The British authorities want the “extremists” to know that they are “are prepared to take action to protect national security.” And yet they persist in their resolute denial to examine the belief-system that the jihadis routinely point to as their inspiration and motivation, and they remain determined to continue to pretend that that belief-system is something other than what it really is. By doing so, they only invite more jihad.
“Video: British man could face war crimes charges ‘after being filmed taking part in execution,'” by Richard Hartley-Parkinson, Mirror, May 2, 2014:
Video footage has emerged that apparently shows British fighters executing a prisoner in Syria believed to be an Assad loyalist.
The unnamed men, dressed in balaclavas, say that the killing was revenge for the death of four rebels and rape of a woman.
It was uncovered by the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and is believed to have taken place near Raqqa, north Syria.
Although he does not speak, the video has been studied and based on his build, watch and balaclava he is the same man who is seen in other footage on YouTube who speaks with a British accent.
He is shown holding a bullet describing it as “the pen of the mujahid. With it, it writes history”.
If it turns out that they have executed a prisoner, they could be tried for a war crime under international law….In another video he is heard ranting about British muslims [sic] failing to fund the jihad: “You know who you are, from the capital, the Midlands, up north, wherever you may be, the sincere brothers.
“It’s a disgrace, that brothers know where these wives are, where these families are, and yet you might be buying your nephew or your child a Playstation 4 or taking them out to Nandos.”
Another clip shows a cache of weapons with a similar sounding voice saying: “We are just giving you a brief insight on what the fighter needs to equip himself with. Possibly even to show you what your money can buy.”
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “This demonstrates why we have consistently called for the situation in Syria to be referred to the International Criminal Court.
“Horrific atrocities have been committed by both the Assad regime and by extremists. The international community must ensure that all those responsible are held to account.
“Our priority is to dissuade people from travelling, but any extremists should know we are prepared to take action to protect national security, and intelligence agencies and police are working to identify potential threats.”
Yeah, sure you are.
