Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Reza Aslan’s ugly rape fantasies

May 16, 2014 12:59 pm By Robert Spencer

AslanIn today’s politically correct culture, marching in the establishment lockstep, not ability, is what gets you ahead. The mainstream media lionizes people not because of their particular acumen, talents or intelligence, but because they parrot the establishment line that the media wants the public to adopt: contempt for America, hatred for Israel, disdain for Christianity and the Judeo-Christian tradition, and endless justification for Islamic supremacists and jihadists.

A prime example of this is our old friend Reza Aslan, the arrogant, foul-mouthed media darling who keeps revealing his abysmal ignorance in interview after interview, making howling errors of fact and then, when caught out, dismissing them as “typos.” Among his ridiculous errors of fact is his claim that the idea of resurrection “simply doesn’t exist in Judaism,” despite numerous passages to the contrary in the Hebrew Scriptures. He has also referred to “the reincarnation, which Christianity talks about” — and later claimed that one was a “typo.” In yet another howler he later insisted was a “typo,” he claimed that the Biblical story of Noah was barely four verses long — which he then corrected to forty, but that was wrong again, as it is 89 verses long. Interviewed at the BBC about Obama’s meeting with Pope Francis, Aslan claimed that the “founding philosophy of the Jesuits” was “the preferential option for the poor.” In reality, the Jesuits were founded in 1534. According to the California Catholic Conference, “the popular term ‘preferential option for the poor’ is relatively new. Its first use in a Church document is in 1968 from a meeting of the Conference of Latin American Bishops held in Medellin, Columbia.” So Aslan was only 434 years off — recalling when he called Turkey the second most populous Muslim country, which was only about 100 million people off.

Reza Aslan is such an intellectually formidable scholar that he writes “than” for “then”; apparently thinks the Latin word “et” is an abbreviation; and writes “clown’s” for “clowns.” Aslan is less a “religious scholar” than he is a marginally literate, unevenly educated charlatan with a talent for telling the mainstream media what it wants to hear. His big secret is that he is really not all that bright, and is in way over his head, asked to comment all the time on matters that are way beyond his competence — and he knows it, which is why he lashes out so ferociously against anyone who dares to challenge him.

But this shows that he is not just stupid. He is also evil. “Reza Aslan’s Ugly Rape Fantasies”: Jamie Glazov interviews Pamela Geller at FrontPage Magazine, May 16, 2014:

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Pamela Geller, the President of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), publisher of PamelaGeller.com and author of The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America and Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance. Follow her on Twitter here. Like her on Facebook here.

FP: Pamela Geller, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

Geller: Thank you, Jamie.

FP: I understand that the Muslim author Reza Aslan has said that he wanted to “make hate babies” with you. Can you please give us the details?

Geller: Jamie, it was on a Reddit thread. Reza was taking questions, and one Reddit user asked him: “Hello Reza, I have an excellent start up question for you. You and Pamela Geller are stuck on an island, what happens?”

Aslan answered: “Are we stuck forever? If so, then I guess it’s time to make some hate babies Pam.”

The person who asked the question, “benalmy,” was thrilled by this display of hatred and savagery, and wrote back: “oh dude you are awesome!” Another commented: “By expressing his ability to hate a woman and still wish to have sex with her, he becomes very relatable to reddit’s users.” And it was true: “scruba” wrote: “Reza, you’re my hero,” and “btn pshr” added: “omg this is amazing, I can’t even…” “Squishie 5413” wrote: “This is the best response I’ve ever seen.”

Only one commenter, “wanweilin,” at the very end of the thread, dared to challenge Aslan and state the obvious: “Sounds like rape. Appropriate for treatment for an infidel.”

We know there is a term for this: “hate-f**k.” And the Left has a field day with it to humiliate and slander conservative women. Vile.

When was the last time you heard a genuine pro-freedom writer fantasize about raping someone on the Left?

FP: You’re right, Pamela: imagine if a well-known male conservative said this about a liberal or Muslim woman, and then commentators chimed in to say how much they loved him for saying such a thing? The conservative’s career would be over and the comments would be used to show how “hateful” conservatives are.

Your thoughts on this double standard?

Geller: Jamie, the savagery and hate of the Left and Islamic supremacists (and Aslan is both) are off the charts, open and unapologetic, and still the enemedia claims that conservatives are the haters.

What’s amazing, and telling, about Reza Aslan is that he is such a mainstream media darling despite how hateful and vicious he is. After he shot to national attention last summer for boasting about degrees he didn’t have on Fox News, it came to light that he routinely berated his critics on Twitter with foul-mouthed abuse worthy of a schoolyard bully, not a respected analyst. The mainstream media took no notice, of course – and so here again is the double standard. If a conservative writer had been discovered to be speaking to people that way, he would have been denounced and ridiculed all the way out of the public square.

But none of that matters to the Left at all. One leftist group, Intersections International, which claims to promote “peacemaking” and “interfaith outreach,” actually honored Aslan “for his work at the intersection of religion, scholarship, and global peacemaking.” If anyone isn’t a peacemaker, it is this potty-mouthed creep. But for Intersections International and the entire Left, abusing and mocking conservatives even with the most repulsive language doesn’t mean he isn’t a wonderful person and even a “peacemaker.” As far as the Left is concerned, conservatives aren’t entitled even to the most basic human respect.

FP: Aslan also has ties to Islamic supremacists, doesn’t he?

Geller: Yes, Jamie.

Even more important than his foul mouth and disgusting rape fantasies is how closely he is aligned with jihadists and Islamic supremacists.

Here is a summary:

Reza Aslan is “a Board member of a lobbying group for the bloodthirsty and genocidally antisemitic Iranian regime. Aslan tried to pass off Iran’s genocidally-minded former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a liberal reformer and has called on the U.S. Government to negotiate with Ahmadinejad himself, as well as with the jihad terror group Hamas. Aslan has even praised the jihad terror group Hizballah as ‘the most dynamic political and social organization in Lebanon,’ and has also praised the anti-Semitic, misogynist, Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood, which is dedicated in its own words, according to a captured internal document, to ‘eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.’ Aslan wrote: ‘The Muslim Brotherhood will have a significant role to play in post-Mubarak Egypt. And that is good thing.’ Millions of Egyptians obviously disagree. He has also applauded and called for the forcible shutdown of the free speech of those he hates — a quintessentially fascist impulse.”

FP: And this man is a hero of the Left.

Geller: Yes, Jamie, It shows just how low they’ve sunk.

FP: Pamela, thank you for joining us today. We wish you the best and thank you for everything that you do.

A thorough dressing down of Reza Aslan by Spencer — but for one ingredient: aside from parroting and packaging all the PC MC memes to the liking of the PC MC mainstream, Reza Aslan possesses another advantage: he belongs to, and is an apologist for, the only religion on the planet that the PC MC mainstream bends over backward and salaams forward to whitewash and airbrush, industriously maintaining — and regularly displaying — a Portrait of Dorian Grey of Islam in its public cellar.

Reza Aslan belongs to Islam: that automatically propels him to the top of the heap in the eyes of the West’s PC MC mainstream. Being Muslim is the 21st century’s Affirmative Action, whereby innumerable hacks, charlatans, and enablers of evil are granted unearned promotion and publicity. On top of that, Reza then has the added advantage of looking sort of young, with a definite hint of a Brown Jon Stewart thang going on.

I always like to start comments here about this guy by saying hello to him — because he reads everything on JW…

Yo Reza !!! Dude, howzitgoin ? Still jealous of Bob Spencer’s expertise and success ?

Let me remind JW readers to put your name in the search box, so they can see for themselves a classis example of juvenile-personality disorder — stuck at age 13-14 — when boys like you are still confused about which gender they want to identify with.

Even if Mr. Reza “Let-the-third-intifada-commence” Aslan tries to downplay this as a joke, he’s still on the hook for joking about raping and forcibly impregnating an ideological opponent. May he–and more importantly the general public–be reminded of his own words for next, oh, 30-40 years or so, if he doesn’t unambiguously and sincerely apologize and retract them.

Reza Aslan–isn’t that the Muslim who joked about raping and forcibly impregnating a Jewish woman?

And here’s what he says he’s all about:
“Thanks man. That’s really nice. Here’s the thing. I don’t think of myself as having a job. I think of it as having a mission. My mission is to break down walls between communities using arts and literature. I have a bunch of different jobs that allow me to fulfill my mission.
So that’s my advice: Don’t get a job. Get a mission.”
      http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/234cyl/i_am_author_and_scholar_of_religions_reza_aslan/cgtaomm

Breaking down walls between communities? So as a Muslim he is joking about raping a Jewish woman, and this is supposed to break down walls between communities?

Watch the liar in action now, omitting completely the objectionable part of his “joke”:

Aslan: “How desperate have Gellar/Spencer become? They’ve turned a @reddit_AMA joke about being stuck on island w/ Pam into a “rape fantasy.” Ech!”
      https://twitter.com/rezaaslan/status/467479212622770176

Here again is his comment from reddit, after being asked, in jest, about being stuck on an island with Geller:

“Are we stuck forever? If so, then I guess it’s time to make some hate babies Pam.”

Perhaps Aslan could explain how Geller and Spencer managed to insert the part about making “hate babies.”

The fact is that Aslan has responded to a possible scenario by conjuring up a further joke that entails raping a female political opponent. Who would think of joking about something like that? Who are the kinds of people who think it’s okay to make rape jokes?

I am ‘wanweilin’ responding in the thread. I framed the response along the theme of RA’s fantasy and as I see typical as a misogynist muslim I portray as ‘wanweilin’.

My purpose was to see the response it would generate. Unsurprisingly, no one criticized the remark in the thread, but my sincere apologies to Ms. Geller as my intent was focused on RA’s answer and not her.

I have recently finished reading the Koran plus several hundred pages of al-Bakhari’s hadith. Western Civilization and Islam are totally incompatible from what I have read. RA and the taqiyya brigade demonstrate this continually.

I am always thankful for Ms. Geller’s and Mr. Spencer’s unwavering defense of the civilized man/woman.

    Regards and apologies, Tim

PS: It has been conjectured that the man standing front of the line of tanks at Tiananmen Square was named Wan Wei Lin. I travel to China occasionally and this is my ‘Chinese’ name. I cannot know or speak for how your comment was received by Ms. Geller or others, but when I read it on FP, I thought you were just pointing out that what he was saying would happen was *rape* and *sop for muslims.* Not any suggestion to me that your comment was in agreement with the slimy response of aslan, or the other comments agreeing with his slimy response. It seemed to me to be a comment in opposition to the others.

Perhaps the would-be rapist would get a rock to the head (as opposed to those he carries inside his head), were he to try to carry out his fantasies. Alone forever would be better than spending a minute in his slimy company.

And I, too, remember the young Chinese standing as the tanks rolled. Not many could do that, I think. Not many today seem able to stand for what is right and good, or even just on principle.

Now there’s a fantasy fit for Fantasy Island! Sort of Lost and Survivor meets The Accused and The Burning Bed. I can see Pam Geller and Reza stranded after a shipwreck or plane crash on an island — she quickly fending for herself (in a makeshift dress reminiscent of Raquel Welch’s in One Million Years B.C.) by building a shelter, a fire, foraging for food, etc., while Reza is stumbling around with his pants around his ankles unable to survive and trying to sponge off her, hitting the side of his head periodically to try to dislodge the water in his ears, gawking up at the albatrosses circling in the sky only to get birdshit in his eye, rolling out his straw prayer mat to pray five times a day and trying to steal from her camp instead of lifting a finger to pitch in and help. Then one fated day when he tries to realize his own fantasy, with one arm she rams his skinny frame up against a rock by his neck, while dispatching his “little mo” with her scavenger knife and tossing out to the nearby surf for shark food.

I hate to be in the position of defending Reza Aslan, but I don’t think that this was any kind of ‘rape fantasy’ on his part. He was just making an off the cuff joke. Don’t read to much into it.

    • RodSerling says

      May 18, 2014 at 9:38 am

      William,

I’ve thought about various ways Aslan could defend himself here. I agree that it was probably intended as a joke, but regarding it as joke doesn’t get Aslan off the hook, nor does it negate that Aslan’s scenario would probably involve rape, and thus constitutes a kind of rape fantasy on his part. As far as I can tell, he has, pretty much straightforwardly, made a joke entailing, or at least implying, the rape of a female political opponent. For anyone but a mainstream media darling, this would be a career-ending move. It is part of a larger context in which Aslan, Loonwatch, Russell Brand, and other leftists, Islamic supremacists, and assorted goofballs have been engaging in verbal sexual harassment of Pamela Geller. In this case, he appears to be using the pretext of a joke scenario to attack someone he genuinely hates. Regarding it as a joke doesn’t absolve Aslan of charges of sexual harassment.

The other significant contextual element here is the website reddit itself, which is notoriously misogynistic, allowing its mostly male commenters to verbally sexually harass female commenters, even threatening to rape and kill them. Guys on there have joked about having sex with under-aged girls. This has all been well-documented. This kind of misogyny, unsurprisingly, occurs not only in Aslan’s joke, but also occurs in most of the responses to it. (Of the two exceptions who objected to Aslan’s joke, one criticized reddit, the other criticized Islam). Also, his joke was overwhelmingly up-voted. Again, not surprising: It is reddit we are talking about here. If he’d said explicitly that he was going to tie her up and rape her, his supporters on reddit would have been just as enthusiastic, judging by the history of the place. Is Aslan naive about reddit? I don’t think so. I think he knew he’d be applauded as “cool” by the juvenile misogynists there, so he went for it.

I’d like to see an explanation of how, on that deserted island on which they are stranded, Aslan could get Geller to “make hate babies,” as his joke requires, without raping her. Note that a main premise of the joke is the fact that Aslan and Geller don’t like each other, to say the least. The joke opportunity arose because a commenter on reddit asked what would happen if these two people who don’t like each other are stuck on an island. Aslan knows, believes, Geller wouldn’t voluntarily have sex with him in that or any other scenario. The premise of “hate babies” most probably means that Aslan had sex with her against her will, i.e., raped her. Let’s also keep in mind that it was Aslan who conjured up this “hate babies” scenario, in response to the deserted island scenario. There are any number of ways he could have answered that. Mr. “breaking down walls between communities” Aslan could have proposed something positive or practical. He also could have, wisely, avoided answering the hypothetical question altogether. Instead, he actually chose to make the scenario permanent, chose to maintain the “hatred” and resistance between himself and Geller, and chose–out of all things–to impregnate her:

Aslan: “Are we stuck forever? If so, then I guess it’s time to make some hate babies Pam.”

In taking into account the substance of the joke, how does he defend it? How does he get Geller pregnant in that scenario, where she has no escape, without raping her? The only possibility would be if Geller voluntarily had sex with him. But if she voluntarily had sex with him, the resulting babies wouldn’t be the product of “hate.” Aslan’s “hate babies” joke operates on the most likely assumption that he is imagining forcing Geller against her will.

Another layer to this: Suppose we put aside the issue of whether the sex implied in the joke was voluntary or involuntary. At the very least, what we have is Aslan making a joke about having “hate” sex with a political opponent whom he despises, knowing full well that she would be at the very least annoyed and offended by the joke, then refusing to apologize when caught out. Again, this is still a form of verbal sexual harassment.

There is no way out for Aslan on this one, short of a full retraction and sincere apology to Pamela Geller. But Aslan is, at least, probably too stubborn to do that; and more likely he doesn’t think he did anything wrong. Hence, I think he’s going to be wearing this particular albatross around his neck for the rest of his public career as a polemicist.

  15. Mirren10 says

    May 18, 2014 at 8:17 am

” … I don’t think that this was any kind of ‘rape fantasy’ on his part. He was just making an off the cuff joke”

Come off it. aslan would have to be even more spectacularly stupid and cretinous than he actually is, if he thinks, in his remotest dreams, that Pam Geller would *voluntarily* make *any* kind of babies with him. So that leaves rape, no ?

Again with the disclaimer that I don’t particularly care for the guy –
I STILL say that you guys and gals are reading WAY to much into this – why are you all assuming that he thought about this deeply before he said it? Why are you assuming that he was thinking about rape? I don’t think he thought it through at ALL, or thought about it in advance, or analyzed it to death before he said it. He just blurted it out because he thought it was funny.

Come ON people! Your making a planet out of a dust mote here!

        Will,

One could also point out that sometimes one’s honest feelings are expressed most immediately without much time conscious editing. And one doesn’t have to assume he thought about it deeply. One can reasonably assume he was conscious of the meaning of the words he chose when he wrote them.

This is not the first time Aslan, Loonwatch, et al. have engaged in insulting or hostile sexual remarks about Pamela Geller. It’s not as though Aslan’s statement is some randomly generated verbiage that just popped out of nowhere. He not only had time to weigh his words in that situation, and the consequences of publishing them in a public forum, but he has been insulting Geller for years.

Who the heck comes up with “hate babies,” of all things, in that situation?

If this really was nothing to be concerned about, as you suggest, then why does Aslan refuse to address what he actually said? (His evasion was shown on twitter, when he omitted entirely the fact that he said it was time for Geller to make “hate babies” with him). Why does he refuse to apologize, if the “hate babies” comment is really no big deal, as you suggest?

I wrote: “I’d like to see an explanation of how, on that deserted island on which they are stranded, Aslan could get Geller to “make hate babies,” as his joke requires, without raping her.”

        Still awaiting your explanation.

Anyway, I’ve said what I said about this and I’m not going to post it again.
