Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Daily Caller proselytizes for Ahmadi Islam as response to The Islamic State

Jun 29, 2014 5:59 pm By Robert Spencer

QasimRashidWould the Daily Caller publish an article entitled “Jesus Is The Cure For The ISIS Crisis,” and calling upon Iraqis and Syrians to convert to Christianity? Of course it wouldn’t. Not only would its multicultural sensitivities forbid it, but the very idea would be absurd. The problem is that this is just as absurd. There are about 10-15 million Ahmadi Muslims in the world, out of over a billion Muslims. The chances of some large-scale conversion of Muslims to the Ahmadiyya is absolutely nil, especially since Ahmadis are widely regarded as heretics and apostates, and are violently persecuted in Pakistan and Indonesia.

So why is the Daily Caller publishing this? Probably because they are so avid to highlight a “moderate Muslim” foe of The Islamic State that they don’t care (and likely don’t know) how risible what Qasim Rashid is saying really is. What’s more, Qasim Rashid is a truly vile human being, full of hatred and venom for the Infidel, and abundantly and repeatedly displaying how much of the general Islamic contempt for the unbeliever carries over into peaceful Ahmadi Islam. He is also repeatedly and relentlessly dishonest, whitewashing the reality of jihad violence and Sharia oppression; lying about the Qur’an’s sanction of taqiyya, the deception of unbelievers; lying about the presence of violent passages in the Qur’an; lying about the Qur’an’s sanction of beating disobedient women; lying about the nature of Sharia; lying about Muhammad’s record of abducting and enslaving women; and calling for limitations on the freedom of speech and expression to outlaw behavior and speech some Muslims may find offensive.

“The Khalifa Of Islam Is The Cure For The ISIS Crisis,” by Qasim Rashid, The Daily Caller, June 27, 2014 (thanks to Maxwell):

We’ve all heard the old adage – those who don’t learn from the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

With the rise of ISIS, the world is at such a crossroads once again, except this time the stakes are much higher and the situation much more dire. In response to ISIS, His Holiness the Khalifa of Islam, Mirza Masroor Ahmad has unequivocally declared, “The actions and statements of ISIS and other extremists who pretend to represent Islam, whilst all the while spreading hatred and violence, run entirely contrary to the peaceful teachings of Islam.”

But ISIS did not come into existence overnight. ISIS is the result of decades of ignoring the lessons of history.

Back in the 1980s, His Holiness’s predecessor Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad warned the world of the rise of Pakistan’s Dictator Zia ul Haqq. Dictator Zia championed death for apostasy and death for breaking blasphemy laws. He empowered those who soon became the Taliban and gave carte blanche approval to the destruction of religious minorities. Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad lectured worldwide, held countless press conferences, and wrote dozens of books and articles demanding separation of mosque and state, championing universal freedom of conscience, and imploring a united front against Dictator Zia’s extremist regime….

For over a decade His Holiness the Khalifa of Islam Mirza Masroor Ahmad has carried on his predecessor’s torch of tolerance and peace, and has responded emphatically against terrorism….

This Ahmadi is clueless, disingenuous, liar, hypocrite and all combined in one. Hasn’t he read his Quran which teaches Muslims to behead infidels, kill Jews and Christians. He hasn’t read the life story of his most excellent ideal man Mo/allah or he would not be asking Muslims to convert to Ahmadia sect . And the Western media( both the libtards and conservatives) is as usual an accomplice to these Muslims.

Muslims of any sect and feathers are not to be trusted ever!!

Yes, he’s practicing Taqiyya and those willing dupes at the Daily Komrade give him a forum to do that. The Warlord Muhammad was the first Islamic jihadist who preferred killing infidels and raping captive women to preaching his religion. Violence is a part of Islam, as Islam is a Religion of War founded by a Warlord.

If more people in the West had some basic grasp of Islamic tenets they could make constructive criticisms about it. One of the things we could do is to propose a vision of society that is based on Judeo-Christian values. We could criticize the imposition of Sharia, supremacism, violent jihad and other noxious elements of Islam that contradict our values, while we call for tolerance and the essential dignity of all human beings.
Instead, we keep relying on crackpot solutions from suspect sources: The Palestinian scam from the Soviets, or the chimera of a moderate Islam from outliers like this guy (or is it outliars?)
One the reasons groups like ISIS are so successful is that they have an overall vision of society that inspires people. We need to propose a better one. That shouldn’t be too hard.

We have a better message than the Muslim fanatics; it’s just that their call to jihad resonates with young, bitter men who long to kill people and rape women. Jihad gives these men an outlet for their base desires, just as Islam gives pedophiles justification for having sex with little girls.

What we need to do is to educate Westerners about the true nature of Islam, jihad, and sharia law. Share Robert Spencer’s videos about Muhammad and Islam with all your contacts and post to facebook and twitter about these videos!

According to the prophet of Ahmaddiya (Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad), the intolerance of the Koran was abrogated in the year 1889.

‘Tolerant’, ‘pristine’ Islam is now available. Problem Sunnis and Shi’ites don’t want it. They prefer the intolerant jihad, rather than the Christianized, ‘Golden-Rule-flavored’ Islam of Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad.

The author of the article is saying that the Khalifa of Islam is for secularism and that he commands no army. Well, he obfuscates by not telling the audience that Muhammad did command the armies and that Muhammad did not support secularism. Where is this Ahmadiya Khalifa of Islam coming from. Is this Khalifa living in the USA and not in Mecca or Medina?

Actually I do think a mass 100% conversion of all Muslims to follow Jesus Christ (in true salvation, baptized and filled genuinely with the Holy Spirit) would solve the problem of Islamic aggression worldwide.

However, the Bible (which I’ve researched extensively including postmodern textual scholarship) as support for my Christian faith indicates that these last days — for what else could they be, from Fukushima to IS, droughts to gang rapists, mass poverty and starvation among billions, Islamic crucifixions, slave trafficking, on and on and on go the horrors — will not include 100% conversions of any groups of people.

I get the excellent point of the article. It’s well-written with pertinent information people who can bear it need to know. May the grace to face the truth be received by more and more every hour (even though it won’t and can’t be 100%).

For anybody open to it, the post-9/11 insanity of normality makes sense viewed through the lens of rational Bible scholarship. If you haven’t come to know and accept Jesus Christ, wouldn’t you sleep better tonight if you knew your salvation were assured? Pascal made an infamous wager at the dawn of 17th century religious skepticism in Europe. As Pascal said, “I should be much more afraid of being mistaken and then finding out that Christianity is true than of being mistaken in believing it to be true.” If you believe too much, you neither win nor lose eternal happiness. But if you believe too little, you risk losing everything.

P.S. Elsewhere on this blog I hope I’ve clarified my respect for God’s original covenant people. There are well-appreciated Mosaic Law and Messianic Jewish congregations in my neighborhood — and the outreach and dispensation of the God of Abraham and Sarah (etc.) started through the Jewish people. Christians are merely grafted into the branch. (Thanks to Yeshua — be praised!)

Although I once favored the bumper sticker, “I follow a Jewish carpenter,” I’ve lately used a different one with a bible verse focused on divine love.

This comment is also because the comments of “jewdog” (ouch but ironic?) above make very good sense. It is the Judeo-Christian values that Islam directly, and by the pages of its Quran written by its pseudo-prophet, sets out to destroy.

The Judeo-Christian God isn’t going to let that happen. The only question is how much suffering we will experience by sociocultural, politically correct but insanely normal Islamist apologetics — or if we can implement the wisdom of the more enlightened Judeo-Christian values and, dare I say it to postmodernists, faith.

I am against the ideology of sharia law, mistreatment of civil rights, and taqiyya that goes on within Islam’s logic. I certainly don’t believe the majority approve of a savage rule with in Islam’s nations. Especially cruel are the terrorists (jihadist’s) among the Islamic ranks. Things like 9-11, honor killings, beheadings, killing others, and whom are taught to kill by the time they are 12 years old, have no place in a civil society.

I believe if there was a simple and safe (long term) underground for apostates, Muslims would leave Islam by the millions then billions. Which would in turn weaken their savageness for ever.

If the U.S. continues on the same foolish and ignorant ways it will destroy itself. For their economy and then their ability to defend itself.

As surely as we are all created by one loving and caring God, we will endure through it all, not through hatred and ignorance, but through wisdom and goodness toward all in world wide.

It should begin by learning the ideology of Islam.

I said (in a Twitter conversation with Robert Spencer) that I’d write a response to this post. The first point made is that Qasim Rashid’s call for a mass conversion to Ahmadiyya Islam is unlikely to have much effect. That’s reasonable, but it doesn’t mean there is anything actively wrong with the post, or the ambition. And in fact, though it is a proselytising piece, I’d say the main thrust was more simply to oppose violent theocratic versions of Islam, not insist on Ahmadiyya Islam as the only acceptable path. I’m not going to evaluate Rashid’s analysis of historical events, but I think his underlying positions – opposition to blasphemy legislation and a call for the separation of mosque and state for example – are welcome. My own main objection to the post is the use of rather tortuous logic in the paragraph beginning ‘However the irony from many Muslim leaders’.
I am not sure why Spencer thinks Rashid is ‘full of hatred and venom for the infidel’ as one of his USPs is his friendly cooperation with atheists (such as Chris Stedman.) Obviously it’s hard to argue with the subjective opinion that he is a ‘truly vile human being’, but it seems an exaggerated response to a pretty peaceable person.
I don’t think the linked to piece backs up the claim that he ‘whitewashes the reality of jihad violence’, although he does seek to demonstrate that such violence is not unique to Islam. He also allows that Qanta Ahmed’s piece ‘may have been well intentioned’, and I think does not want to minimise the problems she describes – indeed many of these problems are ones which exercise him too. Incidentally, I thought Ahmed’s piece was fine. I sympathised with her assertion that:
“These misguided Muslims see themselves as the definitive Muslim, distinct from all others (both Muslims and non-Muslims).”
Spencer implies that he is supportive of Ahmed, and I wondered if he agrees with her analysis that such ‘misguided Muslims’ are indeed not ‘definitive’?
Going on to the ‘taqiyya’ link – many of those who are critical or sceptical of Islam reject the idea that taqiyya is a significant aspect of Islam. It is often pointed out (by ex-Muslims amongst others) that very many Muslims don’t even know the meaning of the word. I don’t think the information about Muhammad appearing to condone deceit in war is sufficient to support the contention that Rashid is being deceitful himself. Of course it’s a circular argument – how can any Muslim ever escape the charge of taqiyya whatever s/he says? This problem is exemplified in Spencer’s mocking headline ‘taqiyya about taqiyya’. Just to clarify – I can easily think of examples of Muslims who are deceitful or at least evasive – but it’s unfair to imply that anyone who says they don’t think Islam condones such lying is deceitful. (To reinforce the point about the doctrine of taqiyya seeming very marginal, and exaggerated in anti-Muslim discourse, I’ll note that other rather more problematic elements/readings of Islam seem much more widely supported, e.g. the death sentence for apostasy.)
With regard to violence and war being encouraged by the Qur’an, I thought Qasim Rashid did a pretty good job of contextualising this in his recent book, carving out a much more peaceful version of Islam than that supported either by extremist Muslims or extreme anti-Muslims. I am not equipped to counter his arguments except with reference to the local logic of the analysis, but as I’m an atheist I am less interested in which is the most persuasive reading of the Qur’an than which Muslim voices, which readings. have most weight. Benign readings of the Qur’an are demonstrably possible (whether or not they are the ‘best’ ones).
I found Rashid’s article about wife beating a bit strained myself, at the time. Again, as I’m an atheist, if Muslims can find ways of interpreting the verses in an unproblematic way, I have no interest in hindering that reading, which is helped along by the fact that the advice in the Qur’an does genuinely seem quite mild when placed in its historical context. Some Muslims seem perfectly happy to see, for example, the ruling about needing two female witnesses, as contingent on circumstances, rather a timeless prescription.
Muslims have different views about the meaning of Shari’ah. Qasim Rashid is certainly not alone in having a more secular take on the issue. Why not just accept that that is their view, and one they personally take to be Islamic, welcome that stance, and focus your energies on the injustices carried out in the name of Shari’ah rather than on views which are part of the solution – or at least harmless?
Rashid offers plenty of evidence that Mohammad’s teachings on slavery were benign for their time, and stresses the significance of the trajectory he encourages, to treat slaves better and to free them, suggesting this was a more practical route than a complete ban. Without finding this a fully satisfactory reading, it is at least compatible with a complete opposition to slavery today, in a context where it is no longer the norm.
The section on sex slavery doesn’t seem very clear to me. I don’t feel Rashid engages fully with the problem. On the plus side I suppose it’s positive that most Muslims, even conservative ones, seem to want to quietly ignore this problem, although some, it must be said, endorse concubinage as an Islamic practice. However, given that Rashid is trying to defend Islam, I cannot say he has fully succeeded here. This site does a rather better job, because it confronts the problem more directly.
    http://www.liberalislam.net/poly
In the Qur’an, polygamy and concubinage are two sides of the same coin. Both represent temporarily permissible practices as society progresses towards the ideal of sexual monogamy. The conclusions reached from our study all point towards this end. It seems that at least in this case, the laws of Muhammad’s community were never intended to be extended beyond their particular historical context. This implication, of course, has immense consequences for the meaning and applicability of “Islamic law” as a whole.
This site also confronts the issue, and softens the Islamic position by suggesting that the Qur’an’s teachings were intended to mitigate an evil rather than encourage it so cannot be used as a reason for reintroducing or strengthening such practices.
    http://www.islamopediaonline.org/fatwa/islam-onlines-discussion-rules-pertaining-slave-concubinage?page=2

“Slavery has been abolished by international conventions, and goes in line with aims and objectives of Islam, as it has called for centuries ago.”

    Here’s another reforming voice:

    http://www.newageislam.com/islamic-society/muslims-must-rise-up-to-fix-sharia-laws/d/87446

The Prophet Mohammad and his companions did indeed practice slavery and concubinage, but they were men of that time. Muslims should seriously ponder the following questions: Do we really need to blindly imitate everything they did in the 7th century Arabia to be just and ethical? Would the Prophet Mohammad, as a true prophet of God, practice slavery and concubinage, if he were to appear in the present age?

Finally, 23.05 minutes in to the documentary ‘When Tommy met Mo’ Usama Hasan from Quilliam very readily and directly engages with this issue.
