis: Somali Muslims protest against Kenya counter-terror efforts

Apr 16, 2014 8:08 am By Robert Spencer

twincitiesprotesters0414_640bThe Kenyan police might really be cracking down too hard on Muslims after the recent bombings, but these charges of police injustice and brutality follow a familiar pattern: they’re remarkably similar to charges Muslim groups have made in the U.S. — that the FBI and police target Muslims indiscriminately, mistreat them in custody, etc. These claims also resemble the narrative of “Palestinian” jihadists, that virtually any and every action of the Israeli government to defend itself against the “Palestinian” jihad is “disproportionate,” brutal, etc. For years Muslims have been campaigning against NYPD surveillance of Muslim communities, claiming that it was disproportionate and unjustified, and yesterday they succeeded in getting the surveillance program ended.

So we see Muslims ostensibly opposing jihad terrorism, and yet protesting against counter-terror efforts in the U.S., Israel, Kenya and elsewhere. One might almost get the impression that these charges of brutality and disproportion are always leveled against any counter-jihad action, as a tactic to clear away all obstacles before the advancing jihad.

Note also that when Islamic jihadists mostly from Somalia, and apparently including some Somali Muslims who lived in the United States, carried out a bloody jihad massacre at Nairobi’s Westgate Mall, the “Twin Cities Somali community” mounted no protest against this alleged twisting and hijacking of their peaceful religion.

“Twin Cities’ Somali community demands justice for families ‘under siege’ in Kenya,” by Ibrahim Hirsi for MinnPost, April 14 (thanks to Halal Pork Shop):

After members of the Twin Cities’ Somali-American community said their afternoon prayers Friday, they gathered at the state Capitol to express solidarity and demand justice for relatives in Kenya.

Reports from human rights groups, news stories and communications with relatives describe abuses against Somalis in Eastleigh, a suburb of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi that is known for its large Somali population.

As part of an ongoing counter-terrorism crackdown, Kenyan security forces launched house-to-house searches in Eastleigh last Monday. They forcefully snatched people from their bedrooms in the middle of the night, put them in trucks and took them to jails and detention centers.

Thousands have been arrested and scores expatriated to war-ravaged Somalia, according to news reports. Among the arrested are pregnant women, children and seniors.

Amnesty International reports: “Somali refugees had faced intimidation, beatings and unlawful detention at the hands of security forces.”

Nearly 100 picketers joined the Friday demonstration in St. Paul, condemning actions by Kenyan government and demanding the release of those detained.

Jibril Afyare, an activist who organized the demonstration, said the event was meant to raise awareness and ask the U.S. government to intervene and stand with Somalis in Kenya.

“The Somali refugees and Somali-Kenyans are under siege,” Afyare said. “They’re detained illegally in mass numbers. We demand the Kenyan government to stop the human rights violations and crimes against humanity.”

Fatush Ibrahim, a demonstrator and a longtime St. Paul resident, said in an interview that her brother was arrested in Nairobi last week. She said Nur Ibrahim was born in Kenya and had his identification documents at the time of the arrest. No one asked him to show an ID, she added.

“They forced my brother into the car,” she said. “They abused him verbally and physically.” He was taken to a Nairobi jail cell, flooded with sewage, and later released, she said.

Decades-old abuse

When the civil war erupted in Somalia in 1991, hundreds of thousands of the people ended up in Kenya in search of protection and stability.

They went on to established a vibrant community and successful businesses, transforming the nearly deserted Eastleigh into the site of high-rise commercial and residential buildings and an economic hub that generates millions of dollars in tax revenue for the Kenyan government.

But Somali immigrants have long been subject to ethnic abuse by government forces, according to reporters from human rights groups.

The ongoing manhunt for Somalis in Nairobi has sparked a string of attacks in the city. The Kenyan government says al-Shabab, the Somali-based militant group, is behind these attacks.

Officials stand with community

Minneapolis City Council member Abdi Warsame, Somali-born with personal ties to Somalis in Kenya, was among the elected officials who attended Friday’s Capitol gathering.

Addressing the crowd in Somali, Warsame said: “Somalis everywhere are in prisons. We’re in prison in Hennepin County. We’re in prison in Nairobi. We’re in prison in Mogadishu.”

While other speakers and demonstrators aimed comments at lawmakers inside the state Capitol, Warsame told the crowd that no one will come to their rescue if Somalis don’t stand up for themselves.

“Since I was born, Somalis are at war with themselves,” said Warsame, whose mother lives in Mogadishu and daughter in Nairobi. “We always protest, even though the problems come from us. The Senate can’t do anything for you. No one will help you if you don’t help yourselves.”

Another speaker, state Rep. Karen Clark, said many state leaders don’t know about the issue, but promised she will help write a resolution demanding freedom for the Somali people in Kenya.

“I just learned about it today,” she said. “I’ll make sure that my colleagues know about this; it’s something I want to pledge I will work with you, also. I’m outraged by what is happening in Kenya.”…

“… No one will help you if you don’t help yourselves.”

… and yet somalia (majority of the somali populace) do not seem to be able to help themselves.

If thy ideology and/or culture lead to wars, anarchy and self destruction, it may be time to reexamine them. Perhaps jettison problematic portions and start afresh.

There are those who expects other to do the work for them. Then there are those who do the work themselves.

When Muslims gun down women and children in churches and their homes, rape and steal kids to sell on as sex slaves, that’s OK because they are doing Allah´s work as laid out in the Koran.
but when non- Muslims defend themselves by fighting back; why they are “terrorists” and ” brutal killers” attacking the poor, peace loving Muslims.
Worst of all, the morons in the European media and assorted political offices, fall for the poor, suffering Muslim victim card, every time.

Still better treated than non-muslims in muslim lands.

Sorry, by “muslim lands” i meant “jewish and christian lands occupied by foreign invaders who forced their religion upon the native populations.”

Good correction, Angemon, and one that I have always maintained.
There are NO MUSLIM LANDS, except the land around Mecca. In every other ” Muslim Land” they are military invaders that have FORCED their religion, language and culture on the people that they have attacked and reduced to the status of non-citizens.
Keep up the good work on JW.

Islam is a simplicity turned complex. In order to unwind these complexities, read Roberts books., articles and speeches. Most posters here have already unwound it, but there are many kuffar who remain tightly wound and bound by taqiyya and fine sounding phrases from slick snake oil salesman.

target Muslims indiscriminately,…In the west, that is a big no-no called ‘profiling’.
One of the main commandments issued by the great god ‘Political correctness’. is, ‘Thou shalt not profile’. If the self righteous catch you doing that, they will call you a racist bigot., and worse. It’s better to not worry about it, worry about it after you are attacked not before. That’s ‘Percival the Pure Fool-ism’, looking up while stepping off a cliff. Not a good path, but it is the one PC has set us on.

As Robert notes, not a peep out of them about the Mall massacre, but a load of whining and blubbering that the Kenyans are being nasty to them.

Mohammedans and their constant victim posturing make me puke.

Ayaan Hirsi ali, former Muslim who now devotes her life to women’s rights said it best, from experience. “Violence is inherent in Islam–its a destructive nihilistic cult of death, it legitimizes murder”http://wp.me/p2GpDB-cF

A lot of these Somalis have no business being given access to the USA. Some do, sure, but many should be shipped back. Enough is enough.
