This afternoon I was on Ed Berliner’s Midpoint on Newsmax TV, discussing the jihad in Iraq and Syria and what the U.S. can and cannot, and should and shouldn’t, do about it.

At some point you have to let the barbarians kill each other and sort each other out. Protect our own country and provide aid without risk to our own people–this is all we should do.

What a MESS!
Well done, Robert. I have a fuller understanding of just how dire and untenable the situation truly is…

Why neglect mentioning support for the Kurds and the Jordanians? They have proven themselves over a good span of years to be capable, loyal partners of ours in pursuit of common interests. They are viable states that keep peace and make reliable allies of the U.S.

I expect vehement disagreement from those who insist that “all ‘[insert slur]’ are the same, let ’em destroy one another.”

Jordanians (loyal partners) I can’t help but wonder if that might be overly optimistic.
As long as the self interests of the leadership of Jordan’s coincide with ours then we can bargain with them.
Things change / governments change

The Kurds assisted us in both Gulf Wars, and performed an invaluable service to the West, eliminating the fiefdom of Al-Qaida ally Ansar al-Islam and its jihadist terrorists (ironically, themselves Kurd).
At our urging, King Hussein of Jordan made peace with Israel, recognizing the Jewish state and normalizing relations; he and his son who followed have kept this peace to the letter.
Why mention Saudi Arabia, Yemen, or Pakistan as allies in This War That Is Not, without mentioning autonomous Kurdistan (and their fellow Kurds fighting ISIS in north-easternmost Syria), and the ISIS-targeted Kingdom of Jordan?
John C. Barile says
It’s my understanding that polls have shown the Kurdish people’s favorable views of the United States and of Americans to be high, and not just relative to the the much less favorable views held by neighboring countries.
John C. Barile says
Well, fellow Western Christians, I doubt you’ll be adding Petra, Mt. Nebo, or the site of Jesus’ Baptism to your pilgrimage itineraries once ISIS overthrows Jordan. But, hey, What Difference Does It Make At This Point what these savage [insert slur] do to each other?

As always, excellent Robert. Our government is insane, or evil, or both.

There is too much momentum behind the attacks Muslims are perpetrating around the world; from slaughtering dozens in churches and shops in Africa, to plunging knives into street prostitutes in jolly old England, to bombing our Boston foot-race. The entire world needs to be set free from the craven belief that Islam is the religion of peace, that there is a moderate Islam we can trust, and that that moderate Islam will soon subdue all the bad boys and girls who so horribly misunderstand what it means to be Muslim. Ain’t gonna happen. Nope.
As I write at the link below, everything they need to successfully carry out an attack like they did in Mumbai and Nairobi and Beslan is already here. They either have it now or can get it quickly. They will attack us again and again and again and the easiest way to do that is not to swipe another plane or two and head for the nearest skyscraper, or to detonate a nuke in NYC. The easiest thing for them to do, and they already know it and are planning and practicing it, is to get a few brothers and sisters together, give them all two dependable semi-automatic pistols with several fully-loaded hi-capacity mags each and head for the local mall. And, yet, the people who should and must understand this strategy and be ready and willing to destroy those who will surely attempt it ~ the police ~ will fail us. Not all of them, but enough.

I don’t see why the Liberals have such a problem understanding the Islamists. Both groups have a totalitarian ideology that tolerates no differing views, and both groups want only one thing: power.
