Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Thailand: Islamic jihadists murder three in drive-by shooting, including two-year-old girl

Apr 21, 2014 5:12 pm By Robert Spencer

THAILANDIA_-_sud_ribelli“More than 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces since an Islamic insurgency flared in 2004” — but how much do you hear about it in the mainstream media? Hardly at all. And that’s understandable, since in Thailand the victims are Buddhists. If the victims were Muslims, then there would be an international outcry, UN resolutions, and calls from Barack Obama and his minions to stop the sectarian violence. But Islamic jihadists murdering non-Muslims? Pah! Who cares? What are you, some kind of Islamophobe?

“Thai police say suspected insurgents kill 3 in shooting in south, including 2-year-old girl,” from the Associated Press, April 20:

HAT YAI, Thailand – Police in southern Thailand say suspected insurgents shot dead three people, including a 2-year-old girl, in a drive-by shooting.

Police Col. Chartchai Chanasit says two gunmen riding on a motorcycle carried out the attack on Sunday in the Bannang Sata district of Yala province.

Chartchai says another boy was injured in the attack.

Last week, an insurgent was killed in a shooting in the same district that also left his 6-year-old son dead.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces since an Islamic insurgency flared in 2004.

Thais don’t really have a handle on what is happening in their own country. I speak with them every day, and many times the Moslem situation comes up. They call it “the terrorist problem in the south”, never “the Moslem problem”. I always have to be careful in such discussions (not my country and all that), while still trying to get my points across. In so many ways Thais are simply stubborn, refusing to accept what someone else has to say, especially from a foreigner. They are not trained in school to think about how to evaluate an idea, compare & contrast it with other ideas, and determine which logically seems to be better. Also, Thais are politically naive… their Red-Shirt-Yellow-Shirt politics involves two sides that self-admittedly hardly differ in social policy, but only in personality preferences. Finally, Thai Buddhists fall back on useless wishful thinking that Thai Moslems have declared allegiance to the King of Thailand, thus all Thais are fundamentally the same. But there is still a chance for Thailand, if the Thai Buddhists could get serious. They had no qualms about refusing to accept Moslem refugees from Myanmar, including not bowing under to ‘international condemnation’ (which of course is just Western NWO leftism). If Thais could get their act together, Thailand is one of the few countries in the world that could decree that all Moslems must be relocated to one area in the south, and contain them there by applying a carrot-and-stick policy of both economic handouts and massive military force. If they could do this, Thais might actually be able to solve the problem. If they refuse to understand this, I’m afraid that once the current King dies, the “southern terrorist problem” is going to get far worse, and the truth about their current handling of the situation will then be revealed to be essentially useless.

I guess that you can only hope that Thais who can read English may find their way to this blog, and to the “New English Review” (where we often cross-post and discuss episodes of Muslim mayhem that take place in southern Thailand), and may lurk, and learn.

And here’s a story you might like to share with people. It’s the story of a naive Jew…and of a Buddhist who was anything but naive.

Some years ago a regular poster here was one “Mark Goldberg”, of Jewish ancestry, but with a deep interest in Buddhism. He shared with us an arresting story of a Tibetan Buddist monk he once knew, who had no illusions whatsoever about Islam.

Here is how he told the story, in this thread from 2006, eight years ago.

      http://www.jihadwatch.org/2006/04/dhimmi-lama.html

“It is so disconcerting to hear him [the dalai lama] speak thus.

“The irony is, I was first made aware of the depth of Islam by a Buddhist monk. A lama, and a gifted, rather poignant and impressive person in my life.

“Many years ago, I was having a conversation with him. The mid 70’s, still young and way to[o] liberal about things in general.

      “
He asked me once, about the problems of Israel and the moslems.

“I had some inkling already, having met a few Turks and others, that gave a disturbing feeling to that faith. I was a bit lost in sufi poetry and all that.
I went into what I felt was a benign enlightened peaceful interpretation of how we jews had suffered so badly at the hands of muslims and christians and had survived to show how even the meek could accomplish so much, and now, we were ready as always to share what we had for peace, and work together.

“I felt very zen with my little speech to him.

“And proud of myself. What a peaceful guy I was.

‘What do you think of the problems between the moslems and the jews,” I asked… I’d never heard this guy ever make a negative comment about other religions, although he was quite the shapeshifter in dealing with all manner of subjects.

      “He smiled at me.

“After my little speech, he gave me a slightly forgiving smile. The kind the nurse gives you when she walks out of the Intensive care room of your loved one, and whispers…
”The doctors are working very hard”

“He said softly, but succinctly- ” Islam is a devil’s religion”.

“If he’d have punched me in the nose, it would’ve had less effect than that comment. It was unheard of for me, or my family or jews to comment like that. Well- all the liberal ones anyway.

‘I just thought to myself after hearing his comment- ‘well, screw that, that’s weird’

‘You see, I could’nt allow myself to even hear such ideas. Always you be the goody two shoes in my then ideation.

‘But I knew him. He was a man, a gifted, very talented man, and one whose opinion was never frivolous. Never voiced things unless they had some place, or so it seemed in one’s work.

‘So – since it wasn’t [just] any cult. I just thought –
Screw him, that’s the end of this conversation.

‘Yet his comments haunted me, for years. He was a very good man. A wise man, a man of insight – and I learned not to dismiss whatever he said simply because it sounded incorrect.

‘I remember all the events of the 80’s, the events of the early nineites, and Oslo, and the homicide of Rabbi Kahane, and the
Left’s embrace of homicidism as revolution.

‘And I once guarded the DL’s door on a visit to america. Nice man.

‘But he, I do not forgive him for his appeasement, here, now, nor last month in Israel- and his ordinariness. He knows better.

‘The Tibetans then, all knew the muslims for the conquering oppressors of the entire east, and they were truly sympathetic to the Jewish peoples struggle to survive under the muslim hammer.

‘Now, with the mass homicidism, worldwide, he plays UN patsy, a darling and it gets him invited to the vast appeasement table- at the expense of others.” END.

And again, in 2008, as the dalai lama continued to play the dhimmi, either unable or unwilling to call Islam out for what it is, Mark told his story:

      http://www.jihadwatch.org/2008/07/dalai-lama-continues-portraying-islam-as-religion-of-peace.html

      mgoldberg | July 14, 2008 8:59 AM
BETHLEHEM, Pa.: The Dalai Lama said Sunday that “it’s totally wrong, unfair” to call Islam a violent religion.
The Tibetan spiritual leader, appearing at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, offered a defense of Islam in response to a question about the rise of violent religious fundamentalism. He added that he has made a point of reaching out to Muslims since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
————

“When I was a young man, I lived in the buddhist monastic community that first brought the Dalai Lama to the US.

“But the abbot of the monastery, who of course was delighted to have him over in the US, had an entirely different view of Islam than what the Dalai Lama expresses these days. In fact, I’m going to tell a story and perhaps it will translate or perhaps not.

“He was an imposing old man, he was brilliant, prescient, and he was a man who I found very much making me consider my jewish religion which later became my faith because of his imposing character
as a man, citizen, adviser, and helper of humans in the best senses of those words.

“Anyway, one day, we’re alone in his small living room and he asks me ‘What you think of arab jewish problem..? He asks in a conversational mood.

“Me, I’m young and frankly he was an overwhelming sort of old guy and here I was, and now my young ego was just jumping at my zen question, which I perceived as his intent.

“So, in the best, universalist, world peace, hyperliberal bit, that I no longer believed in, but still mouthed for whatever reasons, I became to explain that the Jews had been holocauted, tortured, expelled, humiliated, abused and survived and could show that only by overcoming our limitations and sharing our loses and hopes, only then could we show them how to live in true peace and accept each other.

      ”
It sounded living, universalist, peaceful, manly, and I think deep down, I thought’what a beautiful peaceful quiescent man I’ve just shown to my teacher’

“And I asked him…sir, what do *you* think of the arab jewish problems?

“He smiled a little smile to me… and I knew instinctively, from my being around him, what it meant. I didn’t want to believe it, but my body knew something of what was coming, before my brain figured it out.

“His smile was the smile that one gets when they go into the room of the intensive care unit at the hospital, and the nurse is coming out and you compulsively ask, ‘how’s he doing’ hoping by asking you’ll get positive news.

“And the nurse smiles that terribly forgiving smile,
and says… ‘the doctors are doing everything they can’

“So this fine old man, this old lama, who I have, to this day, long after his death, so much regard and respect for, he smiles that little smile, at me…that same type of smile the nurse gives you in the intensive care unit
after my world peace speech, that in my heart- in my heart, I knew was bs – but I thought back then that that’s what I was supposed to think.

“He smiles and he looks at me…this wonderful old man, this brilliant old monk, who would never express such sentiments about religions and such, and who was now going to tell me what he thought.

“And this is what he said. Quietly, he looked into my eyes, and said…’Islam, is a devil’s religion’

“My mind stopped like a train, on the tracks. It couldn’t go, it couldn’t turn back, and I recall that look in his eyes that would haunt me just like these words of his would for 15 yrs.

“I thought silently…’screw him’ as my mind couldn’t, wouldn’t allow me to entertain such thoughts. As I smiled falsely back at him.
      ‘
“I am haunted by his words 30 yrs later, because he was a gifted man, in many ways and I knew back then that I’d never heard him utter ideas that didn’t have some large amount of worth, however they were expressed but then… then, I was incapable of hearing them. So I ignored them, and my zen moment was very confusing.

“But prescient they were and I never forgot his quiet warning.

“Over the years I began to read about Islam and meet people from that world and I got disturbing signs. Disturbing inclinings [sic: inklings?] of what he had intimated about the religion, that my hyperliberal trained university mind had disallowed.

“Until the events of the 80’s and the bombings and terrorism of Islam became so apparent, and then, the murder of Rabbi Kahane, the first world trade center bombing and on and on and on.

“Then I read the Oslo peace accords and read what the PLO wrote and I thought, ‘this is madness’. ‘They will use this to deceive and cause more and more war…’ and so on,

      “and since then, it’s been
thanks to that lama, that old fine man, who’s [whose] words I followed up, during the next month, way back then, by studying what happened to the buddhists in india in the 11th century, and the total destruction at Nalanda, and the end of Indian buddhism under the tyranny and onslaught of Islam.

“And I remember the terrible and uncomfortable feelings I felt, challenging my ‘world peace paradigm’ that I thought was the true zen position in my young mind… a false view that took me years to overcome.

“And now… I listen to the DL, who I was never particularly impressed with – his tutors were more impressive to me, when I briefly met two of them.

“But his world peace bit, was flat, and seemingly without meaning given the history and beliefs of Islam. And his bit with telling the Israelis to negotiate with hamas, after Gush Katif was surrendered seem beyond inane and as sanctimonious as any of the hyperliberals who flocked to his side.

“And I am haunted by that brilliant old lama’s words, the lama who’s [whose] monastery the DL was first at when he came to america, ‘Islam…is a devil’s religion’.

‘I know, there are lots of nice muslim people who are just like me and you but they have no power to prevent or change any of the homicidism, the tyranny nor the world’s submission that the history of Islam shows as the foundation of its belief system from itz ‘prophet’ and its source.”

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing! I’m a Christian and fairly conservative politically but I hesitate to say this myself. It appears that Islam is definitely not from God and so must be from the other one. In the end it will be defeated. Many Muslims are coming to Christ now from what I hear!!

LMAO, Devil does not exist in Buddhist teaching.

I was never interested, but I study Buddhist teaching myself, there is no evil figure in Buddhist, the “King of Hades” in Buddhism is only an executioner, who gives out punishments to the crimnals, not a commander of evil like Satan in Abrahamic religions.

Those other devil like figures in Buddhism are not viewed the same way as Abrahamic devils. Some of those devils are even worshipped by Tibetan Buddhists. They punish the evil, they are not evil themselves.

Anyway, Tibetan do not have problem with their own Tibetan Muslims. People should not be taken in by these rumors Voldemort’s army likes to spread.

Islam was legal in Tibet under the Dalai Lamas, while Christianity was banned, because Tibetan Muslim don’t proselytize.

        http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/04/china-buddhist-monks-training-to-defend-against-jihad-terror-attacks/comment-page-1#comment-1033832

Tibetan Muslims (Kachee) were allowed to live in Tibet for hundreds of years because thy didn’t proselytize and appropiate lands, and have no problems with Tibetan Buddhists. The only problem is ethnic, some Tibetan rioters attacked both Han and Hui owned property because of economic resentment,

To clarify, the Tibetan Buddhist theocracy which governed Tibet (under the Dalai Lamas) allowed Tibetan Muslims to live in Tibet and practice their religion while they explicitly banned Catholicism.

The same policies were followed by several Emperors of China, since Christian missionaries often came as agents of foreign countries, Christianity got banned, while the non-proselytizing Muslim populations in China were all allowed to practice the religion.

Some Christian missionaries wondered why Islam was allowed in China, while China didn’t want Christian missionaries, its because of the associated behavior of the missionaries (expropiating native land without paying, extraterritorial rights being granted to Christian converts and foreigners), that the reaction was hostile. One of the reasons for the Boxer rebellion was that criminals who converted to Christianity were automatically granted protection from Chinese law because French imperialists decided to force this on China. French priests were also given extraterritorial immunity.

France had imperialist interests in Tibetan areas in Yunnan, Sichuan because French Indo-China was nearby, and they forced China to open up Tibetan areas to missionaries and to expropiate native land for them. Also there was the British invasion of Tibet in 1904 which set off massive hostility to foreigners among Tibetans.

There are also many Tibetan Balti Muslims in Baltistan region of Pakistan, and in Kargil and Ladakh where they live with Tibetan Ladakhi Buddhists.

      Hey George, don’t spread misinformation.

There are many Muslims in Thailand who are not Malay, like Hui and Thai speaking Muslims descended from Persian and foreign merchants. There are also descendants of Cham Muslims who were driven out of their land by Vietnamese hundreds of years ago.

The fighters in Pattani are various Malay insurgents. They are funded by criminal activities and the Thai military is probably benefiting from the crime via embezzlement, bribes, or extortion, in many third world countries, the military is so corrupt, they deliberately allow the insurgency to go on so they can steal military funds earmarked for “fighting”.

This is what happened in Philippines, where the Filipino army officers are so corrupt they deliberately do not crack down on the NPA Communist insurgents, since the officers benefit from the ongoing insurgency by stealing military funds meant fir equipment.

If you don’t yet understand that Islam is pan-ethnic, and that ALL Thai Moslems are in agreement that Thailand should ultimately be governed by Sharia, then I can’t help you. Just because the Malays may possibly be the tip of the spear right now (and there are no figures to prove that one way or another), doesn’t mean that the rest of the Moslem population in Thailand doesn’t support them in typical passive taqiyya style. Also, there have been many terrorist incidents outside of the south, including bombings in Bangkok. As I stated before, once the King dies, the political atmosphere will be chaotic, and will become a perfect environment for strategic terrorist actions over the entire country, not just the south.

It is well known that the Thai police and military are corrupt to varying degrees. However, I don’t think it is so massive or pervasive as to totally blind its members to the fact that they are getting killed on a weekly basis, and they’d better start doing something effective. I note that when Thaksin was directly in power, his policies deliberately cracked down on corruption (which is one reason why the affected parties were at the forefront of getting him ousted). As a result, during his tenure the military was much more ruthless and effective in dealing with Moslem terrorists.

As for solutions, if someone has a better one other than simply expel all Moslems out of the country, then I would be anxious to hear it.

A Moslem is a Moslem is a Moslem… please read all of JihadWatch and get it straight in your mind.

The bombings in Bangkok were related to the red shirt anti government protests and not the Malay insurgency or any Muslims.

          http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jan/19/thailand-bombings-political-violence-bangkok

Officers may not care about enlisted men getting killed as long as they are safe to practice corruption.

Also the Malays are native to Pattani. Thailand has it because it forced the Malay Sultanates into vassalage several hundred years ago when it was a regional power.

I said that Mazo is an apologist for evil, and I stick by that.

Everything he writes is intended to minimize the role of Islam in all this hideous violence in Asia, to use Tu Quoque to imply that non-Muslims are just as bad as those waging violent Jihad, to imply that the victims are somehow complicit in the violence used by Muslims against them, and to use copious verbiage on unrelated topics as “sand throwing” (as DDA memorably characterizes it) to distract from the issue of Jihad.

All of this is apologia for Islam; it has no other purpose.

Relocate, quarantine and contain will not work with Islam because Muslims have among the highest birthrates in the world. Muslims make no attempt to hide the fact that procreation is a weapon used for millenia to expand at the expense of the non-Islamic world. At some point you will be facing a humanitarian disaster or an armed insurrection; possibly both. Islam is a rapidly expanding scourge that feeds upon the ‘human rights revolution’ and ‘multiculturalism’ among civilized nations who do not realize that, in the scope of human history, these are passing political fads. All that can be done is to manage the destructive reach of Islam as intelligently as possible until human history reverts to centuries old patterns and Western policy is not based upon fantasy.
