Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Muslim Brotherhood to UK: Please don’t investigate us

Apr 3, 2014 5:25 pm By Robert Spencer

Students of Cairo University, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and ousted Egyptian President Mursi, shout slogans against the military and interior ministry in CairoYou’d almost think they had something to hide. But that couldn’t possibly be true, no, could it? After all, they were democratically elected in Egypt! Just ask Mohammed Elibiary of the Department of Homeland Security, or Hussam Ayloush of Hamas-linked CAIR.

“MB urges UK not to proceed with probe,” from Al Arabiya, April 3 (thanks to Lookmann):

The Muslim Brotherhood has urged Britain late Wednesday not to bow to foreign pressures after London’s recent announcement that it will launch a review into the operations of the Islamist movement.

“It is important that the British government does not bend to pressure from foreign governments who are concerned about their own people’s quest for democracy,”  the Brotherhood’s press office in London said in a statement, according to Reuters.

Writing in Al Arabiya News, director of The Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) Chris Doyle explained that the investigation is possibly meant to appease Britain’s “key Middle Eastern partners who have declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization,” referring to Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia, a commercial ally of Britain and staunch foe of the Muslim Brotherhood, designated the group a terrorist organization last month following a similar move by Egypt in December.

“In addition, the UAE is staunchly opposed to the group, as is Israel. Financially it might make sense for Britain to position itself in an expanding anti-Brotherhood alliance that includes such powerful actors and trade partners,” Doyle added.

The Muslim Brotherhood said that it would “openly engage” with the review ordered by Prime Minister David Cameron but it would challenge in the British courts “any improper attempt to restrict its activity.”

The movement, whose affiliated groups have deep roots in many Arab and Islamic states, said it was concerned that Britain’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, John Jenkins, would be leading the review.

“It is hard to see how Sir John Jenkins will be able to conduct an independent internal review of the Muslim Brotherhood and carry his brief as Ambassador to a non-democratic regime that is openly in political opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood,” the Muslim Brotherhood statement added.

Doyle said “many will speculate that [Jenkin’s] role will be to sell the findings in Riyadh as much as anything else. If he does not slam the movement, how will Jenkins manage relations with his furious hosts?”

When asked why Jenkins was leading the review, a spokeswoman for Cameron said on Tuesday it was because it would focus on the group across the region, not just Egypt, and Jenkins had deep knowledge of the Middle East.

After the 2011 uprisings that toppled autocratic rulers in Middle East and North Africa, the Muslim Brotherhood gained political power in some Arab nations.

In Egypt, the group was heavily suppressed with hundreds of its members recently given death sentences after the toppling of Islamist leader Mohammad Mursi in July by a popularly-backed coup.

Britain, where many Brotherhood-influenced organizations are based, said its review would include looking at allegations made by Arab leaders that the group was linked to violence, a charge the group has repeatedly denied.

Britain’s move follows increasing Arab repression of the Brotherhood especially in Egypt, where security forces have killed hundreds of Islamists and jailed thousands including almost all leaders of the movement since the army ousted Mursi.

The Brotherhood asked the review to consider what it said were “serious human rights abuses being conducted by the military regime in Egypt.”

“The British government should be cautious not to allow this review to be seen as an endorsement of the criminal acts which continue to be perpetrated against the people of Egypt,” the Brotherhood’s statement said.

The recent sentencing of 529 alleged Mursi supporters to death “barely merited a murmur of criticism from British politicians,” states Doyle.

The Egyptian government, which was given billions of dollars by Saudi Arabia to support its beleaguered economy, denies allegations of human rights violations.

      Heads up on Chris Doyle:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_for_Arab-British_Understanding

“The Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding (CAABU),* is a London-based advocacy group that works with government, parliament and media to further the United Kingdom’s POSITIVE engagement with the Arab world. Founded in 1967, Caabu is the oldest and largest cross-party organisation of its kind, with over 100 parliamentary members.”
“Middle East expert Chris Doyle has been director of Caabu since 2002.”
“Caabu produces reports both independently and in conjunction with other organisations.” [E.g.:]

“The world’s largest prison camp: A report on access to Gaza (Autumn 2010)”

Which is totally indicative of where their interests are.

*Weird, Wiki leaves out the word ‘Advancement’ at the beginning of their article, and keeps calling them, Caabu as above. Does that mean something significant in Arabic like ‘cair’ does?

Does anyone notice the ‘symmetry’ with cair, except that ‘Arab’ in Caabu has a narrower meaning than ‘islamic’. Do they show as much interest in Arabic Christians and Jews, and – gasp – atheists, as they do in mohammedan Arabs?

Are they joined at the hip with the MB, like cair is? Are they funded by the usual culprits, to function as a sockpuppet, or a PressTV-like mouthpiece?

Can anyone show any connection at all between Caabu and Pedophile Rape Gangs, or FGM, or hostile school takeovers, or cair-like lawfare, or death for apostasy, or George Galloway, or Andy Choudary, or IFTikhar Ahmed, or the Moslem Brotherhood, or the National Association of Moslem Police, or TellMaMa, or…you get the idea.

If they are squeaky-clean, condemn UNEQUIVOCALLY all that is evil (why are they still mohammedans?) then they are OK. If not, depending on how many sins they embody, then they are more-or-less cair-UK.

It would take a push-them-back tsunami of happenings to be even SLIGHTLY encouraged about our counter-jihad campaign.

But this posting by Mr. Spencer, plus others recently give me encouragement on a strong coming tide of awakening by Americans / Canadians / Brits.

CAIR’s only asset is the now-exhausted label “Islamophobia” — there is NOTHING else in their epithetic dictionary, and time has run out for even the densest Westerner to be affected by that word.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s strategic goal of “Destroying Western civilization from within” is apparently not enough to cause a problem to the UK government, nor, evidently, the MB leader’s announcement in Egypt of “targeted assassination” (for you at home, murder) of anyone opposing President Morsi’s unauthorised changes.
    Nothing to see. Move along.

To the extent that the MB is finished in Britain, it really has little to nothing to do with an understanding by British government elites that the MB is the true face of Islam. No, not at all. Rather, it is virtually entirely wrapped up with money concerns, specifically that certain Gulf states like SA now look upon the MB as a negative and that Britain has all kinds of financial ties to these Gulf states. Sadly, this is the reality. Ah, when in doubt, follow the money, no?

When the vast majority of politicians do what they do, it is first and foremost for short-term reasons, like financial and re-election matters. Rarely do you find a politician who rises to a higher level, who puts crucial ideals above the more mundane things such as finances and re-election. Such rare folks, who need to be practical and savvy enough to know how to stay in power since being right without power is not enough, deservedly are called statesmen.

Washington was such a person. Lincoln too. And, of course, Churchill. Thatcher and Reagan in our times could arguably be put in this category as well. Geert Wilders at present is the closest to such a sterling person that we have right now in the West. But see the problem? There are none or almost none like this out there right now.

And so the West drifts. Well, with Obamas, Camerons and Merkels leading the pack at present, and that turd in the punch bowl, Putin, how can the West not drift? Fluid and troubling times, no doubt.

“turd in the punch bowl” hehe! I’ll enjoy that for a while and get back to you later.
      Later..
Cameron etc are light years away from identifying the problem which is Islam. Still, any small improvement is welcome.(?) I’m for shutting down Islam totally. Immediately. There are others (possibly wiser) who say incremental steps is the way forward. Thus after banning MB (and we’re still not there yet), maybe close the Madrassas. Then monitor the mosques. Then another step. It could be done that way.
Either way a recognition of the problem is required. That of course is what we’re all waiting for.

Tariq Ramadan, grandson of MB founder, Egyptian Hassan al Banna, has been spreading his poison for years in UK from Oxford university. Qatar, which is the sponsor of the MB, owns great tracts of land and property in London, including the supremacist Shard.
This is what appeasement of Muslims by all British governments leads to: increased islamisation, threats and terror.

  8. jewdog says

The MB wants Sharia law everywhere, but since there’s no Vatican in Islam, there’s no commanding authority to universally define Sharia. This leads to differences of opinion which often translate into violence, as Islam endorses jihad warfare as a means to establish it. Thus, the Saudis will only tolerate their brand of Sharia, as does the UAE. Even relatively secular Egypt wants their Islam as per their military government. Resolving differences of Sharia has brought anarchy to Syria, Libya and Iraq.
As for Sharia itself, that’s a whole Pandora’s box which is best left unopened by its prospective future subjects lest they freak out. Why do you think Robert’s books are so feared by Muslims? He looks inside the box.
You can’t blame the MB’ers for wanting to keep people in the dark about their dubious product, but Western leaders should know better.

If the inquiry is into possible links of MB with terrorism, then not much will come from this. The MO of MB is stealth Jihad, not bombs. In short: As long as Islam is not recognised as a problem, MB will get a pass.

    • Geordie says

      Apr 4, 2014 at 2:59 pm

I’m not so sure. If the MB can be linked with radical preachers glorifying and calling for violence OR channelling funds to jihad in other countries. The outcome should be very interesting indeed. Considering the investigation encompasses the entire middle east region, Israel alone should provide enough evidence of guilt without asking our Saudi “friends.”

The international MB has many faces in different lands.

  10. gerard says

    Apr 3, 2014 at 10:12 pm

If the inquiry is into links of MB with violent Jihad then it may well be that not much will come from this investigation since MB’s preferred MO is stealth Jihad and infiltration, not bombs. MB could get a pass. In any event Islam still gets a pass so the real problem will remain.

It all started on June, 30 ARSH 2014. The proud people of Egypt took to the streets by the millions and said NO to the Muslim Brotherhood rule. Then, the Domino Effect…Saudi Arabia, U.A.E. , Bahrein, and now the U.K.
I’ve read on Youm7 (Egyptian news) about a similar bill presented to the Parliament of Canada, does anyone have info about it?

Every single British jihadwatcher here posting or lurking should be writing post haste – on paper, not by email – to their PM, and to all other relevant persons, and to their particular MP as well, *demanding* that these threats be defied; that the Muslim Brotherhood be investigated *thoroughly* and remorselessly, and demanding, furthermore, that the Muslim Brotherhood should be *banned* in the UK. And throw in a request for the expulsion of Brother Tariq, into the bargain.

Swamp David Cameron in an avalanche of letters from angry and worried British non-Muslim citizens.

If he won’t listen, sit down on the doorstep of no 10 Downing Street, in relays, and refuse to budge.

  13. dumbledoresarmy says

And here’s an idea: why don’t those of us who live in Commonwealth countries, most notably Australia, Canada and New Zealand, write to *our* governments and demand that the Muslim Brotherhood be investigated – and banned – in *our* countries.

Me, I’d also like to see a ban come down on Fethullah Gulen, Tablighi Jamaat, and Hizb ut Tahrir.
