The story says that he is going to authorize training of “moderate Syrian rebels.” The problem with this is that there is no significant Western-oriented or pluralist force among the Syrian rebels. Even the New York Times acknowledged this, over a year ago: “Nowhere in rebel-controlled Syria is there a secular fighting force to speak of.” (New York Times, April 28, 2013)
“Obama Close to Authorizing Military Training of Syrian Rebels,” by Adam Entous, Wall Street Journal, May 27, 2014:
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama is close to authorizing a mission led by the U.S. military to train moderate Syrian rebels to fight the regime of Bashar al-Assad and al Qaeda-linked groups, a move that would expand Washington’s role in the conflict, U.S. officials said.
A new military training program, if implemented, would supplement a small train-and-equip program led by the Central Intelligence Agency which Mr. Obama authorized…

Rhetorical question:
How many US based volunteer “moderates” will receive training? And EU based volunteer “moderates”, for that matter?
mortimer says
What ‘MODERATES’? They want discriminatory Sharia, a rubber stamp government and a caliphate-dictatorship.
NOTHING is ‘moderate’ about anything they want.

History about to repeat

These must be some of the limited involvement terrorists he wants to eventually import into the US. If they do his bidding they will surely get in.
Did Obama knock off Osama and al-Awlaki just so he could replace them and orchestrate the worldwide Jihad show all by himself?

Obama did not knock off Osama and al-Awlaki. They were knocked off by the American military forces following the orders from the Bush administration. I don’t know about al-Awlaki, but Obama OK-ied the strike against Osama only when further delaying of the action would become suspicious.
However, Obama did some “knock off” jobs – specifically against Egypt and Libya. Both jobs “knocked off” relative stability in the Middle East, while the latter resulted in knocking off four Americans lives.
What a revolting, criminally irresponsible person Obama is.

Hello sheik —
Yes, he “believes in Islam” — 100%. I have been posting links to the following astonishing vid, from week to week here at JW.

A commenter did say that for her/him, either picture or sound did not appear. For me, both pic and sound are OK. Fiddle with your player’s settings or download protocol if there is any problem.
PLEASE WATCH THIS VID AND TELL EVERYONE YOU CAN TO SPREAD THE WORD…

JT, I’ll send the link to others for sure. A couple times when I clicked on it, the link took me to a pro-gay rights speech. I came back here and clicked again, then the correct video showed up.
Just a note to not be discouraged if it happens to other Watchers too.

Why, oh why, is the US involving itself in an internal Middle Eastern struggle? Even from the point of view of the State Department drones, I can’t see a reason to intervene in the Syrian conflict. There is absolutely no upside, even if all the most optimistic projections of the US government come to pass.
The only bright side to the situation is that the Russian government will increase it’s support of the Syrian government, and the Russians are going to be far more effective than the bungling US. The Syrian government will kill off a lot of jihadists, and will provide some protection to the Christians, secularists, and non-Sunnis in Syria.
I absolutely hate the thought that my government is promoting an evil government and evil cause.
Another down side of the whole mess is that the US will inevitably become allied with a whole army of unsavory Islamists, who will face death once the Syrian government reasserts control over the country, and who will consequently have a claim to emigrate to the US for “humanitarian” reasons.
These people will be boiling over with religious, revolutionary fervor, and will exponentially increase the internal security problems of the US.

Well, sure looks like another resounding brain fart!
Who determines if the West-friendly status of these so-called moderates — their lip service when they’re at the bottom of the pile, taqqiya style?
For this whole affair to be led by the CIA, there has to be an ulterior motive hidden from public view — but what? Did Assad cross another red line no one is telling us about?
And what does Israel think about the impending mess of US involvement? I’ll check out Israeli sites on this.

The Republican opposition to the madness of the Democrat’s regime ended when the Republican party became Democrat Party Light.

Wow, based on that statement, it seems that there is currently a three-way civil war going on in Syria. That sounds logical, no?
MuslimConvert says
Obama wants to destroy moderate Islam and replace it with terroristic Islam. This way, the decadent and amoral Western culture with all of its feminist and gay propaganda can be portrayed as the only alternative for salvation. This is the endgame: the eradication of traditional cultures worldwide and replacing the with a single, global culture – the American culture. Allah willing, this little experiment will fail miserably, as the fact that Assad remains in power in Syria so ominously suggests.
Myxlplik says
Hummm, interesting angle sort of like the Borg from Star Trek. I really can’t see any flaws in your logic. It really does seem like the US government favors and supports the likes of the MB every chance it gets.
Why did you convert to Islam? Marriage?

Personally I think Washington wants the return of the Caliphate.

“Moderate Islam”? What’s that, you mean the type of Islam that ignores the Quoran and Hadiths? if you believe that and aren’t simply lying, you’re not a Muslim, you’re an apostate!

Why is that time and time again all these tough guy Muslims need us infidels to train them how to fight their wars. Actually this so-called “training” usually evolves into us taking over and fighting their wars for them, while they become on-lookers when they are not engaging in green on blue killings.

Well, as they see it, why do anything difficult or dangerous when you can get a kafir to do it for you? If the karif is successful, you come out ahead; if he fails, you can place all the blame on him.
Kepha says
Every American, especially from “Blue States”, should write to his senators and representatives with as strongly worded a letter as possible against this policy. We need to hammer home that the USA would be allying itself with genocide against Syria’s Christians, and would be supporting the selfsame people who brought us 9/11. Challenge your representatives to ask the administration if it really knows who these supposed “moderate” oppositionists are, and what realistic chances they have against long-entrenched Muslim Brotherhood- and Qaida-supporting groups.
Further, make it clear to these Democratic pols that you don’t think that the Syrian conflict is worth the sacrifice of a single American life–especially since this administration has chosen to withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Uncle Kepha believes that the American people are being played for a nation of sheep by an administration that is not so much sinister as foolish.

I am sick and tired of hearing of Obama supporting all the wrong things always. When I, just an ordinary being can see the danger of supporting the rebels in Siria how come leaders dont.? Does everyone just sit and watch Obama do blunders and have no voice in shaping his decisions? Isn’t there a way to stop him? How can a nation just go wrong because of one leader he should be thrown out of office right away. Wish America has something called “the no confidence motion” where the leader is thrown out in one day. We have to wait 8 years for complete destruction and then vote for another president.

Why is this Obama -the Nobel Peace Prize winner- not concerned with the seven million or so refugees that have been displaced by this internecine conflict and do the right thing with them and help them? Many have suffered under these militias, especially those militias bent on killing Christians and others. And he wants to arm them in order to prolong the agony of this conflict?
