The video above is in support of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, with fans holding up messages of support from around the world — including, apparently, North Carolina. We are constantly told that all the Muslims in the U.S. are supporters of pluralism and democracy, and eschew violent jihad and Sharia — and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a greasy Islamophobe. So how did this Muslim in North Carolina come to misunderstand Islam so severely as to support the misunderstanders of Islam of ISIS? And is anyone looking into where he got this understanding of Islam? If not, why not?
…One of them is apparently an American national, who is pointing (minute: 03:20) with the forefinger as an indication of affirmation of Allah’s Oneness and holding a poster, which reads in mixed Arabic and English the following: “American support of the Islamic State ISIS. North Carolina. USA.”
Two words on the other side of the poster may be read, when flipping the poster horizontally, as “Newport Bar Food”. Newport is a small town in Carteret County, North Carolina.
I don’t think it says “Newport Bar Food.” That looks to me like a carton of Newport cigarettes cut open, with the message written on the back. I think it says “Newport Box 100s.” The sign the ISIS supporter is holding, however, does say “North Carolina USA” at the bottom. So is this man standing in a convenience store in North Carolina, if not in the town of Newport? There is no reason at this point to think otherwise.
