He said it. Will Muslim spokesmen in the West denounce Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as an Islamophobe? Will they say that he is motivated by hatred and bigotry, and a racist desire to defame Islam and Muslims? Will they denounce him as ignorant of Islam? No? They won’t do any of those things? But they do them when a non-Muslim in the West says something similar. Why the difference?
“Najib: ‘Human rights-ism’ goes against Muslim values,” by Ong Han Sean, The Star, May 13, 2014 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
KUANTAN: Islam is now being tested aggressively by an ideology which can be termed as “human rights-ism”, warned Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister said the ideology was like a new “religion” growing rapidly inside and outside the country.
“This type of understanding is based on humanism and secularism as well as liberalism.
“It is retrograde as it glorifies human wants and desires,” Najib said at the opening of the National Quran Recital Competition here Tuesday night.
He said “human rights-ism” rejected the values of religion and etiquette, but was instead wrapped in an image of struggling for basic rights.
Najib said Islam already protected the rights of all, regardless of race, language or religion.
“However, in this age of globalisation, there are attempts to spread retrograde values such as pluralism and liberalism by linking it to Islam. It is very dangerous to our faith.
“Of course, we will not tolerate any demands for apostasy to be allowed, or for Muslims’ rights to implement Islamic teachings through the Syariah Court to be denied.
“What more for deviant movements like the LGBT to be recognised and permitted,” said Najib.
medina says
Events like the malaysian air liner disappearance and now the kidnapped African schoolgirls captivate the world for a few weeks, until the next man-caused disaster happens. All made possible due to Muslims. Do people the world over realize that the cause of most miserable events we face is due to adherents of the Muslim cult and their western enablers ?
Guest says
One little trap in conversations with muslims and their defenders is using the word ‘rights’ without an adjective such as ‘equal rights’ or ‘human rights’. One can’t deny that everyone has ‘rights’ under islam, including ‘women’s rights’ – even dhimmis have a few rights.
G179 says
He forgot to mention “logic-ism”. Logic is another devious invention of the west that goes against Islamic values and teachings.
umbra says
islam is in agreement and collusion with the human “left”, but against the human “right”.
Al Kaffir says
Umbra, Only those on the far ‘looney left’ are colluding with Islam. Many members of Labor or Liberal Parties are not Marxists but small “L” liberals, who are interested simply in obtaining decent living conditions. Many of them are also atheists, but having distanced themselves from Christianity, they have been asleep at the wheel, and allowed the more pernicious religion of Islam to slip in beneath their radars.
Kepha says
I’m all for the old-fashioned negative rights, in the sense of limits which governments may not violate. It’s been with us ever since Moses instructed the Israelite king to have the Torah at his side (Dt. 17).
But I also have a huge quarrel with the post-modern push for imposing moral relativism on all of society through newly discovered “rights” such as a “right” to marriage (Suzy, you gotta marry me, even if I’m already married to Debbie), a “right” not to be offended, a “right” to a chunk of what my neighbor has made or earned, etc.
And I can’t help but notice that all these people clamoring for new “rights” always go after people like the Christian baker who didn’t want to do a cake for a homosexual “wedding” rather than demanding that a halal caterer barbecue a whole hog for an event.
Wellington says
Again I’m with you, Kepha.
big mess says
Human rights-ism does go against muslim values. Whenever and however muslims abuse other muslims or non-muslims, muslims remain committed muslims. However, when kidnapped, converted through rape, beaten, amputated and stoned to death, some muslims may revert to normal.
Jaladhi says
Of course Human rightism goes against the “values” of Islam.
Islam/Muslims values are in killing, raping, invading, stealing, lying, etc.. –these are the core values of Islam/Muslims. How can they tolerate “human rights” which don’t at exist in their cult.
This guy is telling the truth about Islam/Muslims. What some body teach him taqiyya!!1
Fitzatheist says
There’s a simple way to deal with cultural relativists. Totally lacking in any critical or logical faculties as they are, on the one hand they claim that all cultures are equally valid and deserving of respect and on the other they denounce people like Robert for equating ‘extremism’ and ‘Islam’. Of course it is the extreme Muslims themselves who self-identify with Islam so all one has to say to the cultural relativist, and by using their own reasoning, is what right have they got to state that what the extremist calls Islamic behaviour is not true Islamic true behaviour when ‘truth’ is relative to the culture? If that is what the extremist calls Islam then Islam it is.
bill says
Convoluted ‘reasoning’. Muslims do not hesitate to invoke human rights in support of their wish to practise their religion in any way they wish without let of hindrance, but they do not approve of human rights or practise human rights in their own societies
bill says
Najib said Islam already protected the rights of all, regardless of race, language or religion.
I think he really believes that!
umbra says
… well, najib is a known liar.
dumbledoresarmy says
It depends what you mean by “protect” and what you mean by “rights”.
I’d say he’s using the very special Islamspeak meaning of those words.
The dhimmis are “protected”, for example. They are “protected” pretty much the same way as a Sicilian peasant or small shopkeeper was “protected” by the local mafia don…
Reality Check says
In other words, there is no room for human rights in Islam as human rights are totally incompatible with Islamic values.
Thank you, Mr Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, you have done an invaluable favour to all the critics of Islam. đ

Of course it does. There are no human rights in Islam. Damn barbarians.

Unless, of course, those human desires run to pedophilia, abusing Infidels, and raping womenâin which case these horrors find “divine” validation in the Qur’an…

He said âhuman rights-ismâ rejected the values of religion and etiquette…

“Etiquette”! Of courseâwhat is more indicative of good “etiquette’ than kidnapping and raping Infidel schoolgirls, burning churches, and shooting up shopping malls? Good God…

Well, yesâkeeping in mind, of course, that the “rights” of women and Infidels include the right to be oppressed and “Honor Killed”…

How many here are familiar with the grimly laughable “Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam”?
This is basically a carefully-worded *inversion* of human rights and assertion of Muslim supremacismâand yet some Westerners are too dim-witted to recognize it for what it is.
Al Kaffir says
GI, Spot on! The Cairo Declaration (CDHRI) is the complete antithesis of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Deceptively, the CDHRI is written in typical UN style rhetoric and appears to uphold all the values in the UDHR, but everything is subject to the Sharia (Articles 23, 24, 25). And that means that whatever rights are granted under the CDHRI, are exclusively for Muslim men. Muslim women are still regarded as second class citizens, along with all non-Muslims. All 56 States in the OIC subscribe to the CDHRI.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairo_Declaration_on_Human_Rights_in_Islam.
The CDHRI claims in Article 10: “Islam is the religion of ‘unspoiled nature’. It is prohibited to exercise any form of compulsion on man or to exploit his poverty or ignorance in order to convert him to another religion or to atheism.” – What a perverted , supremacist imagination!
I wonder whether the Malaysians included some of the ‘peaceful’ suras, in their Quran Recital Competition (Quran 2:216, 3:157, 3:158, 4:74, 4:95, 8:39,)? Or the infamous ‘suras of the sword’ (Quran 9:5, 9:29)? http://www.quran.com.
Guy says
I might be misunderstanding this article, but it seems to me the PM is not attacking Islam and Sharia – he is attacking us – those values of the West that as he sees it work to undermine Sharia. – “Of course, we will not tolerate any demands for apostasy to be allowed, or for Muslimsâ rights to implement Islamic teachings through the Syariah Court to be denied.”

“Every course on Islam and Human Rights should begin with a close reading of Reza Afshariâs book on the matter. There is not a single important item in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that is not contradicted by Islam âbeginning with the right of the free exercise of religion, and the right of individual conscience (to change oneâs religion for another, or for unbelief)….”.
And then, from 2006, commentary on a piece of grovelling dhimmitude.

âInstead of exporting democracy to Muslim countries, democratic attempts harmonious with their own traditions and cultures must be supported.ââ¨â from the article above
“Islam flatly contradicts every single principle of individual rights enshrinted in the American Constitution and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
“That is why Muslims came up with their own, very different, version of that Universal Declaration â the âCairo Declaration of Human Rights.â
“Put the documents side by side. The âuniversalâ one, and then the âIslamicâ one.
“You can track precisely the changes made from one to the other. And then you can study, in the texts of Islam, the reasons for those changes.
“Every single course given on Islam, or on comparative law, should have this as one of its required exercises for students…”.
