Note carefully what Jamat-ud-Dawa’s chief Hafiz Saeed Ahmed says: “Geo News’ apology cannot be accepted as it is not in the hands of any cleric or government to forgive a blasphemous act….Geo is facing the wrath of Allah for its sins.” Not “Geo will face the wrath of Allah for its sins,” but Geo “is facing” the wrath of Allah now. In other words, the Muslim protesters are the wrath of Allah. That is why such protests so often turn violent: the wrath of Allah, after all, is geared toward punishment of the evildoers.
“Mammoth protests against Geo Television Netwrok [sic] for alleged blasphemy,” by Hissan Khan, Pakistan Tribe, May 16, 2014:
ISLAMABAD – Representatives of all sects, different political parties, religious groups and student organizations voiced against the alleged blasphemous act of Geo group for in which family of Holy Prophet Mohammed PBHU was ridiculed.
During and after Friday sermons, the religious clerics of all sects raised voice against Geo’s alleged blasphemy.
According to correspondents of PakistanTribe from Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad and Karachi, the masses staged demonstrated protest before and after Friday prayers.
Shia Ulma Council, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Jamat-ud-Dawa, Sunni Itehad Council, Tehreek-e-Millat-e-Jafaria, Imamia Student Organization and Islami Jamiyat-e-Talba were a few to name who demonstrated against Geo Group.
Jamat-ud-Dawa’s chief Hafiz Saeed Ahmed held a protest in Lahore in which he said “Geo News’ apology cannot be accepted as it is not in the hands of any cleric or government to forgive a blasphemous act. Geo must take the responsibility of what it has done. Geo is facing the wrath of Allah for its sins.”
Earlier today, citing the alleged blasphemous sin of Geo, the Prime Minster of Azad Kashmir had already ordered all cable operators to block broadcast of Geo in whole state.
The already in troubled Geo Television Network had conferred with another grave accusation of blasphemy for allegedly insulting family of Holy Prophet Mohammed PBUH during the marriage drama of Veena Malik.
The religious cleric of all sects joined their voices against the ‘heinous’ act by the Geo Television Network where a Qawali was played during the staged ceremony of Veena Malik’s marriage on morning show at Geo Entertainment.
A qawali is a Sufi devotional song.
Moreover, accepting the mistake, the host of Geo’s morning show Dr Shaista Lodhi said “We are ashamed on this unintentional mistake and seek forgiveness from the Allah.”
You may get that, Lodhi, but watch for his lynch mobs.
