“The U.N. mission in Libya said the closure of Tripoli airport and the deteriorating security situation made it impossible for it to operate. Three years after the fall of Moammar Gadhafi, Libya has slipped deeper into chaos with its weak government and new army unable to control brigades of former rebel fighters and militias who often battle for political and economic power.” Not that the UN does any good in Libya or anywhere else, but this entire situation in Libya is all thanks to…Barack H. Obama.
“Tripoli Airport Shelling Destroys Planes; U.N. Pulls Libya Staff, NBC News, July 15, 2014 (thanks to Twostellas):
TRIPOLI, Libya – A militia shelled Tripoli airport, destroying 90 percent of planes parked there, a Libyan government spokesman said Tuesday as heavy fighting between armed groups prompted the United Nations to withdraw its staff. At least 15 people have been killed in clashes in Tripoli and the eastern city of Benghazi since Sunday, and a Libyan official said several Grad rockets hit the Tripoli International Airport on Monday, damaging the control tower.
Government spokesman Ahmed Lamine said 90 percent of the planes parked at the airport were destroyed. “Several planes and cars belonging to citizens were hit,” said Abdel Rahman, a soldier in a unit protecting the airport. A hall used by customs controls had also been hit, he added. The U.N. mission in Libya said the closure of Tripoli airport and the deteriorating security situation made it impossible for it to operate. Three years after the fall of Moammar Gadhafi, Libya has slipped deeper into chaos with its weak government and new army unable to control brigades of former rebel fighters and militias who often battle for political and economic power.

The only consistent theme of Obama’s foreign policy is creating internal chaos in countries so that sharia law can be forced upon the unfortunate inhabitants. Any political movement that might actually help people gain freedom will get the cold shoulder from Obama and his administration.
Come to think of it, Obama’s domestic policy is designed to reduce our freedom, too.

This is unworthy of Spencer and factually biased. The US was dragged reluctantly into the Libyan civil war. If anbody is to blame it should be
Sarkozy and Cameron who pressured the US to help them when the citizens of Benghazi (yes the same Benghazi) were facing massacre by Ghaddafi’s forces
and were begging the West for help. It was humanitarian issue. If we had stood back and let Ghaddafi slaughter them as he had publicly stated he was going to do so, we would have been shamed for ever.
Of course we have stood back and let Assad slaughter his people but that is another, but regrettably similar story.
Intervention in Libya result chaos. Non intervention in Syria chaos plus ISIS
in control of large parts of Iraq. Which in fact is the more worse outcome?

So, the people of Benghazi beg for Western help, and after it is given, they murder the US Ambassador and 3 others to celebrate 9/11? They sound like a bunch of ungrateful pigs who richly deserve whatever harsh, tyrannical government God imposes on them in order to keep at least a few of them alive so their distant offspring may know divine grace.
Benghazi was long known as a hotbed of Qaida activity, and it was well known that the Libyan rebels against Qaddaffy were motivated by Islamicist principles. While I can understand why our government tried to present the Muslim Brotherhood as “moderate” (which it may be compared to Qaida) was putting a brave face on a bad situation, we had no business becoming supporters and an international cheering section for such people.
I do not believe that the O is trying to make the world safe for Sharia. He is simply another Leftist who is smugly assured of his own wisdom even as his policies leave chaos in their wake.

“… the US was dragged reluctantly into the Libyan civil war.”
Give me a break. The US is the largest military, economic, and cultural power on the planet — militarily by far. No one can ‘drag’ the US into foreign conflicts. If the US doesn’t want to go… no one can seriously force them.
Also, the US is more than happy bowing out of lots of foreign conflicts. How many African genocides have their been and the US has done nothing? Millions murdered in Rwandan, Nigeria, and Darfur… and you are saying the US can’t say no because a few hundred people in Benghazi were begging?
And… even assuming Obama was ‘dragged’ into the war by Sarkozy and Cameron… why isn’t that Obama’s fault? Why is it not reasonable to expect that US leaders not get dragged into such conflicts? The US had Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Somalia, and doesn’t of other conflicts in which is was perfectly clear that such wars are costly, un-winnable, never see a stable democracy, often see the same civilians crying for help killing your troops, etc.
I don’t think it unreasonable for a US president to ask what is the likely result of the country after overthrowing a dictator? Has any Islamic country ever become a democracy?

By Western standards, Gaddafi may have been a dictator/tyrant/demagogue or whatever title suits Western sensibilities, but the streets of Tripoli and Benghazi were safe to walk at night and you could drive along the coast road without fear of being robbed and murdered.
I know, because I worked in that country for 8 years.
Seems like after Libya´s liberation from the “monster” people take their lives in their hands every time they step out the front door.
