“There were no details on what led to the 27-year-old’s departure from Khartoum, and there was no immediate comment from the Sudanese authorities.” But as she “arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport with her family and Italy’s vice minister for foreign affairs, Lapo Pistelli,” it would appear — at least on the basis of this story — that Italian authorities, not hopeless Obama-led Americans, arranged her escape from Sudan.
“Sudanese Christian woman Miriam Ibrahim arrives in Italy after escaping death sentence,” ABC.net.au, July 24, 2014 (thanks to Sylvia):
A Sudanese woman who was spared a death sentence for converting from Islam to Christianity and then barred from leaving Sudan has flown into Rome on an Italian government plane, officials said.
Mariam Yahya Ibrahim, whose sentence and detention triggered international outrage, arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport with her family and Italy’s vice minister for foreign affairs, Lapo Pistelli.
There were no details on what led to the 27-year-old’s departure from Khartoum, and there was no immediate comment from the Sudanese authorities.
Ms Ibrahim was sentenced to death by a Sudanese court in May on charges of converting from Islam to Christianity and marrying a Christian South Sudanese-American.
The conviction was quashed last month, but Sudan’s government accused her of trying to leave the country with falsified papers, preventing her departure for the United States with her American-South Sudanese husband and two children.
Her lawyer Mohaned Mostafa said he had not been told of her departure.
“I don’t know anything about such news but so far the complaint that was filed against Mariam and which prevents her from travelling from Sudan has not been cancelled,” Mr Mostafa said.
Ms Ibrahim says she was born and raised as a Christian by an Ethiopian family in Sudan and later abducted by a Sudanese Muslim family.
The Muslim family denies that and filed a lawsuit to have her marriage annulled last week in a new attempt to stop her leaving the country. That case was later dropped.
Prime minister Matteo Renzi mentioned Ibrahim’s case in his speech to inaugurate Italy’s six-month European Union presidency earlier this month.
“If there is no European reaction we cannot feel worthy to call ourselves ‘Europe’,” Mr Renzi said.
Muslim women are not permitted to marry Christian men under the brand of Islamic law enforced in Sudan.
Ibrahim, her husband and children had been staying at the US Embassy in Khartoum.

Viva Italia!
Shame on that Gutless Wonder in the White House!
Bill says
Also, shame on all the Christian leaders who do the following:
1. Fail to preach against Islam.
2. Fail to perceive Israel today as the direct result of the intervention of God and the fulfillment of God’s plan of redemption.
3. Shame on Christian leaders who adopt Replacement or Fulfillment theology.
4. Shame on Christian leaders who support the Two State Solution, a direct disobedience to God and a sure prescription for W.W. III.
5. Shame on Christian leaders who, rather than preach the truth, that Islam is directly associated with the anti-Christ, preach that Islam is a legitimate expression, even imperfect and flawed, of the truth of God.

Yes, John!
God bless Italy! I was fortunate to have lived there many years. Such warm hearted people.
I was having a good morning already, this news that Mariam and her family are in Italia just made it much better. I’m not a Christian, but I say that this woman is a HUGE inspiration. With all the ugliness in the world, it’s feats of endurance & faith like this that can help put your mind & spirit back into a proper perspective.
Hope you’re doing well, Sir.

Viva l’Italia, that is.

Ah, don’t go correcting yourself, you were on point! Italy stepped up. Pints were raised at my house all day on this good news.
Freedom minded people worldwide should celebrate this!
I called Senator Chambliss’s and Senator Isakson’s offices today, the nice young ladies answering the phones both said they were “vaguely aware” of Mariam and her family’s situation.
When I asked them to give me a few highpoints concerning the case, they just reiterated that they were “vaguely aware” of the situation. In other words it was a textbook (BULLSHIT) response for anything that someone may call to express an opinion to their senator about.
The staffers are ill-informed and don’t give a shit because the Senator doesn’t give a shit.

Well, I’ll be darn–here all the while I thought you were in South Georgia–South Georgia Island–not south Georgia, USA.
Kinda reminds me of a cartoon I saw during the 1982 Falklands War that played on just such confusion.
Warm greetings, all the same.

Good for her! I am glad she is now safe! As a European citizen, I don’t have a problem with immigrants moving over to Europe in order to start a better life so I hope this woman will find peace in Italy. I only have a problem with muslim immigrants, who rape, steal, kill and want to convert us all!!!!
gravenimage says
Her husband is an American citizen, Lauren, and the family will be going on to New York.
But I’m sure this brave woman and her family would be an asset wherever they settled.

“under the brand of Islamic law enforced in Sudan”? Is there any “brand of Islamic law” that allows a woman to marry a Christian man? I know that it’s allowed the other way around, under the assumption that the Christian woman will convert to Islam. I was under the impression that this isn’t just specific to Sudan and their “brand of Islamic law,” as if it’s a deviation from the norm.

Finally. Now how are we going to save all the other non-Muslims who are being slaughtered and persecuted by the Muhammadans?

We have to do the best we can and NEVER stay silent. Send emails/letters to your representatives asking for ACTION against evil ideologies.
Imagine that it’s 1930 and in an European country (Germany) some ideology is taking root which is totalitarian and kills anyone who disagrees with them (nazism).
Something like that is happening in the Middle East and actually in Europe too.

Finally some good news!
And yes, what a shame that it was not the US that helped this family.
gravenimage says
I don’t know what Obama did, if anything, Mo—but the American Embassy did give her haven in Khartoum.
And bless the efforts of the Italian government, as well!
After meeting with the Pope, the family is going on to New York.
Reality Check says
The more I read about this case, the happier I am that American presidents are not allowed to serve the USA for longer than eight years.
In that way, there is a time limit to how much Barack Obama can harm the the future of the entire world with his preference for Islam.

The Bible (Deuteronomy 13:6-9):
“If your very own brother…secretly entices you, saying: Let us go and worship other gods…Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him.You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people.”
Reality Check says
So? How does this prove that Islam is good?
And you are missing the following fact: Christianity doesn’t kill anybody for leaving it while Islam does.

@ Kal
Hey, Kal, what does copying one isolated verse from a book you know you’ve never studied have anything to do with this post?
