I was on CBN yesterday to discuss the recent incident in which a Muslim imam and a mosque leader in Philadelphia attempted to enforce the Qur’an’s prescribed punishment for theft: amputation of the hand.
“Hand Chopping Case Spotlights Sharia in America?,” CBNNews.com, July 26, 2014:
Two leaders of a West Philadelphia mosque are accused of trying to chop off a follower’s hand with a machete after a Monday morning prayer service.
The alleged incident happened at Masjid Ar-Razaqq Ul-Karim mosque.
Police say the suspect, Merv Mitchell, and the mosque’s imam accused the man of stealing. Chopping off his hand was his punishment.
Officers have arrested Mitchell, who is also known as Mabul Shoatz. They are still looking for the unidentified imam.
Robert Spencer, a noted authority on Islamic terrorism, told CBN News that this case is an example of Shariah law at work in the United States.
How common is this kind of punishment in America? Spencer explains more.

That’s one ugly zebiba and so big it should have it’s own zip code. The more “devout” the bigger the lump along with the dead fish eyes.

“dead fish eyes”
You beat me to it! And the zebiba: the Mark of the Beast. The more Islamic a person is the less human they are.

Sometimes I feel like Robert Spencer is the lone voice of sanity. I wish more people could express the danger of Islam as clearly as him, and write with such eloquence
I just finished reading his latest book ‘Arab Winter Comes To America’- spectacular work

This episode will not be the last and is probably not the first of savage sharia being applied in contradiction to the US Constitution. We must begin by rejecting the lie and nonsense perpetrated by Islamic apologists that sharia is perfectly compatible with American secular law.
bernie says
Another reason why sharia is incompatible with American law is because it sets up a formal caste system in which Muslims (whether Sunnis or Shi’as is a question of dispute) are totally dominant, and people of other faiths or no religious faith) are 2nd, 3rd, or fourth-class citizens.
As for amputations for thieves, it’s definitely wrong. Even major corporate thieves shouldn’t have their hands amputated, or be executed, let alone petty thieves. I knew a guy who was a somewhat bad thief and con artist, but he did several years in prison, got reformed and made restitution, and now is honest and hard-working.
gerard says
The “logic” of amputation is absurd. How will the person make restitution? How will he work with only one hand? Amputation discourages change for the better. Islam is a “philosophy” of despair.

the rich can buy their way out of any crime. (blood money). !!!
Arjay says
Thank you Mr. Spencer, for mentioning this story for all the horror it truly is. I saw this story on another site… which tried to purge the Islamic aspect of it. I went into a head to head- with several commentators. Who just blew this off as if were just another minor urban nuisance. Most Americans are just not aware of threat of Islamists in America.

Bizarro world logic
Why were Muhammad’s hands not cut off then?
Why was the pig prophet not stoned to death for adultery as well?
harbidoll says
Again, the rich can buy their way out of any crime. !!!

You have to wonder what kind of person *chooses* to follow a god that would want them to do such a thing.
When I was just a child I realized that if the god of the Bible had told people that they were supposed to lie, cheat, steal, and murder, or they’d go to Hell, that I would have to be good by *my* standards, even if that evil god sent me to Hell in the end. Because I wouldn’t be able to stand myself if I did those horrible things to other people. I couldn’t love a god that told me to be horrible.
I wasn’t sure whether there was a god or not, but I knew what was right and wrong, and that I would judge any god or any authority by whether he measured up to a reasonable and benevolent moral standard. A standard that supported human life and health and well-being.
I’m sure there are many Muslims who ignore or rationalize away the evil parts of their Quran and Sharia and the other basic texts of their religion. But the people who accept it all in total and literally, and embrace the bad – you have to ask *why* do they *want* to believe that horrible stuff? I could see as a little child that there is a standard of good that I could grasp just from wanting to live and wanting to be free and happy and live in peace with people around me. I would have condemned any alleged “god” who told me to do otherwise and taken my chances.
Good people choose a good religion, or a good, modified version of a bad religion.
