“The hard-hitting report may fuel tensions in England’s second city and raise questions about whether Britain has taken adequate steps to expose and uproot Islamism.” No, it hasn’t. Quite the contrary: it has abetted and encouraged Islamic supremacists by allowing their stigmatization of foes of jihad terror to become official British government policy — hence the ban on Pamela Geller and me.
“It will also make uncomfortable reading for Birmingham city council as it accuses local politicians and officials of ignoring evidence of extremism for years, repeatedly failing to support bullied headteachers and putting the need to soothe community tensions ahead of all else.” That is, the need to appease supremacist Muslims, which apparently trumps all other needs.
“Trojan Horse: Leaked report reveals ‘aggressive Islamist agenda’ in Birmingham schools,” by Keith Perry, the Telegraph, July 18, 2014:
A damning report into the alleged Trojan horse crisis in Birmingham schools has uncovered evidence of “co-ordinated, deliberate and sustained action to introduce an intolerant and aggressive Islamist ethos into some schools in the city”.
The conclusion comes from a leaked draft of a report, commissioned by the former Education Secretary Michael Gove and written by Peter Clarke, the former head of the Metropolitan police’s counterterrorism command, which is due to be published in the next 24 hours.
Mr Clarke said there was a “sustained and co-ordinated agenda to impose upon children in a number of Birmingham schools the segregationist attitudes and practices of a hardline and politicised strain of Sunni Islam”, the Guardian reports.
The draft, marked as sensitive, added that: “Left unchecked, it would confine schoolchildren within an intolerant, inward-looking monoculture that would severely inhibit their participation in the life of modern Britain”.
The hard-hitting report may fuel tensions in England’s second city and raise questions about whether Britain has taken adequate steps to expose and uproot Islamism. It will also make uncomfortable reading for Birmingham city council as it accuses local politicians and officials of ignoring evidence of extremism for years, repeatedly failing to support bullied headteachers and putting the need to soothe community tensions ahead of all else.
The report will provide a tough challenge for the new Education Secretary Nicky Morgan in only her second full day in post. Touching on one of Mr Gove’s flagship reforms, Mr Clarke calls for the Department for Education “to review the process by which schools are able to convert to academy status and become multi-academy trusts”.
The former police chief said there were potentially serious problems in some academies raised by the Birmingham “Trojan horse” crisis. The draft states: “In theory, academies are accountable to the secretary of state, but in practice the accountability can almost amount to benign neglect where educational and financial performance seems to indicate everything is fine.”
Ofsted has already published a report into the quality of Birmingham education after inspections at 21 schools revealed serious problems, leading to five schools being placed in special measures. Senior staff at Park View Educational Trust, who were identified in the Clarke report as central to the agenda, have also resigned.
In response to the Ofsted report, Birmingham local government officials and politicians accused Sir Michael Wilshaw, the chief inspector of schools, of deliberately misrepresenting problems of governance in a small number of schools by associating them with a wider threat of Islamist extremism.
On Friday, Birmingham is due to publish Clarke’s final report, in conjunction with its own inquiry, conducted by Ian Kershaw.
The crisis in Birmingham schools erupted in February when an anonymous letter claimed there was a “Trojan horse” conspiracy in which conservative Muslims aimed to infiltrate Birmingham schools. Although the letter is thought to be a hoax as regards the specific allegation, the broad notion of infiltration was felt to merit further investigation.
Criticising the council, Mr Clarke says: “There was never a serious attempt to see if there was a pattern to what was happening in school governing bodies. The council’s approach has been variously described to me as appeasement and a failure in their duty of care towards their employees.”
With access to internal council correspondence, he said there was “incontrovertible evidence” that senior officials and elected members of Birmingham city council were aware of the practices set out in the Trojan Horse letter as early as 2012.
Tahir Alam, the chair of governors of the Park View Trust, who is the subject of special criticism in the report, resigned earlier this week after claiming there had been a “vicious and co-ordinated offensive” against the trust. His fellow trustees also resigned en masse.
Alam, of course, also said that the whole thing was all about “Islamophobia.”
John C. Barile says
Imposition of an “intolerant, inward-looking monoculture” is here exposed and thwarted. Much more of this is necessary, but this is such a heartening development. Good riddance to the likes of Tahir Alam and his fellow trustees.

Islamic ideology is a hate crime.

What about all the children who have already been poisoned with this nonsense? How will they be ‘de-programed’?????

The most minimal first step is to acknowledge that a Muslim cannot simultaneously also be a citizen of a free state. They voluntarily surrender any claim of citizenship in a free state upon their claim to be a Muslim. It is like someone changing their citizenship to French. There is no need to quibble with distinguishing moderate French from extremist French to recognize their mutually exclusive oath of loyalty to something other than to the U.K. or the U.S. etc.
The “Islamism” question is itself the wrong one, for it sidesteps and diverts from the elementary one noted above. The penalty of death in Islam for changing one’s “religion” is more properly understood as a penalty for treason, in a nation-state context.

The British are a cowardly, lazy, entitled bunch of people. They have allowed whole neighborhoods to become Islamic ruled slums where British law is irrelevant. The British seem more concerned with their rank in social class and the Royal family than they do with the conditions in their country. Why are they so concerned about offending Muslims, by doing away with their own rights to eat ham, bacon and baked goods made with lard, in Muslim neighborhoods? If these Islamic people can’t handle the responsibility and intelligence that comes with freedom in Britain, tell them to leave.
What are the British afraid of?
Even areas like Dubai that pretend to be Western, don’t allow kissing or holding hands in public, and imprison rape victims. So, why can’t a Western civilized country like Britain stand up for the rights and freedom of the British people?

So I and my fellow Brits are cowardly, lazy people? Well I think you are a scrofulous old bag with meningitis. You pompous, illiterate baboon.

Ad hominem lives and breathes! Many of my English friends and family believe Cameron’s Mantra (“It’s nothing to do with Islam”) and are by my assessment liberal Marxist ‘idiots for Islam’. The degree of ignorance is astonishing considering they see what goes on in the name of Islam yet still maintain their moronic confirmation bias and political correctness. And DO NOTHING.
ALL opposition to Islam is labelled Islamophobia, the EDL and others demonised. SO, it seems she is largely correct, though I don’t know if cowardice or PC is the cause; Anjem Choudary is allowed to incite hatred and racism whilst Paul Weston is arrested for quoting Churchill… you tell me why Brits don’t get off their lazy asses and OBJECT?
cheekturner says
Sadly Mr. Fox you underestimate us Brits. Cameron’s reign will end in 2015 and in the meantime much of what is revealed on JW and other like sites is being disseminated to the ordinary “Joe”, who receive the news, at first with disbelief, but subsequently they “look” for themselves and return to the subject with incredulity and, importantly, anger. When we become angry we become indignant individuals and start to challenge the problem, not by writing or e-mailing MPs, media or high profile dimwits, but rather by deliberately confronting the perpetrators of this insidious shit, such as the Islamic shop assistant who refuses to serve a customer with bacon, ham or wine and the suchlike, and making a point of re-asserting our right not to suffer this crap any more, and to make the lives of these morons as uncomfortable as possible. We fight them on their own front and they do not like it one bit.
This will become a campaign for all non-muslime citizens to deliberately shun the false concept of religiosity that is attached to Islime, ignore the lie that is Islamophobia, and stand up for their own rights and beliefs and eventually this garbage will be consigned to the sewers.
All we now need is an anti-islamophobia organisation to consolidate the power of “Joe’s” anger.
pumbar says
It seems to me that we are pretty much the only Western people that do object? Where’s your equivalent of the EDL or libertyGB? We voted a massive yes to UKIP to remove us from the pro immigration EU. We have people wrapping bacon around mosque door handles and getting banged up for ripping up korans.
We’re doing something. You’re not. Stop slagging us off.

Is it any better where you are Elise, presumably the US? America has more public figures still willing to speak out, England has more people willing to march and take the consequences. It certainly doesn’t help to snipe at each other.
As to why any Western civilized country will not stand up for the rights and freedom of the its people, here is one answer:
