No doubt Robert McManus, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, who has said that “talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims,” is on a plane to Abuja right now, so as to implore Cardinal Onaiyekan to be quiet, and stop talking this way — he might end up harming the “inter-religious dialogue,” and then where would McManus get his tabouleh?
“Nigerian cardinal criticizes role of sharia, says Muslim leaders must ‘rein in their mad dogs,’” from Catholic World News, April 2 (thanks to Twostellas):
Nigeria’s leading prelate has briefed the German Bishops’ Conference on religion and violence in Nigeria, particularly the violence committed by members of the Islamist terrorist movement Boko Haram.
“Beyond verbal tirades by some pastors, so far I am not aware of any violent groups claiming Christian inspiration,” said Cardinal John Onaiyekan of Abuja, according to a report by the Catholic News Service of Nigeria.
“This seems to me to put a significant responsibility on our Islamic community to do more about ‘reining in their mad dogs,’” he added. “It is not immediately clear how much they are doing in this regard.”
Cardinal Onaiyekan also said that role played by sharia, which is part of the legal system in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states, runs counter to the principle of “one nation, one law.”
“The role and place of the sharia in its many forms have been a matter of much debate and strong controversy in Nigeria,” he stated. “This is a major part of the problem of national integration.”

” Muslim leaders must rein in their mad dogs”.
Its Muslim leaders that have pointed and released these mad dogs on Christians and the folk of other religions worldwide, and the insane rantings of Mohammed, in the Koran that has produced these mad dogs.

What a statement! Cardinal Onaiyekan is not delusional…he is accurate. Too bad the church has so many jihad-deniers like Bishop McManus…whistling past the graveyard.
Pope Francis needs to listen to sensible churchmen like Onaiyekan.

Psychological rabies. Inoculation is the only form of prevention. Once symptoms reaches the martyrdom stage, it is almost always fatal to the individual’s mental faculty, especially the capacity to reason logically and the perception of reality.

At least some one in the catholic church speaking up. Hopefully this will become a trend. Or may they even would try to silence him. Who know.
The nation of 175 million, Africa’s most populous, is 50% Muslim, 25% Protestant, and 15% Catholic….. And that is the problem 50% muslim. As soon as muslims are in the majority the take over will begin. M

Of course, nobody will classify the Catholics and Protestants together, because then Nigeria would come out as “40 percent Christian”. And then there’s that other ten percent, probably mostly following traditional non-Islamic African beliefs.
Which means that a truer description of Nigeria – and the one that makes sense from our point of view – would be that it is half Muslim and half *non-Muslim*. The Muslims have achieved parity, but not majority.
The other thing that the stats don’t tell us is that these percentages vary broadly from south to north.
In the south (which is where the oil is, by the way, and the fresh water and the fertile forests) the Infidels – mostly Christian, but with some following African traditional beliefs – are the overwhelming majority. In the so-called ‘middle belt’ it’s around fifty fifty. Only in the northern third or so do the Muslims have a majority (but with the non-Muslims comprising a significant minority).

The cardinal is very wise. There must be one law for all.

I am sure if the Bishop gets to see the real quality of life that islam has imposed upon its followers & all others in Nigeria then he may return singing the Cardinals praises.
With the actions of so many islamic cult groups using terror to establish so called pure islam the majority of muslims must be questioning their faith.
If you live in a strict islamic country or state then you cannot just leave islam without severe punishment or death.
The Pope I believe must promote peace to all mankind or he lowers himself to the jihadis level.
Use the drones to keep cutting off the heads of the snakes till there are no snakes left. ….where ever they are.
Most who follow islam are not jihadis only those bitten by the snake.
The west has protected & even provided food & shelter for the snake & now it must act before the snake can infect so many that good cannot triumph over evil.
