“‘They are not excused for being non-Muslim,’ it said, adding that ‘anyone living in this country should follow the laws of the Kingdom, including respecting religious sentiments.'” When Jews or Christians fast, they do not demand that others around them also fast, or refrain from eating in their presence. This is, in other words, a supremacist declaration.
“Ramadan 2014: We Can Deport Anyone Who Eats, Drinks or Smokes, Saudi Arabia Tells Non-Muslims,” by Gianluca Mezzofiore, International Business Times, June 26, 2014 (thanks to all who sent this in):
Saudi Arabia has threatened to deport any non-Muslim foreigners who don’t respect the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan by eating, drinking or smoking in public.
An interior ministry statement on the official SPA state news agency urges non-Muslim expatriates in the kingdom to “respect the sentiments of Muslims by not eating, drinking or smoking during Ramadan’s daylight hours in public places, including roads and workplaces.”
Those who violate the regulations will be deported or sacked, according to the statement.
“They are not excused for being non-Muslim,” it said, adding that “anyone living in this country should follow the laws of the Kingdom, including respecting religious sentiments”.
The statement also asked companies to transmit the instructions to their employees.
Millions of Muslims from around the globe are preparing to observe Ramadan, the religious month of fasting.
For 30 days, they will not eat or drink from sunrise and sundown and refrain from sexual intercourse, smoking or profanity in a bid to become closer to Allah.
They are also encouraged to give back to the community and take part in charitable deeds.
Saudi Arabia applies a strict version of sharia law and it hosts more than nine million foreigners….

Go to the SPA site. Type in ‘ramadan’ in the search box. There you will find the edict from the Interior Ministry, ordering all non-mohammedans not to eat or drink in front of ‘fasting’ mohammedans, on pain of being fired from theor jobs, and deported.
So what are you trying to pull, ‘paladin’ ? Are you telling us that the Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry is lying through its teeth ? The **King** is lying ? It’s all a misunderstanding, or a joke ?
Bugger off.

Thanks for your first-hand account, Philip. Ramadan in Saudi Arabia sound like hell on earth.
I did a little digging and found this. It was posted to the internet five days ago…I *think* before the menacing edict was issued by the SPA:

Note how it comes across as rather “tentative” (that is, subject to change).
I think it safe to assume Ramadan 2014 isn’t going to be nearly as flexible as past Ramadan observances.
How in the world does Saudi Arabia intend to enforce these bizarre restrictions? Ramadan police squads?

Reality Check quoted Islamo-aware:
“I only brought up your grammatical error because you seem so full of yourself when you’re rectifying the spelling mistakes all too often made by muzzie fuckwits.”
And noted:
So you have something against those who criticize the poor English of the poor Muslim trolls with confidence. Interesting.
That was an interesting glimpse into the mind of Islamo-aware. Most curious. Let’s hope the most charitable explanation — that he has too much time on his hands — suffices.
More broadly, I hadn’t been all that aware of Islamo-aware until now. I notice, in this exchange of silly pedantic needlessly hostile exchange he is having with Reality Check, that Islamo-aware seems to be an alumnus of the Philip Jihadski School of Discussion Forum Etiquette, with a Minor in Leaping on Minor (Supposed) Mistakes and then Escalating that in an Adolescent Way (with special studies for which he took the short bus at the Remedial College of Hot-Tempered and Coarse Irascibility and Pointless Chest-Thumping Bravado, where he excelled summa cum loudmouth at Wasting Readers’ Time with Useless Attacks on Fellow Anti-Islam Crusaders).
voegelinian says
correction to my post:
“in this exchange of silly pedantic needlessly hostile exchange he is having with Reality Check” — a typo, of course (as opposed to an actual grammatical error): excise the first “exchange” (where’s one’s temporary secretary when one needs one…?).

Reality Check says
Voegelinian,
Thank you so much for your kind defence. No, I don’t have a blog about Bulgaria and Islam, so thank you for giving me such a good idea. I’ll think about it! 🙂
If you want to see some high-quality pictures of Bulgaria, click the link below. It is a Christian country, so you’ll see many Christian churches and cathedrals. Unfortunately, you may also see some mosques which are the sad reminder of the 500 years that the Turkish Muslims spent here as masters. Now they want some of their mosques back because they want to make them active again (we have turned them into museums) but so far they have had no success – the street demonstrations staged by the Bulgarians were such that the Muslim clerics who made the request crawled back into the hole they came out of too soon.

Oh, and by the way, Islamo-aware was incorrect in his initial salvo that started all this:
“Actually, it’s more grammatically correct to say their poor spelling always gives them away.”
That correction by Islamo-aware should be eternally showcased in the dictionary under the definition for “pedantic”. It’s an exquisite example of it. In fact, Reality Check’s original locution was perfectly fine, both “grammatically” and semantically. In a subtle way, it was better. (I did note a subsequent orthographic lapse on Reality Check’s part, but unlike Islamo-aware, I’m not obsessed enough to shine a spotlight on negligible blemishes.)
voegelinian says
Thanks Reality Check. Also if one just types in “bulgaria” into Google Images, literally hundreds of photos come up. Though it’s a more random sample, it can be more interesting. I hope you seriously consider a blog. The fact that you are Bulgarian and that you are interested in Jihad Watch and the problem of Islam would, by itself, make your blog worthwhile. I.e., you don’t have to be an “expert” or marshal all sorts of data; merely writing about your impressions on the subject from your experience and knowledge would be enough, I’d say.

Saudi Sharia Law isn’t true Sharia law. It is corrupt, because all power always corrupts. Unfortunately they also own the holiest sites in the religion, which gives them almost a free pass. Even if someone disagrees with Shariah law in the religion, they will keep it to themselves. Either way, it’s just another set of laws, in a country. You don’t have to visit it, or live there. Every country has their own despicable actions, the US is not an innocent hand in this world.
Islam is about tolerance, and the Saudi government doesn’t seem like they are. Most Muslims I have met are very tolerant and modern people. There’s no reason to deport, and cost someone their job because they don’t want to follow our religion. IMO, the kind thing to do, especially during Ramadan, would be to give them somewhere private to eat. Great PR Saudi Arabia.
Angemon says
“Islam is about tolerance”
Of muslims, not of non-muslims…
“Most Muslims I have met are very tolerant and modern people.”
And that’s a classic blunder a lot of people do. Someone says “islam” and they think “muslims”. What islam says is one thing, what muslims do is another thing, and there’s a wide specter of adherence to islam, ranging from people calling themselves muslims but who couldn’t tell the difference between the quran and the 1001 Nights to people who memorized the quran in arabic, dress like muhammad, grow their beards, pray 50 times per day and demand full submission from non-muslims. So you can’t say, for example, that islam is all about tolerance because most – not all, most – muslims you met are tolerant and modern. Islam is as islam says, and islam certainly is not tolerant of non-muslims.
Mirren10 says
”Saudi Sharia Law isn’t true Sharia law. It is corrupt … ”
Really ? In that case, would you care to explain why it is, that every mohammedan country, that espouses sharia, from Malaysia, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Yemen, the Maldives, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, et al, all thousands, or hundreds of miles apart, carries it out in the exact same way ?
Amputations for theft, stonings and floggings for adultery, death for apostacy, death for homosexuality ?
It’s a real puzzler, all right.
”Islam is about tolerance … ”
Oh, please. If you’ve come to this site just to spout drivel about islam being a ‘religion of peace’, and ‘tolerant’, you’re wasting your time. We’ve read the koran, we know what it says about Christians and Jews, and other non-mohammedans. That cat leapt out of the bag a while ago.
**We’ve read the koran**. Get it ?
”Most Muslims I have met are very tolerant and modern people. There’s no reason to deport, and cost someone their job because they don’t want to follow our religion.”
You’re not a very clever dawa artist, are you ? You gave yourself away, right there. First you say, ”most Muslims I have met”, implying you are not a mohammedan, and then you blow the gaff by saying; ”because they don’t want to follow **our** religion”.
”IMO, the kind thing to do, especially during Ramadan, would be to give them somewhere private to eat. Great PR Saudi Arabia”
As I’ve said in another post, all this proves is that you mohammedans are so weak in purpose and faith, that it shatters it when you see non-mohammedans eating and drinking in front of you, when you’re ‘fasting’ during the day (but stuffing like fattening bacon pigs from sunset to sunrise).
”Great PR Saudi Arabia”
Yes, that’s what is really getting your goat, isn’t it ? The fact that Saudi Arabia has shot itself in the foot by exposing the farce of ramadanadingdong, and made mohammedans **look bad**.
But why should you mind about that ? Your co-religionists are busy working their bloody hands off, making mohammedans look bad, in Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, the Levant …
As Abraham Lincoln famously said, in another context; ”you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time.”
We know about you now.

Their country, their rules. The problem is when we in the West start kowtowing to “islamic sensibilities” and start, let’s say, telling people that they shouldn’t eat, drink or smoke in public during ramadan because that would “offend” muslims.

BTW “John Stephenson”, it’s “than”, not “then”. “Than”, with an “a”, it’s for comparison. “Then”, with an “e”, it’s for sequence.
Comparison: MERS is much more prevalent in Saudia Arabia than in any given Western country because saudis drink camel piss, according to muhammad’s teachings.
Sequence: Muhammad wrote the marriage contract when Aisha was six then raped her when she was nine.
Got that?

Poor John’s anger may have something to do with the possibility that he cannot find a girlfriend in Saudi Arabia because women in SA are as scarce as hen’s teeth. Either way, he’s a loser, so he’s looking for some “islamaphobes” to vent his sexual frustrations. 🙂

Also, anyone who considers SA to be more civilized than most in the west needs to be on all kind of possible threat lists. I’d say saudis wipe their asses with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but they probably prefer to use stones, following muhammad’s example. You know, because stones are more hygienic and stuff.
That, and because a large chunk of saudis probably can’t afford toilet paper.

I just went to the SPA site, and found this:
Jeddah, Sha’ban 28, 1435, Jun 26, 2014, SPA — An Interior Ministry statement issued today stated that non-Muslim expatriates in the kingdom should respect the sentiments of Muslims by not eating, drinking or smoking during Ramadan’s daylight hours in public places, including roads and workplaces.
The ministry warned that those who violated the regulations will have to face deterrent punishments such as deportation or sacking.
The statement added that eating and drinking openly during the daylight hours of the month of Ramadan are seen as an embarrassment to Muslims, as abstaining from foods and drinks are one of the visible features of Ramadan since fasting was made obligatory to Muslims centuries ago.
“Being a non-believer of Islam does not exempt an expatriate from being inconsiderate of the feelings of Muslims and the Islamic symbols of this country,†the ministry said.
The statement also said that the ministry hoped workers would honor the terms of their work contracts, which stipulate that anyone living in this country should follow the laws of the Kingdom, including respecting religious sentiments.
The statement also asked companies and establishments to explain these instructions to their employees.

In addition the flying school where they trained had been bought a year prior by a cousin of a Saudi prince.
Not only that, but the flying school had other students enrolled who were also from Saudi Arabia – a few dozens of them all from Saudi Arabia and none from anywhere else.
Not only that, but the Saudi financial backers of the flying school fled the country about a week before the 9/11 assault on us.
The fact that this administration is against Saudi trained terrorists and is in favor of Iranian trained terrorists misses the point however important it is.

Absolutely correct. Muslimes have no concept whatever of sacrifice except sacrificing other for their own advancement. Fasting in my book is abstaining totally for the given period. Fasting in their minds is simply a shift of the hours for consumption be it food, drink or women, and during Ramadamnation they actually consume more food and drink than normal. But then again the outside world doesn’t see this “cheap cheat” so they can’t be vilified for their outright hypocrisy . Worse still is the fact that schools and employers are obliged to make adjustments for these twats because they get fatigued due to… lack of food during the day? NO! They’ve been up all night stuffing their faces……..that’s why they are tired.
As you say Mirren, they have borrowed and twisted this concept from Judaism and Christianity as with everything else they do, but have distorted all so much that what was good becomes evil and sinister. They and their ideology are a total SHAM.

If a Christian decides to give something up during Lent, they give it up. Cold turkey. Day *and* night.
Decide to forgo the Internets? Then it’s offline you are, day and night, for 40 days.
Decide to give up tea, or coffee, or that evening glass of wine, and redirect the money to the poor and needy? – Then it’s *given up*, throughout the entire period.
Christians don’t “fast” by day and feast by night; they fast, full stop. So, of course, during Lent they *do* eat and drink, to sustain life…but in moderation; and depending on their tradition, and personal discretion, they will examine their lives and decide what they can do without…*altogether*. And they are supposed to do it *without* making a big show of how much they’re giving up and suffering. In fact, they’re supposed to do it *cheerfully* and *not* go about with a long face looking miserable and expecting people to pity them and be impressed by their self-denial.

Actually muslims too who are excused from fasting are not allowed to eat in public”
Actually, yes, it is a **damned** sight too much to ask. Non- muslim foreigners who **work** in SA, work during **daylight** hours. Are they supposed to scuttle off home during the working day, if they want some lunch, or a drink of water ?
I have a question; perhaps you can answer it. Why is it mohammedans are so weak in purpose, that they can’t bear it if anyone else drinks or eats in front of them during this ridiculous fiasco ?
Christians who fast, or give up something for Lent, don’t demand that others not eat and drink in front of them. They don’t issue screaming official orders that those who do, should be fired from their jobs and deported !
Do you think that’s because Christians who fast for Lent, are more sincere in their purpose, and therefore don’t feel threatened by those who choose not to practice Lenten fasting, and don’t feel hard done by, if they are fasting whilst others eat ?
But mohammedans insist that **others** are forced to follow their stupid Ramadan rituals, because they feel **hard done by** if others eat/drink in front of them, and by Golly, they won’t stand for it ! mohammedan supremacy in action.
Do Jews who fast for Yom Kippur, demand that others around them don’t eat or drink ? No, they don’t. Do they scream orders that anyone eating and drinking during Yom Kippur should be fired from their jobs, and deported ? No, they don’t.
Why not? For the self same reasons that Christians don’t.
Because both Jews and Christians who practice fasting have enough confidence in their faith and themselves, that they don’t **need** to behave like screamy little two year olds, who because they can’t have the cake with icing, demand no-one else should have any cake at all.
It is only **mohammedans** who behave like this. And why ? Two reasons; one, the arrogant supremacism that teaches them they are ‘the best of peoples’, and two, a nagging, subconscious realisation that the whole Ramadan thing is a monstrous farce and sham. As is their whole ‘religion’.
Muhammad Saeed Malik says
During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking.
Muslims are called upon to use this month to re-evaluate their lives in light of Islamic guidance. We are to make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family and friends, do away with bad habits — essentially to clean up our lives, our thoughts, and our feelings. The Arabic word for “fasting” (sawm) literally means “to refrain” – and it means not only refraining from food and drink, but from evil actions, thoughts, and words.
During Ramadan, every part of the body must be restrained. The tongue must be restrained from backbiting and gossip. The eyes must restrain themselves from looking at unlawful things. The hand must not touch or take anything that does not belong to it. The ears must refrain from listening to idle talk or obscene words. The feet must refrain from going to sinful places. In such a way, every part of the body observes the fast.
Therefore, fasting is not merely physical, but is rather the total commitment of the person’s body and soul to the spirit of the fast. Ramadan is a time to practice self-restraint; a time to cleanse the body and soul from impurities and re-focus one’s self on the worship of God.

And what better way to practice self-restrain than forbidding people of eating and drinking in front of muslims?

What a load of ridiculous, self deceiving, mendacious crap.
”During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours.”
But from sunset till sunrise, you all gorge and stuff yourselves like a bunch of Strasbourg geese. Oh yeah, that’s really ‘spiritual. There have been numerous studies and articles that show the majority of you idiots actually **gain weight** during ramadanadingdong, because you spend the entire night pigging out, and traipsing round each others houses to pig out some more.
*Spiritual* ?? What a load of shite. 🙂 🙂
And if Ramadan is a time to practice **self-restraint**, why haven’t you got the determination to do it by **yourselves**, instead of demanding that non-mohammedans don’t eat and drink in front of you ?
What a bunch of self deceiving wankers you all are.

@Muhammad Saeed Malik
you are correct about one thing.
Muslims try to present an image of piety in Ramadan’s daylight, yet this dutiful from outward to inward display can never last past the scrutiny of the light of day, for inside of every Muslim is an unfilled emptiness that comes from the knowledge that Islam was made only for DISPLAY.
The goodness imposed by Islamic DUTY can never last because it is merely external. That painful emptiness that all Muslims feel is Islam rotting from within.

Right—and that’s why Ramadan is the most violent of times in Dar-al-Islam—because what is more Islamic than oppression and bloodshed? *Ugh*.

Wrong, mohammedan moron.
Here at Jihad Watch, most of us know a **great deal** about your spurious and farcical ‘religion’.
We’ve read your repulsive koran, your hadiths, and we know about the vicious, evil career of your revolting paedophile prophet, mo.
And even if I hadn’t read one word of your so-called ‘sacred’ texts, watching the news, listening to it, and seeing the evil atrocities perpetrated by mohammedans every day, across the world, would tell me everything I need to know about your evil sham of a ‘religion’, and everything I need to know about those who practice it.
islam is as islam does, and as your koran mandates that you do.
No, what’s pissing you off, is the fact that very few of us are buying into your pathetic attempts to market your cult as a ”religion of peace”. The cat is out of the bag, the horse has left the stable. We know too much.
”hatefull (sic ) comments” ?? No. What gets up your nose, and you know it, is the comments are all **true**. islam can’t stand up to scrutiny, and the light of day. You can’t stand the fact that islam is now exposed for what it is, a ridiculous, farcical, sham cult of violence and evil, made up out of whole cloth by a desert madman who wanted to sacralise his own evil desires, and make lots of money.
And you’ve all fallen for it. What a bunch of idiotic wankers you all are.
Go to hell with your foul ‘religion’, your foul koran, and your foul ‘prophet’.

Really, voegelinian, sometimes you can be insufferable.
You are a fine one to talk about Mr Jihadski !
” … Philip Jihadski School of Discussion Forum Etiquette, with a Minor in Leaping on Minor (Supposed) Mistakes and then Escalating that in an Adolescent Way ”
Have you forgotten, so soon, your comments to Ashley ( and myself, but I’m not bothered 🙂 ) on the Calgary Prof thread ?
What was that, but an example of **you** ”leaping on Minor (Supposed) Mistakes and then escalating that in an Adolescent Way” ?
You do this sort of thing **frequently**, voegelinian, because you are obsessed with the idea that you are the **only** one here who truly ‘gets’ it about islam and mohammedans. You **often** pull people up on ‘minor, supposed mistakes’, and castigate them for being JW ‘Softies’, simply because they disagree with you on various points.
As Wellington noted, you make it very difficult sometimes, to consider you as an ally.

”Wasting reader’s time with useless attacks on fellow anti-islam crusaders”.
Well, that’s *exactly* what you’re doing here, mate. You seem to have it in for Mr Jihadski, because he challenges what you say. What you would seem to prefer is that we all nod our heads sagely over your pronouncements, and castigate ourselves for not adhering to your version of the JW Index ( as written by yourself).
” … the Remedial College of Hot-Tempered and Coarse Irascibility and Pointless Chest-Thumping Bravado, … ”
Oh boy, do you need to take a look in the mirror ! Mr Jihadski’s **style** is what you don’t like. (but **I** do). And I disagree with your description of his style; *I* find it refreshingly outspoken, and to the point.
*Your* style is all too often condescending and arrogant towards others, and as I’ve observed to you before, you are too fond of long words, and convoluted sentences, for *my* taste. But it **is** a matter of taste.
Sorry, voegelinian, but I think you need to get over yourself. Everyone has a different mode of expressing themselves, and that doesn’t obviate anything germane and to the point, that they have to say.
I think you owe Mr Jihadski an apology. Nothing he said to you warranted that rather vitriolic outburst. You owe Ashley an apology, too.
