Pelosi’s statement is boneheaded, but it is understandable in light of the Obama Administration’s willingness to normalize Hamas and accept it as part of a “Palestinian” unity government. “Pelosi: Qataris Have Told Me ‘Hamas Is a Humanitarian Organization,'” by Susan Jones, CNSNews.com, July 28, 2014:

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says the United States must look to Qatar, an ally of the terrorist group Hamas, for advice in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

“And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization,” she told CNN’s “State of the Union” with Candy Crowley.

As CNSNews.com reported last week, Qatar is a strong supporter and funder of Hamas. Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal operates from Qatar, and has so far rejected ceasefire proposals put forward by Egypt and promoted by Secretary of State John Kerry.

The U.S government designated Hamas as a “foreign terrorist organization” in 1997. Its founding charter calls for Jews to be killed and says all Muslims are duty-bound to join a jihad to destroy Israel.

In an interview aired on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday, Hamas leader Meshaal said Hamas does not fight the Jews just because they are Jews. “We fight the occupiers,” he said. As if he wants to recognize Israel as a Jewish state?, Meshaal said “No.”

“War is a deadly thing,” Pelosi said on Sunday, speaking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“And I have many Palestinians who live in my district, and I am hearing them regularly about how their families are affected who live in the region. It’s a terrible thing. But let me just say that any missile that comes from someplace has a return address. And if Israel is responding to that address, then that’s a shame that the Palestinians are …rumored to be using children and families as shields for their missiles.”

Pelosi said the first thing to do is to “avoid conflict” that “Hamas initiated.”

“[T]his has to be something where we try to have the two-state solution, that we have to support…(Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud) Abbas and his role as a leader there. We have to support Iron Dome to protect the Israelis from the missiles. We have to support the Palestinians and what they need. And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to —

Crowley interrupted her at that point, and they turned to another topic….

  6. I am really surprised that this lady of 74 yrs and with a long political life, believes what the Quataris say (that Hamas is a humanitarian organization), when her own Govt., has declared it as a Terrorist Organisation in ’97. I really pity the electorates who have elected her..

  10. I find it absolutely staggering that a person in her position is so grossly under informed. The GOP ought to make mince meat of this, but it’s not likely to happen as the vast majority of them are either timid weasels or under informed themselves.

I think most of them stopped learning after they passed the bar exam. Look who leads them – Boehner and McConnell. Boehner is a drunken crybaby, and McConnell doesn’t have enough respect for himself to brush his teeth. They both need to be replaced with younger men who can fight. Trey Gowdy and Ted Cruz or Mike Lee would be my choices.

  12. Come on, be honest. I’m no Pelosi fan, but at the end she did agree that Hamas was a terrorist organization — although it took prodding from Candy Crowley. That’s more than anyone from CAIR, MSA, or any number of MB front groups would admit. Does anyone know whether Keith Ellison or André Carson has admitted that Hamas is a terrorist organization?

  13. The Tea Party by its actions and its statements has shown itself to be peaceful and wants government by the constitutional book. But she’s “been told” that the TP is violent and racist, and that’s the end of the story as far as she’s concerned.

    Hamas/Hezbollah by their actions and their statements has shown themselves to be violent and racist and will do anything to get their way. But she’s “been told” that the these Muslim organizations are peaceful and humanitarian, and that’s the end of the story as far as she’s concerned.

    Pelosi’s utter cluelessness and stupidity reminded me of what Mark Twain once said and that is “Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you were a member of Congress, but I repeat myself.”

While Pelosi isn’t fit for office and I oppose her 99%, your headline & transcript ignore her final comment clarifying she considers Hamas a terrorist organization. It seems that whomever put this piece together is purposely sabotaging jihadwatch. It sounded to me that Pelosi was trying to say that the Qatari’s should use their influence, which she understands from their position that they are simply a humanitarian organization, to get Hamas to stop calling for Israel’s destruction. Here’s where the headline could’ve been focused. Following Obama Conferring with Qatar & Turkey, Both Supporting Hamas, Pelosi Concurs.

    • Disagree. Pelosi indicated her silliness several times in this interview. As examples, she said that Hamas is “rumored” to be storing weaponry in civilian places. Rumored? My God, this is an absolute certainty.

      She also pushed for working with Abbas and his ilk. Abbas just represents slow jihad while Hamas represents fast jihad. One knows or should know that Abbas and his kind also want the destruction of Israel.

      Finally, for Pelosi to even mention that the Qataris told her that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, as though this could be believed on its face by any sane and sensible person, is risible. And all she said at the end about Hamas being a terrorist organization was an “hmm, hmm.”

      Pelosi should be mocked for this interview. Regularly. Steadily.

      BTW, it’s no coincidence that Pelosi represents San Francisco in Congress. Though the city is beautiful, it is inhabited by some of the looniest people in all of America. Quite fitting that Pelosi represents it.

    In fact, every serving infidel politician and diplomat world-wide – whether in the East or in the West, in the first world or the third world – would do well to read Mr Ibrahim’s articles – which are in desperate need of being translated into as many of the main Infidel languages as possible – and **believe them**.

    For then they would assume, prima facie, that …**Muslims lie** and **Muslims do not intend anything good toward Infidels**…and they would adjust their (the Infidels’) trade dealings and foreign policy and immigration policy – and homeland security and policing practices – accordingly.
