“A still-classified State Department e-mail says that one of the first responses from the White House to the Benghazi attack was to contact YouTube to warn of the ‘ramifications’ of allowing the posting of an anti-Islamic video.” The White House says this confirms their version of events, but Issa says: “The e-mail shows the White House had hurried to settle on a false narrative.” Indeed. There are thousands of videos on YouTube criticizing Islam in whole or part. The idea that this one touched off the Benghazi jihad attack, or was singular in any way, is ridiculous on its face.
“White House Contacted YouTube During Benghazi Attack, Darrell Issa Says,” by Jonathan Karl, ABC News, May 22, 2014:
A still-classified State Department e-mail says that one of the first responses from the White House to the Benghazi attack was to contact YouTube to warn of the “ramifications” of allowing the posting of an anti-Islamic video, according to Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
The memo suggests that even as the attack was still underway — and before the CIA began the process of compiling talking points on its analysis of what happened — the White House believed it was in retaliation for a controversial video.
…or wanted the world to believe that that was what was happening.
The subject line of the e-mail, which was sent at 9:11 p.m. Eastern Time on the night of the attack, is “Update on Response to actions – Libya.” The e-mail was written hours before the attack was over.
Issa has asked the White House to declassify and release the document. In the meantime he has inserted a sentence from the e-mail in the Congressional Record.
“White House is reaching out to U-Tube [sic] to advice ramification of the posting of the Pastor Jon video,” the e-mail reads, according to Issa.
Asked about the document, a senior White House official told ABC News it demonstrates that the White House genuinely believed the video sparked the attack all along, a belief that turned out to be incorrect.
“We actually think this proves what we’ve said. We were concerned about the video, given all the protests in region,” the official said. And the intelligence community “was also concerned about the video.”
Issa has an entirely different view. He contends the document contradicts the White House assertion that it was the CIA who first pinned blame for the attack on protests in response to the anti-Islamic video.
“The e-mail shows the White House had hurried to settle on a false narrative — one at odds with the conclusions reached by those on the ground — before Americans were even out of harm’s way or the intelligence community had made an impartial examination of available evidence,” Issa said….

Question. Just outta curiosity.
Are *all* female ‘rulers’, as such, always and everywhere – no matter where, in business or anywhere else – ALWAYS oppressive, by definition? Is every female school principal a disaster?
Was Golda Meir an evil, oppressive ruler who should never have been permitted to be PM?
Would you be prepared to publicly agitate for a law that forbade any woman, *anywhere*, to be in *any* position of authority over *any* man? Kinda sorta like the rule that says no dhimmi is allowed to have authority over a Muslim?
You would, of course, have to demand that no woman could become an elected representative (Congress or Senate in US, Parliament in Australia, Canada, UK, NZ).
Hilary Clinton, if elected to POTUS, would be a bad ruler for precisely the same reasons, at bottom, as her husband was a bad ruler and for much the same reasons as her current boss is a bad ruler.
Not because she is female but because she is a badly-brought-up and badly-instructed and, from the looks of it, wilfully evil *human being*.
Or are you convinced that little girls are born *more* naturally sinful than little boys? That even if all humans are sinners, female humans are inherently and extra-specially more sinful than males? That little girls need more spankings, than their brothers?
Kepha says
DDA–I was paraphrasing Isaiah 3:12. My guess is that the prophet was thinking back on the reign of Athaliah of Judah, daughter of Ahab and slaughterer of most of the Davidic family into which she had married.
I realize that as someone from a Commonwealth country, you have the two Elizabeths and Victoria in your political bloodstream (all of whom strike me as eminently honorable), and we in the States have had a few decent female elected officials. If Condoleeza Rice ran for office where I live, I’d probably vote for her. As Christians (or Jews), we all have the Judge Deborah in our bloodstream.
However, I freely admit that I am no sympathizer with the feminist movement, apart from the equal pay for equal work part. It has made men and women rivals in a zero-sum game rather than complimentary, which is what I see as the divinely ordained pattern in marriage. And I’m old enough to remember how, in the Silly ‘Sixties and Sillier ‘Seventies, it followed hard on the heels of the Free Love movement, which left them young men fancy free and the young women stuck with fatherless babies.
Here in the States, our most prominent female leaders at this time are walking advertisements for misogyny. I think not only of Shrillary Shroooo but also the Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Kagan (the last an outright enemy of Free Speech rights).
I also saw a bumper sticker that says “Women who behave seldom make history”. My thought was that women who make history (with a few honorable, mostly Jewish or Christian exceptions) usually go to their graves followed by their countrymen’s curses. Maybe that’s just because I lived in Chinese-speaking Asia too long.
For the record:
1. I most emphatically do not believe that girls are born more depraved than boys. Sin is an equal opportunity thing; I do not believe that males are “more redeemed” (if that is possible) than females, either. Peter says the Christian wives of Christian men are joint heirs of the grace of life. Conversely, I despise the 19th and early 20th century superstition that women are more holy and prone to virtue than men.
2. However, I also believe that male headship in home, church, and state is the “normal” pattern. Yes, Eve first ate the forbidden fruit, but ever since, we’ve been taught, “In ADAM’s fall, we sinned all”. Maybe he should’ve been around to tell his wife, “No, honey–don’t listen to that snake when God has told us otherwise.” Sure, they scream at Paul for mentioning Eve sinning first in I Timothy 2 for mentioning that Eve sinned first, but the same Apostle writes in Romans 5 of the contrast between Adam, through whom came death, and Jesus Christ, through whom came life. They also scream at Paul for saying wives should submit to their husbands (as if being a shrew, a subversive, and a termagent were a good thing), but in the same passage he commands men to love their wives as Christ loves the church–and I’m sure you know are very much aware of how far that went.
3. And I will freely go on record that I am an opponent of ordaining women to the Christian ministry. I think of ordination more as a kind of service and not as some kind of “merit badge” or some kind of spiritual plum that allows the incumbent to say, “nanny-nanny-noo-noo, I’m better than you!” I especially frown on using it as an “anything you can do, I can do better game”. We ignore Paul’s writings on this score to the church’s peril.
4. I think John Knox was a great hero of the faith and Mary Queen of Scots a husband-murdering, dingo in pearls and velvet (Yes, I have actually read _First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women_, as well as Antonia Fraser’s bio of Mary, plus a bit of history on 16th and 17th century Scotland).
5. As a high school teacher who has helped break up fights (and gotten a few bruises in the process), I make the observation that the girls are worse than the boys (maybe related to instincts that are just perfect for defending a baby?). I’ll also note that the turning of our schools into war zones is a fruit of the progressive movement that currently so uncritically cries out for female leadership.
I suppose that the times we Americans are living through now are a time to crack out the books of the prophets and mourn for the ruin of our once great nation.

Muslims think this murderous psychopathology is wonderful and should be applied to every Jew in the world. Your skepticism is understandable but irrelevant when one billion Muslims are not skeptical.

All the scenes in that video are based on Hadith or Quran. Obviously many muslims have never bothered to read about their “prophet” from their own source texts.

Most Arabic speaking Muslims are unable to understand the antiquated and cryptic language in the Quran. The majority of Muslims worldwide do not even speak Arabic (60-80% at a glance), and Islamic doctrine says that translations of the Quran are invalid. There are Muslims who have memorized the Quran front to back, barely understanding a single word. Islam is not a religion for those who think, but a brutish cult expanded through conquest and inheritance.
Peter says
Clinton told family of one of the Benghazi (ben “ghazi”) victims that the administration would go after the video producer. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff calls the Koran-burning minister in Florida to tell him to disassociate himself from the producer. What happened to their oaths of office: “to support and defend the Constitution,” which includes the First Amendment. Shutting down free speech to appease Islamists, who seek the destruction of our way of life and man-made laws (such as the Constitution) amounts to treason.

A little history:
Two years before the story broke about her husband messing around with an intern, Hillary had a Muslim Brotherhood connected intern working for her named HUMA.

How close are Hillary and the MB connected Huma?

The scenes in the admittedly low-budget video accurately portray the narrative in Islam’s source texts. The White House calls the film “anti-Islam”.
Does this mean the source texts are “anti-Islam”?
The maligned low budget video faithfully depicts Mohammed as recorded in the revered Islamic sources. The White House’s opinion?
“We find it disgusting and reprehensible.”

The whole film incident makes me want to grab some news editors and producers by the collars and give them a good shake. It stinks to highest heaven of mistrust of the First Amendment’s Free Speech Clause.
When the story came out, I actually went on the State Department’s website, and under my real name said that I thought the SecState should resign for failing to take a teaching moment to explain the First Amendment to the rest of the world. I would like to think that it had something to do with her sort of tinny-sounding (as opposed to her usual brassy manner) mention of it in a public statement the day after. Better than nothing.

@Sayed (ex-Muslim Egyptian atheist)
Glad you’re here to set me straight. (Now you know that Muslims aren’t the only people who can be sarcastic). And how do you know I’m not Middle Eastern somewhere along the line? America has a lot of survivors of the Seyfo, Armenian and Anatolian horrors and their offspring, ya know, plus all sorts of others who’ve immigrated here and started families which, by the second and third generations, also speak and write decent English. Why, we can’t even count our “Palestinian” population apart from the generation that came here, for the ones who naturalize and their US-born offspring we see as Americans just like everyone else.
Where did I say that women should not be in the work force and exist only to satisfy their patriarchal (a good term in my book) husbands? Where did i say that the Western, post-Christian “atheist” (idolator of self, science, and state, actually), serial polygamist husband is the best example of manhood? Please identify where I said that, if you can?
In my Sacred Books, I read that a husband must love his wife (only one–or am I less than a real man in your book because I’m sexually faithful to my wife?)as Christ loved his church. Keep in mind that we Christians believe that Jesus actually suffered and died on the cross to atone for our sins as the very real prelude to his resurrection from the dead and ascension to rule from heaven. The bit about husbands so loving their wives comes right after the part about wives submitting to their husbands.
As for patriarchy, I feel very very sorry for you that the examples you see are from Islam, where, to us Christians, every sinful lust of the powerful male is indulged. To me, though, “Patriarchs” are men like Abraham who kept together families while wandering the earth with no more land than what they could get to bury their dead, founded families that grew into a nation, provided well, etc. Were I such a man, I would be humbly grateful to Almighty God for such a blessing. And I think our mothers Sarah, Rebecca, Leah, and Rachel felt honored to be wives of such men–or feel so now as they enjoy the presence of God in Heaven.
Having been close to Western feminists (including some from my own extended Ahl/Mishpochah) who have devoted their lives to empowerment, I know full well the bitterness they feel towards the half-men our “liberated”, “progressive”, too-wise-for-God society has given them. But I know as well that at the end of their search for empowerment, they are some of the most unhappy, complaint-ridden, bitter, and nasty people I have ever met.
Oh, yes. Call yourself an atheist and you are so super-wise you are allowed to judge everyone from the set of pre-conceived notions you get from your holy men who never changed their underwear, left the domestic help unpaid (Marx), let out a great black fart of rage at a world which refused to recognize how brilliant they were (Schopenhauer), mistook mere cleverness for wisdom (Voltaire), go bamboozled by Communists at every turn of their lives and ended up blowing their own brains out (Hemingway), and the like.
Your Coptic neighbors have endured a lot longer than either the Muhammadan blasphemy you have abandoned or the Western self-infatuation that is now busily destroying the West from within and leaving it prey to the false cult you have apparently abandoned. I respect them.
