ISIS chief to USA: “Soon we will be in direct confrontation, and the sons of Islam have prepared for such a day”

Jun 13, 2014 4:27 pm By Robert Spencer

AbuBakralBaghdadi“The sons of Islam have prepared for such a day”? Surely, if there was ever a time when our sterling moderate Muslim leaders — Faisal Abdul Rauf, Ibrahim Hooper, Nihad Awad, Reza Aslan, Ahmed Rehab, Salam al-Marayati and all the rest of them — to straighten out the many among their coreligionists who misunderstand their peaceful, tolerant religion, it is now. Surely they must be on their way to Mosul now, where they can get a meeting with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi — Dr. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who has a doctorate in Islamic studies from Baghdad University — and explain to him how he is getting Islam all wrong, wrong, wrong.

“ISIS Leader to USA: ‘Soon We Will be in Direct Confrontation,’” by Terence P. Jeffrey, CNSNews.com, June 13, 2014 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

(CNSNews.com) – Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), issued a rare audio message back on January 21 in which he flatly stated his group’s intention to march on Baghdad and move into “direct confrontation” with the United States.

“Our last message is to the Americans. Soon we will be in direct confrontation, and the sons of Islam have prepared for such a day,” Baghdadi said. “So watch, for we are with you, watching.”

When the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on February 5 on al Qaida’s resurgence in Iraq, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran and Iraq Brett McGurk presented written testimony explaining the agenda of ISIS (also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL), and discussed Baghdadi’s audio message to Americans.

ISIL, McGurk said, focuses on “an aim to carve out an Islamic caliphate stretching from Baghdad to Lebanon.”

“ISIL has also made its intentions clear: move from a new base of operations in Fallujah to Baghdad–a distance of under 30 miles,” McGurk said in his written testimony. “Its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had this to say in a rare audio statement issued on January 21: ‘As for ISIS in Iraq: Be in the frontlines against the Shia, and march toward Baghdad and the South, keep the Shia busy in their own areas. Know that the entire Sunni population and the brothers in Syria are watching you.’”

McGurk then noted that Baghdadi went on to conclude his audio statement by issuing a direct threat to the United States. Specifically, Baghdadi said: “Our last message is to the Americans. Soon we will be in direct confrontation, and the sons of Islam have prepared for such a day. So watch, for we are with you, watching.”

“We take such threats seriously and through cooperation with this committee and the Congress, we intend to help the Iraqis in their efforts to defeat ISIL over long term,” McGurk told the committee in his spoken testimony.

The day before McGurk appeared in the Foreign Affairs Committee, CIA Director John Brennan testified at the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s annual hearing on “Worldwide Threats.” Discussing Jabhat al Nusra, which is the al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, and ISIL, Brennan warned that al Qaeda may develop the capability to “use Syria as a launching pad” for attacks on the West, and that al Qaeda already had training camps both in Syria and Iraq where it was developing capabilities that could threaten the West.

“There are three groups of people [operating in Eastern Syria] that are a concern, from an extremist standpoint; Ahrar Asham, Jabhat al-Nusra, which is the Al Qaida element within Syria, and the Islamic state of Iraq and Levant,” said Brennan. “It’s those latter two I think are most dedicated to a terrorist agenda.

“We are concerned about the use of Syrian territory by the Al Qaida organization to recruit individuals and develop the capability to be able not just to carry out attacks inside of Syria, but also to use Syria as a launching pad,” he said.

“So it’s those elements–Al Qaida and ISIL–that I’m concerned about, and especially the ability of these groups to attract individuals from other countries, both from the West, as well as throughout the Middle East and South Asia, and with some experienced operatives there who have had experience in carrying out a global Jihad,” Brennan continued.

“There are camps inside of both Iraq and Syria that are used by Al Qaida to develop capabilities that are applicable, both in the theater, as well as beyond,” the CIA director testified.

House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers asked Brennan: “Do you believe that that ungoverned space presents a real threat to the United States of America, via al Qaida operations, or the West?

“I do,” said Brennan.

On Feb. 2, al Qaeda had issued a statement on inline disassociating itself from ISIL, which had tried to take over al Nusra Front, which al Qaeda had designated as its official affiliate in Syria. In his Feb. 5 testimony, McGurk discussed this break between al Qaeda and ISIL.

“ISIL and al Nusra were both kind of came out of Al Qaida in Iraq,” said McGurk. “ISIL, basically, is al Qaida in Iraq. It’s leader was the al Qaida and Iraq leader since 2010. Nusra was a bit of an offshoot and is focused more on Syria. As you said, there’s now this message, which seems from [al Qaida leader] Zawahiri, saying that ISIL is no longer affiliated with Al Qaida central.”

Al-Baghdadi (who claims lineage with the Prophet) is really telescoping time foward–unless he’s saying, obliquely, that engaging Israel very soonis to engage the United States of America–since, at the present, our administration professes everlasting peace and harmony with Islam.

Remember one thing, Islamic Countries don’t produce anything, no tech, no weapons, nothing.
Here’s what will happen, the West will let the Sunni v Shia thing runs it’s course, then close it’s borders refuse trade and foreign aid to the middle East.
Remove Islam from the West by outlawing it, and Islam because it fails to produce anything will collapse consigning it to history, filed under opps that was embarrassing to human race

With respect, you are being far too charitable towards the muslims. Wherever islam has (or will) go, it will leave those places, their societies and their citizens immeasurably worse than when it arrived. It was created that way from its very inception in the wastelands of seventh century Arabia. [That is the very reason that the barbarians started on their expansionist ambitions throughout the world, continuing up to the present day.]
I agree that should we unite against islam, and an isolated islam will fail under its own contradictions. I only wish I could see where such a strategy could come from. islam has already infiltrated into many western organisations.
Of course that is no reason at all why we should not keep on trying.

It is clear that the Islamists do not understand irony in the least. They reject everything Western, freedom, equality democracy etc. However they love all the goodies the freedom and genius of the West produces, if a world wide caliphate was established the products they need would not doubt be produced by dimmified slave workers , as they are incapable of producing anything but death and destruction
          themselves.

          @salah

I am afraid that you are missing the point in your reply (printed below owing to site limitations) to my comment. That is probably due to the succinct way in which I expressed it. So let me elaborate. We need not only an idea (anybody can have an idea) of how we might achieve our objective of eliminating islam, we need an approach which is viable. Further, what is the absolute key (the where), is that we need people who have the capability (another simplification for now) to actually achieve that objective.
To provide an analogy. The mice had a wonderful idea for protecting themselves from the cat. The problem was that there was noone around willing to put the bell on the cat. So there wonderful idea was worthless.

Likewise, whatever else its value in the overall plan, “returning to our great Judeo-Christian values” is not a strategy for the defeat of islam.
“Saying no …..” [your quote] might be a good idea (like putting the bell on the cat), but who is actually going to implement that tactic. As it stands, I see no-one in a position or with the motivation to achieve this tactic. As it stands, it is no better than pie in the sky.

Like many who wish to see the defeat of islam, I have ideas about how that might be achieved. As I see it now, even if those ideas are viable, there is nobody who can implement those ideas.

The defeat of islam is a totally different objective and in a totally different context to the removal of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt (and its mere replacement by another Islamic state). The comparison proves nothing about the likelihood of the defeat of islam.

As I said in my previous comment, I don’t think we should give up trying defeat islam and I would totally despair if we were to fail. And I would never say that we would certainly fail. Nevertheless, in the current state of my country (UK) and the wider world context, although I have come across many capable people playing a valuable role in the war against islam, I have little confidence that anyone will appear who will be able to provide and implement a successful strategy. That said, noone would be happier than me, if I were to be proved wrong!

In any human endeavor, we must hope for the best, but plan for the worst. All I see at the moment (admittedly from one particular viewpoint) is a lot of wishful thinking and precious little meaningful planning.

Now, please. Somebody prove me wrong. Please.

Mr. Baggydudi knows this all too well, hence his “threat” to confront America which amounts to pure rhetoric. The plot thickens and the modern Hundred Years War seems to be entering a new stage. Well, at least in that first Hundred Years War neither side was evil—–dysfunctional, full of faults, screw-ups and the usual stuff along these lines but at least not wicked in the aggregate.

Different now and with the weapons of war far more terrible. Lots of trouble ahead. The world is smouldrin’ and I catch myself at times wanting to get back to Green River.

This is more than a Hundred Years War — it’s a 1400-Year War. This world war is unique for many reasons:

      1) there has never been an international war that has been waged for this long

      2) there has never been an international war where one side doesn’t even know that the other side is actively waging a war against them

      3) there has never been an international war where the side that doesn’t realize it’s at war actually spends most of its time helping the enemy in various ways (including most importantly ideologically and culturally, through a morbid cultivation of self-criticism)

      4) there has never been an international war where the side that doesn’t realize it’s at war is astronomically more powerful than the enemy who is actively waging war — so much so that it could win the war rather handily.

      And many other unique features.

Well, I did say it was a NEW war, so many of the features you mentioned are accurate. As for it being a 1400-year war, yes Islam has theoretically been at war with the world from its inception, but, let’s face it, Islam until the late twentieth century was essentially asleep since the Ottoman Empire began its decline after failing to take Vienna in 1683. Except for local menaces (like the Barbary Pirates), Islam in the 18th and 19th centuries was hardly a threat to anyone except to its own dismal believers.

If, as an analogy, an enemy begins a war against (what it perceives in its delusional fanaticism to be) its foe in 1800 and wages that war for 50 years; then out of weakness and for no other reason recedes and appears to be no longer waging war — then resumes war 50 years after that when it has begun to reacquire, by a combination of new and old means, various military and paramilitary advantages, it would be reckless folly to say that this is not one continuous war.

Wellington, amigo, so here you are…

          Yep, Phil was right again.

When I was young, a few eons ago, I almost exclusively listened to jazz, but of course couldn’t not hear pop and rock. In the sixties it was as omnipresent as weather. Lot of it I really liked, but seldom would give it attention, focus on and sought it, as I would jazz and classic. Therefore there is almost no pop/rock number whose lyrics I even tried to pick up. The fact that the instrumental and rhythmic section would usually be rather dominant made it difficult. Also I was not very used to the clang of American English and didn’t bother to concentrate on words as I would do when listening to say, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday Nina Simon. Many of the lyrics of the jazz tunes were quite beautiful and it was pleasure remembering them. Think Johnny Mercer, Ira Gershwin, T. Koehler and so many other great American lyricists.
OK, let me now admit it. I whistled and hummed Green River so many times in the past because of its catchy tune and the unique CCR dynamics, but it was only yesterday after Philip’s short note that I googled to its lyrics and, Gosh, was I swept away by the memories of “my own“ Green River! I guess everyone who has been allowed to be a boy and young man, must be stirred by these lyrics. True poetry.
But that was before the onset of the war against boys and men waged by that hideous thing – what’s its name…modern feminism. But that’s for some other occasion…

Thank you so much Wellington and Philip. You really made my day, friends!
          Take good care, you two.

I have a few LP and CD with Rites of Spring and I’d say they are at the same level as the one you sent the link for, but it is the first time I hear it accompanied by video. It is fascinating to watch the “dance” of the conductor, the message he conveys with his body language and the expression of his face. Also, a great orchestra.
I was greatly impressed by the mastery of the person who had edited the raw video submitted to him by the cameramen. His skills are not inferior than of any of the musicians.

I thought crossed my mind as it does every time I hear great music: “they will never be able to, not just play it, but to get and soar with it.”

I hope no one minds that I’m not a guy but I *still* find Green River very evocative.

I was exclusively a city kid, but then when I was a young teen my brothers and I got to spend some time with my dad up in rural northern California, which is actually the location Credence Clearwater Revival was inspired by.

For the first time I got to experience the American River, the Sacramento, the Pit, and the nameless creek that flows though my dad’s land north of Redding—and all the surrounding country.

That’s the great thing about music—how it can be so evocative, and that it can be so for such different experiences.

This is one of the things we would lose if Islam is ever triumphant. Don’t let it go!

Couldn’t agree more. He sure ain’t on the side of any Sunni or Shiite but maybe just maybe He is on our side. You see Islam is at war with anything un-Islamic including us and despite our poor response so far God is still and always will be taking up the cause for those who love and obey Him, against those who hate and revile Him

The more trouble between muzzies, the better for Israel — and the world, by extension. That goes without saying. I hope the US drones and other aircraft rain down magnificent shock and awe on those barbarians, while Shi’ite Iran, on its end, decimates these Sunni savages. Of course, Putin is welcome to join the fight in Syria, and cleans it up of its “insurgents.”

This is true as a rule, Bettina—but Israel’s having a full Shari’ah state on her doorstep is not a good thing.

ISIS is already kidnapping Israeli kids in the “West Bank”:

“ISIS-linked Muslim group takes responsibility for kidnapping three teens, including one American, in Israel”

        http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/06/isis-linked-muslim-group-takes-responsibility-for-kidnapping-three-teens-including-one-american-in-israel

Unfortunately, pious Muslims are not just going after each other here, but after Christians and Jews as well.

Muslims are joyfully chopping off heads and crucifying people in Iraq and Syria today/tonight in an attempt to make Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi the next and final Islamic caliphate who will institute Islamic Sharia law first for the region, and then for the entire world.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is an educated man, and has spent his entire life studying the Qur’an and Muhammad’s Sunnah, and yet it is still considered a virtual crime to criticize Islamic theology in public these days. What suicidal nonsense.

We ex-Muslims living with Islam’s formal and informal death penalty for apostasy know that Muhammad the prophet of Islam is the most evil man to have supposedly ever lived. islam is a completely false and fascist totalitarian ideology

Here is a recent statement from a group of Bangladeshi apostates living in the UK explaining the reasons why they have abandoned Islam:

“One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives (Qur’an 33:50). He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way…

    The statement continues,

Muhammad was a narcissist, like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.”

A very LARGE percentage of Muslims globally still consider Osama bin Laden to be hero for Islam and want to enforce Sharia law on both the Muslims and the non-Muslims alike.

Think about that the next time you see a gay person, or a Jew, or some uncovered female skin, or an infidel apostate…..

Or a statue. Or a painting that shows people or animals or mythical beings. Or somebody walking their cute ol’ pet dog.

Or hear somebody singing and/ or playing music – esp strings or flute.

      Or hear church bells ringing.

all of that is just Not Allowed, by the sharia of Islam.

Any Muslim land that has any kind of representational art, or music and song, has those things not because of Islam but *in spite of* Islam.

But they, on the other hand, will die many, many times over.
      Their hope will be gone.
      Their dreams dead.
      Their souls turned to dust.
And all at the hands of their desert demon.

Before WW2 the “moderate” Nazis would look at the violence of the “extreme” Nazis and say “They are not real Nazis. This thuggish violence wouldn’t happen if Adolf knew about it”.

    Sound familiar?

In the end it was the small percentage of “extreme” Nazis that caused all the problems, aided by the silence of the large numbers of “moderates”.

This is *very* true, No Fear. And it is disturbing how many—diplomats, journalists, and ordinary Westerners—swallowed this tripe ion the years before the war.

You also heard similar things with systematic violence in Stalinist Russia or Maoist China—that none of this was “real” Communism, and it would surely be put a stop to just as soon as the leader heard about it, just as none of the violence in Hitler’s Germany was “real” Fascism.

And now Taqiyy-spewing Muslims are successfully trotting out the same crap, and all too many in the West are naïvely ready to accept the idea that none of this Islamic savagery has anything to do with Islam…

Having lived in Muslim countries as an American and agnostic, especially in India, which is a Hindu nation with a large Muslim population, I notice that these Jihadis are blowhards ( I think that is the word). Constantly making threats and falling at their attempts. We have to be watchful and defensive of our society. However we must create a society which is morally and spiritually higher then your average Muslim nation. Unfortunately when I look at the U.S. I see a lot of confusion, laziness and greed. If we can look at out religious fanaticism and the idea that the world owes us, and move on, I think that we will find the strength to withstand the Muslim threats. Instead of constantly making childish and immature pokes at Mohammed, lets make our own life exemplary. The Jihadis huff and puff. The Shias and Sunnis will battle each other. Lets not go to their level.

      …………………………..

Dennis, I don’t believe it is at all out of line to expose the utter barbarism of Islam’s “perfect man”—so much of the savagery of Islam is based on his actions, which are considered a model for all time.

And while I certainly agree that it should always be a goal to live as exemplary a life as possible, I believe it is also vital to realize that *right now*—warts and all—that the West is morally superior in every way to Islam.

After all, the free West didn’t wait until she was perfect to oppose Fascism—and a damn good thing, too. Whatever shortcomings the West had—and in some cases still has—would it have been better if we had held off opposing Hitler until we could consider ourselves flawless?

This would only be the case if you would not have minded bloody Fascism having been left unopposed…

To Philip Jihadski and thomas_h: Thanks again for the give and take. And yes, PJ, the Rite of Spring is special music—-thanks for the link. As for Green River, the lyrics, I think, approach the profound. With the world smouldrin’ as it is, and with that desultory religion, Islam, playing a major role in this, I think all of us could use getting back to our own Green River from time to time, if only in our mind. Take care, guys.

      Wellington.

What you and the others are doing is the real-life equivalent, psychologically, of what J K Rowling represented, in her fictional world, by the casting of the “Patronus” charm – the “Expecto patronum!” – to ward off the Dementors.

You are summoning up for yourselves, to strengthen yourselves, the memory and truth of pure Joy.

For me it’s represented, perhaps, by the Sanctus from the Faure Requiem. My husband and others sang it together during the Eucharist this Sunday last.

Thanks for your comment, dda. Life is tough enough without Islam but with it——–ugh! There is little to anything more demented than Islam. It’s depressing, destructive, loveless and joyless and so doing things and recalling things from time to time that bring contentment and a sense of the wonder of life are all the more crucial to a life well lived in our age, as you noted. BTW, just about my favorite music is Gregorian Chant. It is a sublime and deeply beautiful musical form and often transports me to a wonderful other-worldly state of mind.

Take care, my Australian friend. Hope all is well you and family.

So the mice don’t bell the cat.
But Islam is outnumbered, human to human.
A way to deal with a bully, who are cowards, is to gang up and front up the bully, but this bully would not take heed of the world if the world said stop, so the next step is the inevitable. But, unlike the mice the humans seem to not be even talking about how to bell the cat, it needs more than belling.
Communication and agreement world wide has got to be, at least.
