Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Robert Spencer in FrontPage Mag: Pope Francis: Mahmoud Abbas is a “Man of Peace”

May 27, 2014 11:54 am By Robert Spencer

AbbasFrancisAt FrontPage today I discuss the Pope’s statement that Mahmoud Abbas is a “man of peace,” which he is just as much as the Qur’an is “opposed to every form of violence.”

AP reported Sunday that “Pope Francis delivered a powerful boost of support to the Palestinians during a Holy Land pilgrimage Sunday, repeatedly backing their statehood aspirations, praying solemnly at Israel’s controversial separation barrier and calling the stalemate in peace efforts ‘unacceptable.’”

Not only that, but “Palestinian officials hailed Francis’ decision to refer to the ‘state of Palestine.’ In its official program, the Vatican referred to President Mahmoud Abbas as the president of the ‘state of Palestine,’ and his Bethlehem office as the ‘presidential palace.’ He pointedly called Abbas a ‘man of peace.’”

This is not really all that surprising. After all, this is the Pope who wrote last November that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” If “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence,” then Abbas is certainly a “man of peace.”

Abbas is the “man of peace” who said on March 15, 2013: “As far as I am concerned, there is no difference between our policies and those of Hamas.” He said that while undoubtedly knowing that Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna is quoted in the Hamas Charter as saying: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” Hamas’s Al Aqsa TV has featured a music video that proclaimed: “Killing Jews is worship that draws us close to Allah.”

The “man of peace” heads up Fatah, which is hardly more “moderate.” Palestinian Media Watch reported on May 14 that “on one of its official Facebook pages the Fatah movement, which is headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, yesterday posted a warning to Israelis. A sign showed an assault rifle and a map of ‘Palestine’ that included both PA areas and all of Israel. In Arabic, Hebrew, and English it said: ‘Warning. This is a land of a Palestinian state and the occupation to leave immediately’ (English original).”

Likewise, in mid-March, Palestinian official Abbas Zaki, a close friend of the “man of peace,” declared: “These Israelis have no belief, no principles. They are an advanced instrument of evil. They say, the Holocaust, and so on – fine, why are they doing this to us? Therefore, I believe that Allah, will gather them so we can kill them. I am informing the murderer of his death.” Fatah has also vowed to “adhere to the option of armed resistance until the liberation of all of Palestine,” and threatened to “turn the beloved [Gaza] Strip into a graveyard for your soldiers, and we will turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire.”

On top of all this, the spot where the Pope paused to pray at what AP called “Israel’s controversial separation barrier” – actually its security barrier – featured graffiti referring to the barrier as an “apartheid wall” and comparing Bethlehem to the Warsaw Ghetto. Middle East analyst Tom Gross noted that in reality, “the security barrier, which has saved countless lives, was built to protect Israelis after some 1000 civilians were killed by suicide bombers.” Israel did not build the barrier because of “racism” or a desire to emulate apartheid South Africa — to compare Israel to apartheid South Africa is a monstrous piece of disinformation, as a black South African has explained.

Moreover, Gross points out: “Bethlehem is a relatively prosperous town where restaurants and juice bars are packed, and BMWs, Mercedes and Humvees compete for parking spaces in the center or town. By contrast, 400,000 Jews were herded into the Warsaw Ghetto and those who weren’t beaten or starved to death there, were taken to be exterminated at nearby camps.”

In allowing himself to become an instrument of Palestinian jihad propaganda, and spreading that propaganda himself, the Pope has done a grave disservice to free people and aided and abetted the genocidal jihad against Israel. The damage resulting from his trip is impossible to calculate at this point, but it could be immense. Pope Francis’s jaunt in the “State of Palestine,” was a tremendous show of support for the jihad against Israel, and a dark day for the papacy, the Roman Catholic Church, and free people everywhere.

As an Irish Catholic, let me say that Pope Francis disgusts me. It’s his responsibility to know what he talking about, and either he has failed that or he’s a liar. A globo-socialist from Buenos Aries. Disgusting. At least Pope Benedict showed a partial spine before he was cowed. Meanwhile, the bloodbath only broadens in scope.

One of the things thepope had called for is the dividing of the land. There are many reasons why this is very unrealistic and this idea would not work. Nevertheless one main things wrong with is idea of “dividing the land” is that it is evil. The reason that this idea is evil is because of the may evil schemes of coming Anti- Christ who is prophesized in the Bible to come into the world. One of the wicked things that the coming Anti-Christ wil do is to “divide the land…” Daniel 11:39. Though many people will not like to hear it. This very much seems that the pope may very wll have some of the same spirit as of the coming Anti-Christ.

‘Mahmood Abbas is Yasser Arafat with a tie’. So says Jonathan Schanzer, the author of the book State of Failure. That being the case, it is pertinent to remind ourselves of the 1977 statement by Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee member Zahir Muhsein:

‘The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.’

What has changed since 1977 that the Pope should fawn over Mahmoud Abbas? The honeymoon is over for Pope Francis.

islam at this point in time is the the most dangerous in a long line of religions and we will not win this war by just killing the killers.
        Religion is an idea.
And when this idea explains the world around you and it’s all you are taught and then outsiders come along and kill your people who believe in the same idea you do, who you are taught to believe are your brothers and sisters, then you will fight back.
To win this war we must win the real battle.
Humanity must let go of the idea of a supreme being.

          Religion is an idea.

Well, let me give you a fact: Islam explicitly calls for the destruction of all other religions and world takeover in the form of global Sharia. No other religion does that. Well, maybe except for the secular religion of globo-socialism.

The conflation of Islam and other religions is wrong, and sad.

          May 27, 2014 at 6:48 pm

Oh, get off of it will you. You fight one battle at a time, fool. Taking on religion in general when only one religion, i.e., Islam, is an immediate threat to us all, and a very lethal one at that, is stupid. You got that? Yes, STUPID.

There are many Christians and other theists here at JW, including Robert Spencer, who are working in alliance with non-theists like myself to defeat Islam’s nefarious intentions. And what do you opine? Why, that all religion is wrong and silly and we must take on all religion even though religionists minus Muslims are a virtual zero threat to liberty and other good things. It would be difficult to be more idiotically divisive than yourself.

I’m so tired of people like you who have made a religion out of not having one. And I convey this to you as the completely non-religious person that I am. You are a hindrance to defeating Islamic supremacist designs and not an aid to it. Got that? Yes, a hindrance.

Get over yourself. Get over your limited ideas. Get lost until you can constructively contribute here at JW.

Expand your mind. Here’s an approach you might want to consider: Being non-religious does not necessarily, nor should it, equate to being anti-religious. Grasp this if you can. Unfortunately, I highly doubt you have the capacity to do so, so limited in your thinking as you are.

Don’t get me wrong…I despise islam. But at it’s core it’s still a religion or an idea.

Consider, Concerned, if you will, what a skeptic said about religion. The skeptic was Benjamin Franklin and he opined that “If man is bad with religion, imagine what he’d be without it.” Another skeptic, Voltaire, observed that “If God doesn’t exist, then we’d have to invent Him.” Of course, Islam and its wretched excuse for a deity would be the exception to these sage observations. And chuck the superficial Matrix crap. If you want a counter to the Matrix superficiality, take a look at what MIchelangelo accomplished because of his religious belief—–or Dante—–or Handel—–or——or—–or——.

Besides, no major religion is a threat to liberty and equality under the law except for Islam, so why fight more than one fight at a time if you don’t have to? You don’t have to, so wise up by reconsidering things. Meanwhile, put the Matrix stuff on the shelf and take a look at the Divine Comedy.

All religion is a threat to liberty if it becomes powerful and as for equality…just ask the women if they agree with you on that..

But that’s not true with any ideology. I mean, marxism/socialism has never gotten out of hand and caused the murder of millions! Oh yeah, it did. In fact, far more than those killed by any one religion besides maybe Islam.

Thanks for that, Foolster41. You know, as much as I decry the obtuseness of the Islamic faith, it’s sometimes a close call whether Islam or modern liberalism represents the greater foolhardiness. Choosing between Islam and modern liberalism is rather, often times, like choosing between the firepot or the fire——and neither will ever recognize this, learn this, acknowledge this, since it’s a feature of what they are.

I’m sure you’ll understand why this concerns me. Civilization is a far more fragile thing than many people realize. It can be destroyed in an instant when barbarians or ignoramuses take control.

Most fragile is liberty. Islam and modern liberalism, though under different guises, and actually posing often times as champions of liberty, are both an inveterate enemy to freedom in their own unique, Orwellian way.

Hope you and yours are doing well. A memorable Memorial Day to you and yours. Thanks for your comments here at JW, a bastion of freedom in a freedom-declining world.

The Pope does seems to be misinofrmed, but I would assume that the local Catholic Church should know what is going on there and be able to give information to the Vatican. That is one of the purposes of Vatican Nunciatures. He probably came from Argentina with this illusion. It seems that Pope Benedict was well aware of the nature of Islam.
I think what should be of the greatest interest to the Pope is the fact that so many Christians are abandoning it as it is more and more diffiuclt for them to live there due mainly to Yihadism. One of the purposes of the world wide collection made on Good Friday is to support Christians in the Holy Land, mainly by helpiing the Franciscan Custody there. Also Catholics all over the world are invited to go there on pilgrmage which is also a way of supporting the beleaguered Christian, not only Catholics, but also Orthodox and Protestants there.

We cannot defeat the islamic religion (ideas) with guns.
The strategy is to topple their god, causing them to have no cause or want to fight.
The tactics are to fight physically (yes with guns) to defend ourselves and fight psychologically (attack their god which like all gods doesn’t exist).

BTW, how do you know no God exists? If you assert such, you are by implication avowing that you know the entire universe and that is both intellectually arogant and illogical.

And remember, the possibility of a God is not only a religious matter but a philosophical one as well, as, among others, Plato and Aristotle knew only too well. While you’re at it, try Erigena or Aquinas, or at least Spinoza, as food for thought. Or are you so certain of your convictions that there is no possibility for error and so the thinking of such men need not be considered?

letting the muslims fix the Jewish problem this century

    http://www.israpundit.com/archives/63596818#more-63596818

The latest Papal visit has destroyed a great deal of the good work of Vatican II and those who laboured in the fields of building bridges. Each Papal visit to the Holy Land is filled with symbolic gestures and each move is calculated and orchestrated, and this visit was meant to embarrass and berate the Jewish State.

The visit by Pope Francis with his two wingmen, Rabbi Abraham Skovka and Imam Omar Abboud, was all part of the effort to help set the stage for a most severe attack by the Vatican on the Jewish homeland.
    …
His hand and head were gently placed next to the antisemitic graffiti comparing the security wall, which has protected Israeli civilians from Islamist terrorists, as a wall that symbolized the Warsaw Ghetto wall. The Pope could not have chosen to insult the Jewish people with any greater gesture. What an insult to the victims of Nazism. What a mockery of history.
    …
Not once did the Pope object to the imagery throughout Bethlehem that showed Jesus garbed in Muslim attire. Here was the new Jesus, no longer a Jew, but now transformed miraculously into a Palestinian being killed by Israeli soldiers. I wonder how this feeds the theology of those Catholics who still believe in the deicide that the Jews allegedly committed.
    …
Imagine if his Holiness, Pope Francis, had taken his two wingmen, Abbas and Shimon Peres and said: Let us ascend to the Temple Mount which is holy to all of our three faiths, and let us pray together at the holiest site in the world.

Hey Champ, sorry i missed your post.
If you’re non religious then you should be supporting my position, but… it’s a free world.
‘Making a religion out of not having one’…??you sure you aren’t a closet believer?
If you really think about it religion is the worst idea that we ever came up with.
    Period.
Such suffering humanity has undergone because of religion.
    Here’s the thing…Are you a parent?
If you are, tell me what crime your child could commit that would allow you to let the child be tortured (gone to hell) horribly forever ?
    Forever?
That means that for every ‘sin’ ever committed by every human being that ever lived, your child will suffer one million years of torture. For every ‘sin’ of every person that ever lived…!!
And that amount of time hasn’t even scratched the surface of ‘Forever’
That is insane. Believing that that is acceptable is a crime against Humanity.
    Don’t you think..?

Hi, Concerned. Yes, you should be concerned about your lack of intellect. There are many things human beings cannot detect with the five senses but which still exist nonetheless. Ultra-violet light, ultra high frequency sounds, cosmic rays, nuclear radiation are a few examples. I need a special monitor in my home to detect carbon dioxide since it is colorless, odorless and tasteless. If you haven’t started high school yet you might want to sign up for some science classes…..you’ll be surprised by the things you will discover. You might even come to love the quest for knowledge….oops….love…..that’s another thing I can’t detect with any of my five senses but I’m 100 percent positive it exists. Happy learning. Catch you later.

Oh, I’m sure by now he is geordie. But that’s not really interesting. The thing to remember is that he is first of all a nut and must not be taken seriously. His batty cry “Kill God!!!!” is a desperate begging for attention – the way a silly child utters profanities in order to provoke reaction of grown ups – any reaction. He must be very lonely as his five senses he keeps on raving about don’t seem to provide him with company he craves. Otherwise what would he be looking for on a blog, which has nothing to do with religion in general?

Doesn’t that make this life, your life, the most precious thing ever?

And again my friend, the great people you mention were products of their time, trying to make sense of the universe.

But my five senses help me to understand my surroundings in the Universe, CogitoErgoSum, thomas_h,SAKOVKT & Champ.

Mankind figured out all the things you have mentioned and more. Not once did any god come and help or correct us if we got something wrong!!
No, we learnt by our mistakes and creating theories…
And we verify these theories by testing them. Observation (which I can see, one of my five senses) allows us to confirm our theory.
And the beauty of science is that it’s happy to get a truer reality, if the new idea can meet the scrutiny of proof.
Which I might add, is something that all religions appear unable to provide!!

In any (Western) court of law you would have to say that an absentee father and all gods have much in common…never around to help.
Kill god, won’t gain traction? Every generation there are more people who don’t believe in gods and we are increasing at a faster and faster rate. And the reason for that is that each generation gets smarter than the last.
You religious people have held sway for too long on this planet and you’ve made a mess of it. We are sick of you and your dangerous beliefs.
Take the red pill and come into the light!

This new pope is a charlatan. He preaches socialism over charity which robs individuals of their God-given free will. He has told Catholics to “tone down” their anti-abortion campaigns. He allows a nun, Sister Teresa Forcades, to openly state that women have a right to choose abortion.
And still the church will not confess its own sin of hiding pedophiles on American Indian reservations, allowing them to continue to molest innocents!

Yes, I’m glad she did, as are my children. However I would have been none the wiser if I had been terminated. Just the same as all the wasted sperm and eggs in the world will never be people.
If the couple or the woman believe the pregnancy will have an adverse affect or is medically unwise or the unborn baby is medically unwell and will have no pleasure in life then an abortion is reasonable.
Why should you’re imaginary god make the decision instead of the woman who it is directly affecting?

Head of Catholic Church has become complicit to Palestinians’ incessant reversal of reality

    http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4524151,00.html

At the conclusion of his visit in Bethlehem, the Pope could have taken the five-minute drive to Jerusalem to begin the Israeli leg of his visit. Yet he chose to take a helicopter to Ben-Gurion International Airport, which is a full 35-40 minutes from Jerusalem. Why would he go so far out of his way, when Jerusalem was merely five minutes from Bethlehem? To demonstrate to the world he was leaving one “state” and arriving in another, which is a clear endorsement of “the state of Palestine.”

Why the Pope is saying these things is truly beyond my understanding.

Islam is what Islam does, and not what it says. There is a very sensible answer for what Islam does. Because what Islam does best is deceive people. Think about it, we’ve been taught to consider others are respectable and honest.

So when we hear people say we are the religion of peace. Must people would
agree with them, straight away, because that is what we’ve been taught. It is also true that most of us don’t know a darn thing about Islam, or Christianity.
So we think it is very possible that Islam is the greater. And so we make our selves good hosts. And we feel good about helping them, and unlocking doors for them. We want to trust them, so, we do exactly that, if we know no better.
The problem is most of us are very ignorant when it comes to Islam. And why not trust them? They are the religion of peace, right? Islam expects no less of us ignorant fools.

Why do I call ourselves ignorant? Because the truth is, people are being murdered everyday because of Islam’s sharia law. Even Muslims are being savagely killed because sharia tells them too.

We haven’t heard about any of this because Islam doesn’t want the free world to know the truth. They kill their own for speaking to a Jew or a Christian. But we don’t hear about because Islam doesn’t allow it to be known.

Plus our news media is too ignorant to know any better. But they aren’t alone. Must on capital hill are also ignorant about this. So are most law enforcement agencies’, churches, schools, universities, hospitals, the FBI, the CIA, the Dept. of Justice, and the United States military.

Shows how ill informed the world is when it comes to the real Islam….

Concerned said: “I don’t equate genocide with legal funding. I didn’t say that.”
Concerned needs to look closer at what he’s replying to. Fr. thomas J. Hennigan specificily said, the holy land, thus protection from genocide by Muslims. So yes, by implying the money went instead to legally protect pedophiles he did make the equation, whether he meant to or not.

It is nothing more than yet another ad-honim about pedophilia (once again, implying it is something inherant in the whole of Chrsitianity or RC Church, when it is actions of a few, whoses deeds cannot be justifgied in scripture).

Also, concerned, like many anti-Christian anti-religious bigots have incrdibly thin skins, and complain of being “attacked”, when people merely disagree with them. This was the pattern with Daniel B. and Geordie, thus perhaps he was confused with one of them.

The topic of this forum isn’t the dangers of Christianity or the RC church. It’s the dangers of Islam. Fighting our allies while we fight our enemies is stupid.

  22. Foolster says

    May 28, 2014 at 7:04 pm

Looking back, I even see he quoted Hennigan with the part about how the money is for beseiged clergy in the Holy land, but expanded it’s meaning to protecting pedophiles.

Well, his intent is, but I was saying he’s a failure of propagandist, not nearly as good at propaganda as Goebbels (Goebbels was an effective propagandist, but lest I be mistaken, that is not to be taken as an admiration of Goebbels, in fact quite the opposite: he is to be hated for his effective propaganda covering of terrible acts).

Hi Foolster. Mmmmmm I still can’t see how you can say that I have equated (which I believe means… equal to, in this debate). I think you misinterpret my point..
I know the purpose of this site is to highlight the dangers of islam, of which there are many, but my point is that it is religion that is the true danger.
To win the war against islam all gods must be consigned to the dustbin of history.
Here are just a few that need to be put back in the bottle…

      http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/names/gods.htm

And on the contrary, it is not my skin that is thin. A careful review of replies to me show the howls of the hurt, not a factual point in sight.
And thank you for not comparing me to Joseph Gobbels.

Oh, so I’m misrepresenting that concerned misrepresented Hennigan?

Here is the exchange for the record:

        Hennigan said (empphsis mine):
“One of the purposes of the world wide collection made on Good Friday is to support Christians in the Holy Land, mainly by helpiing the Franciscan Custody there.”

        Concerned said:
“Didn’t know that. A douple dip into the pockets of well meaning people to keep the parasites (preachers) alive.

Or is this really going into the fund for your lawyers to help all the kiddy fiddlers that seem to be so prominent in the religious preachers ranks?”

It’s all there black and white, clear as cristal. The implication that funds don’t go to protect priests being persecuted by Muslims (which is perfectly clear what Hennigan is talking about) but to lawyers to protect “kiddy fiddlers” (notice with zero evidence to support such a claim). He pre-supposes that pedophilia in the RC church is much wider than it seems, even though pedophilia has ZERO basis in Christian texts or teachings.

“And on the contrary, it is not my skin that is thin. A careful review of replies to me show the howls of the hurt, not a factual point in sight.”

And I see no attacks by wellington against Concerned when he starting crying about shooting or attacking the messenger. As I said, thin skin. Also, concerned complains about “facts” when he presents no compelling facts as to why all religions are bad, or how the money being sent to the holy land is protecting pedophiles. Mr. Kettle, meet Mt. Pot.

    May 28, 2014 at 9:21 pm

Lol. I like the Mr kettle…
    However…

“Oh, so I’m misrepresenting that concerned misrepresented Hennigan?”

I said you misinterpreted not misrepresented. They mean two different things.
I quite clearly am poking a stick at Hennigan because I suspect he is a preacher (parasite).
I’ll bet you can’t prove all the money collected for said victims of genocide goes to this Franciscan Custody ( and hey…what do you know! A quick google tells me they don’t work but get ‘supported’) Spot the parasite.
Of course I can’t prove where the money has gone, that’s not the point. The aim was to growl at someone who thinks its ok to support parasites.
    Also…from wiki..
“The Franciscan order owns a great deal of property in the Holy Land, second only to the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem”
    I wonder why…?
Jeez, I thought it was harder for a rich man to get into heaven….
Fact 1. Islam is bad. Islam is a religion.
    Don’t you agree?

    • Foolster says

      May 28, 2014 at 9:56 pm

“I said you misinterpreted not misrepresented.”
fine, but Concerned hasn’t shown how I misinterpreted the exchange above at all. Concerned brings no proof to back his assertion.

“I’ll bet you can’t prove all the money collected for said victims of genocide goes to this Franciscan Custody”
Negetive proof falacy. Concerned is the one claiming the money is not going to where it’s supposed to go. Trying to get people to disprove what he is claiming is lazy.

“Of course I can’t prove where the money has gone, that’s not the point. ”
So Concerned admits he can’t proove what he is claiming. Alright then.

“The aim was to growl at someone who thinks its ok to support parasites.”
Of course this is dependent on his definition of “parasite”. thogh “growl” is appropriate, growling is hardly productive.

“Fact 1. Islam is bad. Islam is a religion. Don’t you agree?”
      Yes, of course.

Fact 2. It does not logically follow that because Islam is a religion, therefore all religions are bad. Agree? (Probably not).

Fact 3. It does not logically follow that because some people in a group do an evil thing, that it is condoned by the group they belong to, unless that thing is a part of it’s core teachings. Agree? (Again, probibly not).

Advice to anyone who may lob in here and persevere to this point in the thread, via the long, long detour on the subject of “Religion” vs “Atheism” (or, rather, Antitheism).

Go right back up to the top and reread the posted article. Just so you don’t forget what it was about.

That is a good habit to get into, whenever a thread is more than ordinarily disrupted/ dragged offtopic.
