This story from ABC.net.au says that the arrested people had so much methylamphetamine on them that clearly they were major dealers. It identifies them by name as Ziad and Rabih Jneid, but doesn’t identify them further. However, an earlier version of the story that now resolves to the link below had a very different headline: “WA Islamic Council president Rateb Jneid among those charged over drugs, guns seizure.” Now all mention of Rabih Jneid’s connection to the Western Australian Islamic Council has been removed from the story.
And quite rightly, you may say, for the connection is only incidental; even though we have seen the jihadists of the Taliban and al Qaeda fund their jihads by means of drug trafficking, the WA Islamic Council is moderate, and anyway police haven’t given a hint of any possibility that Rabih Jneid was funding jihad activities by dealing drugs,
Maybe so, but if Rabih Jneid were the Roman Catholic Bishop of Perth, or a leading rabbi in Western Australia, would the Australian Broadcasting Corporation not find the discovery that he was a major drug trafficker newsworthy in connection with his position? Would it show a similar concern for the reputation of the institution involved, so as to scrub all mention of it from its coverage of the drug bust?
I doubt it.
“Drug syndicate smashed after Perth seizure, police say,” by Graeme Powell, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, May 29, 2014:

Map: Perth 6000Police in Perth believe they have smashed an organised crime syndicate following the seizure of four kilograms of methylamphetamine.
They said the seizure of two kilograms of drugs during a routine traffic stop in January led to a four-month operation which culminated in raids on six properties in Perth in April.
Police seized methylamphetamine with a street value of $8 million, firearms and $380,000 in cash.
Two of those charged are Ziad and Rabih Jneid.
Police said some of those arrested during the raids were part of a sophisticated drug ring.
“They’re at the top of the hierarchy as heads of a syndicate, so these are significant players,” Detective Inspector Chris Adams said.
“When you are caught in possession of up to four kilos you are a significant importer of methylamphetamine.”…

islam … an endangered species. Endangered by truth and facts, so truth and facts must be banned.
John Haller says
The ABC news can now be relied upon to whitewash anything that alludes to Muslims or Islam in an unfavourable light. Al three of these gentlemen were from the same family and two were allegedly carrying large quantities of Methamphetamine and the other, a confirmed head of the Islamic Council of WA, was charged with unsafe storage of firearms. You don’t get much bigger fish than these all caught in the same net and it just points to the endemic attitudes of Muslims that pervades their culture of hate, oppression and contempt for their supposedly fellow non Muslim Australians.
Michael McGee says
I makes me sick, I have noticed happening here in a Australia for some time, this whitewashing of anything to do with Islamic activity. It is wrong and dangerous if you can not question authorities. The SBS and the SunShine Station are also guilty of this.

The ABC’s Corrections & Clarifications page at http://www.abc.net.au/news/corrections/ provides the following explanation of why the reference to Jateb Jneid was removed – it was because he is not the same person as those charged with drug offences:
“Dr Rateb Jneid

News Online: The ABC has and continues to report on a situation in Western Australia which has involved charges being laid following an alleged drugs seizure. The ABC wishes to clarify that Western Australia Islamic Council President Dr Rateb Jneid has not been charged with drug offences of any kind.”
What they haven’t said there, is that he is a brother of the two men charged with drug offences and that he has been charged with a firearms offence (for incorrectly storing a firearm) as a result of police raids on properties as part of their investigation.

From the article – “.. the seizure of two kilograms of drugs during a routine traffic stop in January led to a four-month operation which culminated in raids on six properties in Perth in April…”.
Nota bene – “during a routine traffic stop”.
A little more about how that happened, here (text of story as copied and saved by me when initially spotted):
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-29/drug-syndicate-smashed-after-perth-seizure-police-say/5485904
“…some drugs were initially found when police stopped a car in Kewdale in January.
“Officers located and seized approximately two kilograms of methylamphetamine after searching a vehicle they had stopped,” he said.
**”The driver initially failed to stop and attempted to evade them.”** {my emphasis – dda}.
Why did the cops initially decide to stop that particular car? It looked unroadworthy? Something funny about the number-plate? Speeding or otherwise driving dangerously? Routine random breath-testing (as Aussie cops do, from time to time)?
Anyway, they certainly hit the jackpot. Kudos to the cops for trusting their spidey-senses and making the decision to search the car.
Longtime regulars here will perhaps remember a story about a pair of Mohammedans who were pulled over by highway cops, for speeding, and were discovered – when one or both of the cops got a bad feeling about them, and decided to search the vehicle – to have an improvised *bomb* on board.

ABC is notorious for under reporting anything to do with Islam or Muslims; I regularly comment on their news articles, however, if i mention Islam or Muslim it is never posted…has been going on for years…
Secondly, this event was hardly reported on if at all on the Eastern seaboard, where most Australians live? I wonder why; not hard to guess; we can’t go upsetting the Muslims can we???
Australians as far as the news goes are Muzzled…no pun intended.

Well, I don’t live in Western Australia and I know *I* came across it in my routine morning trawl of the “Just In” section of the ABC news homepage, and duly made a copy for my files, making a note of the tell-tale Islamic names of two of the perps.
So it wasn’t entirely swept under the carpet.

Vertical integration between academia , educationalists , Labour and the ABC ; its been going on for 50 years . All to what end ? To advance the progressive victory in culture and education and promote whatever is the current cultural suicide ; be it same sex marriage , abortion and euthanasia or the canard of Muslim integration .
Any serious Conservative government must act now to strip out half a billion in funding to the ABC . Put the money to good effect and maintain a car manufacturing industry in Australia. Real jobs instead of taxpayer funded agitprop.
Mick Ronson of Australia says
The ABC is funded entirely by Australian taxpayers’ money to the tune of over $1.1 billion a year in a country with a population of less than 30 million. The ABC has recently had its budget cut slightly and the lefties are up arms. The managing director (salary $0.8 million pa) has been going around saying they’ll have to cut children’s programming. Priorities. The ABC has no conservative hosts on any of its shows and stacks discussion forums two, three or four to one left against right. Further, the ABC is frequently referred to as ‘the GayBC’ for its liberal support of matters gay and lesbian including a Play School episode in which a child is seen with two women and narrates: “My Mums are taking me and my friend Merryn to an amusement park.” There were complaints and the network claimed they were reflecting ‘diversity’ but, only as criticism grew, changed their response to a claim the segment showed a child with her ‘birth mother and stepmother’ and suggested it should be obvious to any viewer what they meant. How they reconcile support of the homosexual community with support of Islam is anyone’s guess. I tend to believe the left will ultimately throw the gays under the bus.
