The Egyptian government is moving against the Muslim Brotherhood, but that doesn’t mean that it is jettisoning all vestiges of Sharia and adopting the freedom of speech that is a hallmark of a free and pluralistic society. Even as Sharia is not fully enforced, its provisions are known and respected by millions of Egyptians, resulting in cases like this one.
“A Coptic man charged for insulting Islam and the ex-president,” by Abu Ezz Tawfik, Copts United, May 24, 2014 (thanks to Maged):
The court of Tama in Sohag sentenced Coptic teacher, Bishoy Camille, to 4 years in prison, and a fine of 10 thousand pounds on Thursday. He was charged with contempt of religion while the court acquitted him of the charge of insulting the isolated ex-president Mohamed Morsi.
The general prosecutor was accusing Bishoy Camille, resident of Tama, with insulting the Islamic religion through his drawing of a cartoon of the prophet Mohamed on Facebook and prompted clashes between the Muslims and Copts in Egypt. Also, the general prosecutor accused him of insulting the ex-president Mohamed Morsi by publishing inappropriate picture of him on the social media website, Facebook.

With all the reports JW has put up about non-Morsi, post-Morsi Egypt resembling — surprise, surprise — an Islamic values polity, someone needs to create a Salah Watch.
(JW Regulars will know what I’m referring to.)

Well, according to Salah, millions of Egyptians are poised on the point of becoming apostates, and rejecting sharia.
I really don’t understand why he continues to be, to my mind, so foolishly hubristic. It would be wonderful if he was correct, but in the light of stories such as this, and so many more, he is clearly in denial.

I’m afraid he’s irrationally exuberant—he appears to believe that a power struggle ousting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is actually a rejection of Shari’ah, or even of Islam itself—and that this will spread from Egypt to all of Dar-al-Islam.
Unfortunately, grim stories such as this one sadly continue to prove this rosy outlook sadly mistaken.

Muslims need to move forward and break unnecessary bad habits.
Yes, it is certainly true that Muslims once had a legitimate excuse for preventing Wanted Posters with Muhammad’s image.
Muhammad escaped the law only to receive justice at the hands of one of his wives who poisoned him.

Jay Boo, you say that Prophet Mohammad was poisoned to death by one of his wives. Is this true? Please quote us the Koranic verse to support this.
Thanks.

According to the hadith, Muhammad died from a morsel of poisoned lamb he ate at Khaibar. It was offered to him by a Jewish woman (not his wife).
It’s in the hadith, not the Qur’an.
Some analysts though, and based on many other ahadith (hadiths), came to the conclusion that his wife Aisha had something to do with another case of poisoning that took place three years later than the first one. (I don’t have much info about this second case of poisoning.)
Here’s the story of the poisoned lamb of Khaibar, hope it helps.

To all my fellow JW commenters,
Egypt is still a Muslim country. Things are changing, but these kind of changes don’t happen overnight. After 14 centuries of islamic brainwashing we should expect a few years or even a few decades before seeing palpable results.
I am very optimistic about Egypt’s future, I am also extremely optimistic about Islam’s near end.
I’m entitled to my opinion, you’re entitled to yours. Meanwhile, let’s keep fighting this evil cult. The war is far from over.
“Most recently, for example, the military-backed government jailed a popular Islamic scholar for contempt against Christianity—something that never happened under Morsi, when clerics were regularly and openly condemning and mocking Christians.” (Raymond Ibrahim)
