Yet another misunderstander of Islam in the U.S., twisting and hijacking the beautiful teachings of peace that are propagated, as we all know, in all U.S. mosques. Why does this keep happening? Maybe mosques in the U.S. should institute programs to teach Muslims why they should reject on Islamic grounds the understanding of Islam held by groups like al-Shabaab. Hey, great idea! Why hasn’t anyone thought of it?
“Fla. man convicted in case of terror group travel,” The Associated Press, July 27, 2014 (thanks to Kenneth):
MIAMI — A South Florida man has been sentenced to federal prison for lying to FBI agents about his attempts to travel to Africa to join a violent terrorist organization.
A five-year prison sentence was imposed last week on 24-year-old Solomon Zaid Alkadhi of Plantation. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to falsely telling the FBI he never tried to travel to Somalia to join the al-Shabab terrorist group. The group is an Islamic extremist organization seeking to oust Somalia’s government through violence.
In his guilty plea, Alkadhi admitted that he had done online research on al-Shabab and later traveled in 2009 to Kenya in an attempt to join the group in Somalia.
Kenyan authorities stopped Alkadhi at the border and he was eventually returned to the U.S.

somewhat off topic
It appears that the South Florida man influenced his jihadi comrades as well.
Notice the Miami styled pink head coverings in stark contrast to the plain green ensemble. Versace no doubt.

Yes, very stylish. The pink gives better vis in targeting scopes too.

The camo jackets and pink keffiyahs would look great with some turquoise pantaloons and white loafers.
