Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Texas: Man told to take down his US flag, as it’s “a threat towards the Muslim community”

Jun 19, 2014 8:58 am By Robert Spencer

It’s a time-honored principle: when in Muslim countries, you must conform your behavior to Muslim sensibilities. And when in non-Muslim countries, you must conform your behavior to Muslim sensibilities. This is the kind of thing that only happens in nations that have lost their confidence and their way, are vulnerable to any action of their enemies, and in imminent danger of destruction.

“Man says apartment complex called his US flag a ‘threat to Muslim community,'” by Alice Barr, KHOU 11 News, June 18, 2014 (thanks to Robert):

WEBSTER, Texas — A Webster man says his apartment complex manager told him his American flag was a “threat to the Muslim community,” and that he has to take it down. But he’s not giving up without a fight.

Stepping onto Duy Tran’s balcony in Webster, one thing is clear: “It means a lot to me,” he said.

He’s talking about his American flag that he proudly put up when he moved in just a few days ago. But then an apartment manager at the Lodge on El Dorado told him he had to take it down.

“What really stunned me is that she said it’s a threat towards the Muslim community,” said Tran. “I’m not a threat toward anybody.”

We tried to ask a manager if that’s exactly what was said, but she just handed us a statement, refused to answer any questions, and called an officer to escort us off the property, before we could press any further:

“While the Lodge on El Dorado admires our resident’s patriotism, we must enforce our property rules and guidelines. Such guidelines maintain the aesthetics of our apartment community and provide for the safety of all residents. The apartment community already proudly displays our country’s flag in a safe and appropriate manner at the entrances to our community.”

But we saw other patriotic symbols hanging from other balconies in the complex, and Tran doesn’t plan to budge.

“I’m gonna leave my flag there, as an American, until she shows me proof that I don’t have the right to leave my flag there,” said Tran.

To Tran it’s about so much more than stars and stripes.

“I have friends that died for this country,” he said.

So he says this fight is the least he can do.

We have not heard of any residents complaining about any flags at the complex, or any of the patriotic items we saw. In fact, we spoke to several neighbors who say they want Tran’s flag to stay.

    Islam is about imposition.
Muslims plant their noses to the floor when they pray so they can fill their hearts with Islam’s deceitful hate.

Gazing upward during prayer is not allowed in Islam.
This is only to have as an excuse to butcher knife a non-Muslim who does.

Hang on. Since the “vast majority” of US muslims are law-abiding citizens, who reject Sharia in favour of the American constitution (according to the political elite)where does this “complex manager” get the idea that an American flag is a “threat to the muslim community”? Must be an Islamophobe……

Amazing how all across the country first amendment rights are being violated because it “offends” certain communities. Wear an American flag t-shirt on Cinco De Mayo and get sent home from school. Fly an American flag on your property and get told to take it down. This is not the America I grew up in or served in the Marine Corps for. If people don’t like our patriotism, they can go back from where they came from!

Let me see if I understand this article. The manager said the “Muslims” were offended. Which Muslims? There are 1.6 billion, yes that is a B, in the world. Actually Indonisian has the highest number of them, so what would they hope to gain by coming to another country and complaining about the flag? And if there are other flags up, why can’t the American flag be up to? It just doesn’t add up.

This sounds like a bored apartment manager who has nothing but time and a desire to spread hate in the world. If she had proof that 1.6 billion people are all simultaneously offended by this guys’s flag, she needs to produce a name. Otherwise this article isn’t worth the wifi it’s wasting.

When one understands the Muslim community, the “danger” and “threat” of the United States Flag, what it represents, the Brave heroes who have died for what it represents and the challenge it presents to the Sharia of Jihad’s diabolical mandate to Conquer and subjugate all to their god of the moon and star, why, then Yes, the Flag is a threat. Hence, every single American should demonstrate their allegiance to the Constitution by flying at least one flag in their designated residences.

“This is the kind of thing that only happens in nations that have lost their confidence and their way, are vulnerable to any action of their enemies, and in imminent danger of destruction.” — Being a gringo Catholic in Texas, I too thought immediately of “south of the border” when I read this at the beginning of the article. But of course, if you are a Catholic priest (vs. some other Fr. of another religion ex. Episcopalian or Orthodox) you will perpetually take the side of the illegal immigrant whether it’s the morally correct thing to do or not…or whether it’s the patriotic thing to do or not. Didn’t you know that aiding and abetting lawbreaking and the undermining of this country politically through amnesty is illegal ? When illegals begin to vote, whether illegally or as naturalized citizens, you more than most should be aware of their voting patterns…they vote for money over morality and patriotism every time. They vote for welfare over protection of the unborn and respect for traditional marriage to name just two major topics. It’s not like they would go without food and clothing in this country if there were a few less gov’t. programs — that is if the Church practiced what it preaches and took care of the people they encourage to enter the U.S. without permission instead of relying on the gov’t. to foot the bill.

It forbids the wearing of the actual flag as an article of clothing. It does not however stop you from wearing a depiction of the American flag such as a screen printed shirt. Those are two completely different things.

    Jun 19, 2014 at 10:26 am

So lets get this straight… these are Muslims living in the United States. *IN* the United States. Yet they feel threatened by a *symbol* of the United States? They’re not too threatened by the actual USA to live *in* it, but they do feel threatened by the *symbol* of it.

That is absurd. If I went to Iran and people were flying the Iranian flag, or if I went to North Korea and I saw the North Korean flag flying and the Leader’s face plastered everywhere, would I feel threatened?

Well, yes. But no more threatened than if there were no flags and creepy dictator images. Because I feel threatened by the operating principles of those countries, and I certainly wouldn’t complain and try to get them to remove the symbols. I’d leave the friggin’ country, because that’s what *really* threatens me.

Am I allowed to feel even a wee bit threatened by people who come into my country and then tell me I can’t display my country’s flag because they feel threatened by it?

To me, that flag stands for the Constitution of the USA and its Bill of Rights and for the Declaration of Independence and the values they uphold. Whatever flaws and wrongs some of my countrymen have done over the generations that contradict those values – those things are not what the symbol of the flag stands for. It stands for the core values that we should always strive to uphold, and to rally to reinstate when they’ve been betrayed.

Anyone coming to this country to live should be informed of those two key documents and that *that* is what the flag is meant to stand for, not the deviations from those values, but those values.

If it’s those values they feel threatened by, then I am threatened – down to the core of my freedom-loving being – by the people who tell me I shouldn’t fly my flag.

So did Muslims complain about the flag? Or was it non-Muslim political correctness that prompted the rule?

    This is interesting.

    The complex: http://lodgeeldorado.com/

    The property taxing authority: http://www.hcad.org/
We get two listings for the complex with ownership in the name of El Dorado Ranch LLC. http://www.hcad.org/Records/SelectRecord.asp

A couple of things we can learn from these pages. No other similar sounding name except the property is divided by buildings. The owner name and address are different (very common). This place is huge (over 300 units). By state law, properties with over like 6 apartments must have a manager live on site. They will have several managers. If I search here for the Portwest address, there is something called Coastal Conservation but it is a different suite number. It was purchased in 2008.

Moving on to the LLC. I couldn’t find out much on it. The state comptroller oversees this. https://mycpa.cpa.state.tx.us/staxpayersearch/SlsTxpyrSearch.jsp I looked there and could not find it even by zip code (but then I looked for what I know to be known LLCs and didn’t find them either – by known name and zip code). So this is an I don’t know. I do know that Texas charges a franchise tax for LLCs which make over about a million dollars annually. The state would be looking for that money, trust me.

I looked under DBA http://www.cclerk.hctx.net/applications/websearch/AN.aspx El Dorado Ranch has something current but it dates from 2010 (year, day, month) and the complex was purchased September 2008. To open a checking account to put all those rent checks, the bank will need current DBA papers as well as the LLC. And the address is different. Looking under The Lodge does not have anything which matches up with the above.

The Portwest address (6919 suite 160) brings us to: http://www.camapts.com/Careers.aspx A property management business. Interesting. Very interesting also because there is no name associated with the LLC or at this location.

If anyone wants to take this farther, try http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/sosda/index.shtml There is a small fee for inquiries.

Isn’t it sufficient for a sufficiently pious Muslim that I be a non-Muslim for him to fly off the handle?

The property managers are in deathly fear of state and federal laws designed to punish white/male/Christian citizens, a self-imposed version of apartheid laws. The Muslim/Islam threat is seen as secondary during this mostly pre-violent phase of Islamic conquest.

      @islamisdeath:
Your claim that the Chief of Police of League City is a muslim seems unfounded. Can you back it up? I did a quick google search and found that the League City Chief of Police is Michael Kramm. I did not find any indication that he is a muslim. I live in Seabrook, which is next to League City, and I would seriously doubt that they would have a muslim Chief of Police.

Mr. Tran lives in Webster, TX, which has an “Islamic Center” (aka mosque). This disturbs me greatly, but there is nothing I can do about it. There was a “Light of Islam” bookstore near the mosque, but it closed recently (yea!!!). While there is a muslim community in the area, I don’t see too many signs of it. Whenever I do see signs of it then it gives me an opportunity to discuss what islam truly is, and what Muhammad really said and did.

My typical statement is: Islam is not a religion of peace, it is a religion of intolerance and hatred. If you don’t believe me, then read the Koran. I read it twice just to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding it.

I denounce what the apartment manager said to Mr. Tran. However, I believe it is an isolated incidence in this area of Texas. I would like to hear from the apartment manager, not just a prepared statement from the organization whom they work for.

What *I* find pertinent here, is that there doesn’t seem to be any actual complaints from *mohammedans* reference the flag; but it seems to be the decision of the *apartment manager**.

Yet another instance of a libtard leftist apologist for islam, doing the mohammedan’s work for them, or she may be a mohammedan, or married to one ?

In any case, as has been pointed out by others, if the ‘mohammedan community’ is so moderate, and so patriotic, how can it be possible for them to feel that a US flag, displayed in the US, is a “threat to their community” ?

Could it be possible that the ‘moderate’ muslim ‘community’ is not really committed to freedom, justice, and the American way ? Surely not !

This reminds me of similar cases in the UK, where flying the Cross of Saint George, and even the Union Jack, has been deemed ( by ‘useful idiot’ , complicit in stealth jihad, vicious and stupid county councillors) as ‘offensive’ to mohammedans. Screw ‘ em.

I have, at the bottom of my garden, a flagpole, upon which I regularly fly, not only the Cross of St. George, but also the Union Jack, *and* the Scottish Saltire. I must ask my husband to transfer it from the bottom of the garden, to our **front gate**.

I can’t *wait* for some officious little jobsworth to tell me I must take it down, in case I ‘offend the muslim community’. It would be such fun !

More power to your elbow, Mr Tran !

And incidentally, isn’t this something that SIOA should be pouncing on, and AFDI ? You shouldn’t be leaving true patriots like Mr Tran swinging in the wind. In fact, it would be a tremendous chance to burst the bubble of the ‘moderate, patriotic muslims’ meme.

Sound interesting. Do you think you have such creatures lurking about your neighbourhood? I guess if you put up the flag in the front garden it might serve to flush them out into the open. Keep us posted, sister!

Just a thought for you – do you know of a venerable and respectable English patriotic organisation, under the patronage of no less a person than HM the Queen, which is called “The Royal Society of St George”?

      http://www.royalsocietyofstgeorge.com/

They have a whole section on their website that advises upon the proper protocol of flying the flag.

      http://www.royalsocietyofstgeorge.com/PDF/Flying%20the%20flag%20guidance%20notes.pdf

      http://www.royalsocietyofstgeorge.com/other_premises.htm

Nota bene – “The premises shown under regularly fly the English flag. If your residence or other local premises do the same, please send us a photograph with details and we will be very happy to publish here. Thank you.”

There are photos of a number of private residences flying the flag – the Cross of St George – and not *little* flags, either.

Perhaps you should join the Society (I don’t know how much it costs to join) at or just before the time when you move your flagpole to the front garden. Make sure that you are doing everything right and proper. Take a photo and send it to the Society to add to their collection.

Then, if some nasty snitch pounces on you for “offending”, you can summon the whole Society of St George to your aid…

    This is outrageous!!!

It reminds me of something similar that happened last year to my husband and I …

Hubby and I are Christians and we are proud and strong supporters of Israel.
We live in SoCal in an apartment complex where many residents fly the American flag during certain times of year, and without incident here …but last year we flew our American and Israeli flag side-by-side, and the apartment manager told us that we had to remove our Israeli flag–due to complaints they had received, but we didn’t have to remove the American flag. Also, we have no idea who issued the complaints.

So in response my husband ordered two “I Stand With Israel” bumper stickers online that we still have on our cars, and management has *not* asked us to remove them yet. Yeah just let them tell us what we can, or can’t, display on our cars! But I suppose that’s next. I’ll keep you guys posted.

While I agree Jihad is a scourge on this earth and needs to be eradicated this case gives me the feeling its the apartment manager herself that has the problem with either him or the flag. Maybe his flag is more prominent than the others or she harbors some ill will towards him. I’m sure there is more than one Jane Fonda out there………

    Good for you, Mr. Tran!

My guess is that either this guy or his parents came here to get away from an odious Communist regime, and ended up very appreciative of what they got in their new country. Were I their neighbor, I’d invite them over for a 4th of July barbecue.

I’m not someone who’s always showing the flag myself. Nor do I despise people who display other flags; for I’ve observed on both sides of the Canadian border how a lot of people fly both flags (probably to attract custom from both countries). However, I have no gripe with Americans–whether natural born or naturalized–showing Old Glory. I put mine up at times, too.

Also, when I lived abroad and host country nationals held their patriotic observations, I treated such things with respect. It seems only proper.

Sure, I’ve expressed sympathy with people who quibble with the Pledge of Allegiance (I’d have a real problem with the “Under God” left out), but I don’t quibble with flying the flag.

If these Muslim neighbors are offended by the flag of the country where they choose to live, they can jolly well pack up and go back to wherever they’re from.

Mr. Tran: If you or some of your relatives immigrated under the Orderly Departure Program back in 1991-92, I’d count it an honor if I found out I’d signed their visas.

And will they remove the Hijab’s, Niqabs, Kaffiyas and demolish the minarets of their Obamanable Mosques?

I think the apt manager made it all up just to be a jerk, or mohammadends own the complex. Who knows. Easy enough to check. Also, check your population stats for muslims using the US Census of 2010. I found that muslims are a MERE .6% (6 tenths of ONE PERCENT) population in the USA, BUT the hair on the tip of the dogs tail will try to wag the dog. (great metaphor for Moha’s strange and bizarre hatred of dogs and pictures on the wall – see the koran for that bit of Moha STUPIDITY)….anyway…we have CAIR attempting to be the Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of the mohammedans – the Joseph Goebbels of the propaganda pundits for islam. We the People of the USA just ask the basics for our immigrants who come to our shores to share in our ‘fought and died for freedoms’ – Be an AMERICAN! Know English, respect others! Yes, I know, the GOLDEN RULE DOESN’T EXIST in islam. What a pity! Glad TRAN is sticking by his belief that WE THE PEOPLE aren’t WE THE DHIMMIS! Shameful of the apt manager – it would be great to see WHO OWNS that complex! And the population of muslims – or not.

Texas: Man told to take down his US flag, as it’s “a threat towards the Muslim community”
    ……………………………….

This is outrageous—and it happened *in Texas*.

Hard to know if this complaint came from an actual Muslim or if the apartment manager was manifesting preemptive dhimmitude, but it is appalling in either case.

And note: Duy Tran is not some sort of “redneck”, but a Vietnamese-American. Obviously an immigrant or son of immigrants who unlike Muslims *does not* consider the American flag a “threat”.

In the weeks after 9/11, the flag flew *everywhere* in my area—and this was the San Francisco Bay Area, including Oakland and Berkeley.

Some idiot in the Berkeley government did suggest to the fire department that their flying flags on their trucks could be an “incitement” to protesters and they should be removed.

In response, the Berkeley Fire Department flew the *biggest flags they could find* from their trucks, and did so for years (they now fly smaller flags in line with the norm of other cities—but not because they were forced to). And guess what? Even in this leftist town, people would often applaud and cheer when they went by!
