The principle is always and everywhere the same: when in Muslim areas, non-Muslims should conform their behavior to Muslim sensibilities. And when in non-Muslim areas, non-Muslims should conform their behavior to Muslim sensibilities. Any other course of action would be “disrespectful,” and that could be lethal.
“Abra requests citizens to respect fasting Muslims,” The Daily Star, June 18, 2014 (thanks to Twostellas):
BEIRUT: The Abra Municipality in the coastal city of Sidon released a memo late Wednesday, urging citizens to respect practicing Muslims during Ramadan and abstain from eating in public.
In his memo, Mayor Walid Nicolas al-Mchantaf stressed the importance of showing consideration during the holy month and refraining from dining at restaurants and cafes during the fasting period, which begins at sunrise and ends at sunset.
Abra is a predominantly Christian suburb of Sidon, but it has a large Muslim community in the town that has been in the spotlight since last year’s deadly clashes between Islamist gunmen affiliated with Sheikh Ahmad Assir and the Lebanese Army.

If you want to know what happened to Lebanon please read Lebanese Christian Brigitte Gabriel’s book “Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America” (2006).
Muslims/Islam have ruined Lebanon, just as they ruin everything. She blames the Muslims’ polygamous over-breeding for the demographic jihad of Lebanon in 1975, as well as their “Kill the Infidels” mass-murder Jihad ideology called Islam.
Islamic jihad and polygamy – both must be eradicated for the sake of civilized people worldwide.

So much as a single sip of water in public by a non-Muslim during Ramadan carries with it an outrageous fine and possible jail time over here in Bahrain. We infidels just had our annual cultural sensitivity brief for this magical time of year, and as in years past, they spelled out for us exactly how to behave like good little dhimmis.
Always nice to be reminded that “respect” and “tolerance” is a one-way street.

I used to live in Fahaheel. I would wander the streets at 02:00 wearing a M65 field jacket, jeans and a shemagh in red and white. At 6′ 1″ and 220 pounds wandering about a Palestinian area I probably looked more like a fighter than a westerner, but if it works then it works. It was the best way to get a bottle of whiskey around without risking a taxi.
I was on a day off when the news that Osama had been potted and sent to feed the fish hit. I spent that day on the beach getting a tan in shorts.
I have American colleagues who were inducted into Kuwait and made to believe that Al Qaeda was waiting for them in briefings just like the one you suffered. The British contingent got told that getting drunk would be a bad idea.

Every year, my wife, who works in the UK NHS, has emails from managememt telling them not to eat or drink in front of muslim patients or staff, as it would be “offensive”.

Yes—the creeping dhimmitude is appalling.

Christian sects allow the infirm, aged, and young to be exempt from fasting. Guess Al’lah is not as merciful as we’ve been led to believe.

I remember when I was a working teacher, some Libtard moron on the staff suggesting it would be ‘respectful’, and ‘considerate’ for the rest of us not to eat our packed lunches, or drink, in front of ”fellow staff who are fasting for ramadan”.
I don’t honestly remember whether she did this off her own bat, or whether the mohammedans prodded her into it, but I do remember telling her to get stuffed.
I also said something along the lines of; ”When Christian members of staff have given up chocolate for Lent, will you be respectful and considerate and not chomp your Mars bar in front of them ?”
I don’t remember what she replied, if anything.
Jaladhi says
Oh yeah, you have to always respect these scumbags with no morals or values. Screw them and eat and drink and be merry during Ramadan!!
Reality Check says
So, an entire Christian suburb should go hungry from sunrise till sunset because the Muslims wouldn’t eat? Welcome to the world of submission to Islam – the most demanding, intolerant, one-sided and bigoted religion ever.
Uri says
Not hungry – but don’t eat in public.
Anyway, muhammadans are modern day Pharisees
Jesus:
“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting.
Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” – Matthew 6:16-18 NASB
wolf says
And that is why Jesus was an apostate. He directly contradicted the biblical injunction where God demands that people who are fasting should afflict themselves by not washing or anointing their bodies and refraining from all food and drink.

Lebanon: Christians in predominantly-Christian suburb told to “respect Muslims,” not eat or drink in public during Ramadan
In his memo, Mayor Walid Nicolas al-Mchantaf stressed the importance of showing consideration during the holy month and refraining from dining at restaurants and cafes during the fasting period…
……………………….
Interesting—while “Walid” is a common Muslim name, *Nicolas* certainly is not…
Chances are that this memo came from a *Christian* mayor.
In which case, the question is this—has the mayor internalized the dhimmified fawning “respect” due to Muslims from Infidels, or is this directive more about his fears for the Christian populace from violent Muslims if they *don’t* show such “respect”?
This may provide a clue:
Abra is a predominantly Christian suburb of Sidon, but it has a large Muslim community in the town that has been in the spotlight since last year’s deadly clashes between Islamist gunmen affiliated with Sheikh Ahmad Assir and the Lebanese Army…
……………………….
Even though Abra is Christian-majority, it has become a flash point in the ongoing Sunni/Shi’ite conflict, and Assir has accused Christians of “apostasy”—this is ostensibly about Christianity, but is probably more about which Muslims they are perceived to be supporting.
After all, in neighboring Syria Christians are being slaughtered by Sunni Jihadists, in part because they are assumed to be supporters of the slightly-less-genocidal-in-this-case Shi’ites and Alawites
The upshot is that Sidon and Abra are crawling with Jihadists and Jihad supporters looking for any reason to target Christians.

Am I the only one here who finds it ironic that a group of people who think America should be ruled by the bible are offended that that a primarily Islamic country is asking people to respect Islamic religion?
Now all of a sudden you care about religious freedom?
Mohammed Waza Asswad says
Yes, such irony. But the point is not what Christians, Jews, Buddhists or Hindus etc are or are not doing, which is rarely if ever at the expense of others – but what muslims do and demand of others – especially when those same muslims are not even living in a uslim society.
Foolster says
“Am I the only one here who finds it ironic that a group of people who think America should be ruled by the bible are offended that that a primarily Islamic country is asking people to respect Islamic religion?”
It’s ironic – Don’t you think? Yes, this “John Bell” has the Alanis Morissette definition of “Ironic” down. Of course, never mind that there are only 1, maybe 2 Christians who’ve I’ve ever seen make any sort of supremacist Christian statements here. They are not taken seriously by other Christians here.
Meanwhile every day devout Muslims impose their blasphemy laws and subjugate and murder non-Muslims. It’d be nice if John Bell would stop trying to distract people with straw man ad honim attacks on Christians and focus on the actual problem – Islam.
RodSerling says
John,
Correct me if I’m wrong, but in your comment you appear to make at least two assumptions:
1. JW readers (or at least commenters) as a group, by and large, think the U.S. should be ruled under Biblical law and government.
2. The group assumed in #1 does not care about religious freedom in general, it only “suddenly” cares when the freedoms of Christians are affected.
If these are your assumptions, can you provide evidence for them?
Twostellas says

I’m going to cross-post something really arresting that was posted in the comments to a blog post by one of my favourite bloggers – a feisty (and totally Islamo-aware) Israeli Jewish cat-lady.
She was drawing attention to the boasting and threats by the jihad mobsters in Iraq, the so-called ISIS.
Here’s the item:

And here’s the Comment, by a Jewish Englishwoman. Note, well, the *time* when the events she describes, in an English primary school with a Muslim *minority*, took place.

“Sweetie, I had an inkling that things were going this way round about 1985 when a new Head Teacher took over at Katy’s junior school.
“**There were only about 20 Muslim children in the school out of about 300, but one of the fathers basically intimidated first the other Muslim parents, and then the oh so politically correct new head.** {my emphasis – dda}.
“Initial request was for the Christmas Fayre to be renamed Winter Fayre,
“then no visit from Father and Mrs Christmas (my Jewish parents in fancy dress for whom this had become an annual treat),
“then no Nativity Play,
“Carol singing, [ie. no carol singing – dda]
“and finally, the Christmas tree to be in a corner of the hall, not on the stage.
“This school represented the very best of multiculturism and inter religious communication.
“The pupils were truly citizens of the world, and men of many cloths visited the school and invited the children to visit the House of G-d where they preached.
“A group of parents representing the other faiths [I would assume Christianity, Judaism, Hindu and Sikh – dda] saw the Head and asked him to continue with the traditional ‘English’ school Christmas, and eventually a compromise was reached.
“The year after Katy left for Senior school, Christmas left too.
“By 1989, I could see the writing very clearly on the wall, but most people thought there would be no change, and that I was paranoid.
i wish that they had been correct.” END.
As in a – majority-Christian – suburb in Sidon in 2014, so also in…a **majority-non-Muslim** English primary school, probably somewhere in London, in the **1980s**.
Common factor: Muslim megalomania and obsessive desire to dominate and trample upon everyone and everything not-Islam.
Richado says
Compared and contrasted with authentic Christian times of fasting (especially Orthodox Christian), the Muslim Ramadan fast is no fast.
All day they don’t eat or drink, and we have to know about it. But after sundown they simply pig out. Not only hypocritical but bad for the digestive system when you overeat at night. Technically they can eat all night-feasting- then come morning put their mournful looks on and we have to feel sorry for them and accommodate them.
The Christian fast from the NT is based on prayer and fasting IN SECRET. No showing off. The fast is not the end but a means of prayer, and if you are fasting, and someone offers you food during the fasting time, you must accept out of charity. Why? For Christ declared all foods clean and said that nothing should be rejected if it is received with gratitude (Mark 7:19; 1 Timothy 4:1-5). Charity first, fasting second.
In Islam the fasting is for showing off, to draw attention to oneself. This is forbidden in Christian fasting. In fact, this would nullify the Christian fast if practiced like the Muslims do. Above the fast in Christian circles is to be done by all but at one’s own discretion and ability. It is not forced and policed.
Elise says
It appears that most Muslims have no ability to say no to temptation, whether it is watching others eat during times of fasting or the lust they feel when they see an uncovered woman’s face or body. They are the most undisciplined people without the threat of their fake God and prophet. They are unable to handle freedom because they have no self control unless they are threatened by their religion. As long as the majority are illiterate and ignorant they will remain believers in nursery rhymes from Hell.
JeffS says
How about Muslims show their multicultural sensitivity by encouraging us to eat in front of them during Ramadan, you know, all in respect for our charming customs.
