The Islamic State just tweeted out this poster about jizya, explaining the reasons for the jizya, giving the Qur’anic citation (9:29), and setting its rates for the rich, the middle class, and the poor. Will some moderate Muslim spokesman in the U.S. kindly explain how they are getting Islam wrong in all this, and what steps are being taken to disabuse them of their misunderstanding of Islam?

The original poster was in Arabic, so the person who done the translation made a few mistakes translating the arabic numbers to european, and in one number put an extra 4, and mixing another up

Other than these small mistakes the translator has done an excellent of translating the original poster to english. I very much doubt that agrononse could translate english⇆arabic posters without making any mistake.

It’s not a matter with the arabic you dumbass, it’s a matter with math. If 4.25 grams of gold are worth $178 then twice that value is not $375, no matter the language.
Also, the person who “done the translation” seems to be affiliated with ISIS so if the poster is ridiculous then so is the entity who put him out. Gee, no wonder they called out for engineers – it seems they can’t add 2 plus 2 together.

The issue here is not how well i can translate to or from arabic so shove your strawman tu quoque back into the stinky hole you pulled it from. Mathematical error are mathematical errors, no matter the language. That’s not too bad of a tax rate though…I’d much rather pay that than the amount I’m forking over every year. Not only that, it seems like a flat rate, no more accounting or keeping records. I’m feeling more subdued by the U.S. tax code.

Erm, this is an extra tax non-muslims must pay on top of the regular taxes. And if history serves of indication then it’s not a fixed value, it fluctuates depending on the needs of the caliph/sultan/state. In some cases it amounted to over 80% of the yearly income, there are cases where parents were forced to sell their children to slavery to be able to pay the jizya. And once again, if history serves of indication, since the jizya is the proof of humiliation, you’d very likely have to fork over the cash in a humiliating public ceremony, bowing down and getting insulted and slapped in the head or neck.

Australian scholar Rev Dr Mark Durie goes into this ritual of humiliation – and its devastating psycho-spiritual effect on the dhimmis, as it was inflicted generation after generation – in his book “The Third Choice: Islam, Dhimmitude and Freedom”.
The intention of the imposition of the dhimma, and all the other humiliating and degrading Rules for Dhimmis, is nothing less than the **killing of the soul**. Durie came across a Sufi writer who used precisely that terminology, when discussing the jizya. And *another* Sufi, one Sirhindi, in India, said of the dhimmis that “they must always be terrified and trembling”. The idea is to keep people poor and constantly on edge, constantly afraid, utterly vulnerable.
Like a pimp who deliberately, repeatedly, scientifically abuses and manipulates and tortures a woman till there is nothing left, no will to resist, and he can use and abuse her any way he likes, as if she were a thing, not a person.
